Andromeda     The High Council has convened in the typical meeting place, the Council Tower, today. The 180 degree windows that offer beautiful views of the Federal District below also fill the room with natural light from Coruscant's climate controlled weather.

Not everyone is present, but there are a few humans, an Iktotchi man, a Twi'lek woman, and the Grand Master of the Order, Yoda. They await the arrival of one Annelia Belask, who has requested an audience with them.
Annelia Belask     Striding into the room with a very much affected reserve and confidence, Annelia presents herself to the council in... nothing fancy. Very much the standard beige and brown fare of the jedi, eschewing some of the more variate and differentiated looks that are coming into vogue among the order.

She bows her head respectfully for a moment before speaking; "Good afternoon, Council. I apologize for this interruption and I will be brief. Although I am not long a Knight myself, I have become acquainted with a masterless Padawan since then who is struggling somewhat with the Force. Truth be told, his connection is far stronger than mine ever has been. I think he needs some grounding and, perhaps, more focus on the physical world around him to remain in balance and within his -own- mind. In short, I am here to petition to take on the tutelage of Cayde Alexis officially, after having acquainted with him on a few outings and incidental meetings."
Andromeda     There are some slight nods throughout the room as Ann makes her proposal, although there are also a few skeptical looks as well. Even if it's not outwardly shown however, most are somewhat relieved she's actually volunteering herself for this. A few moments after she's done speaking, Master Yoda looks to her. "Certain you are, of this?" he asks. "A great responsibility, it will be."

The Twi'lek woman, Master Karina, nods in agreement. "I'm glad you've found a unique connection to him, Annelia. Something few others have. However, this certainly isn't an easy job you're volunteering for, and I hope you've taken that into full consideration."
Annelia Belask     There's a pause from Ann, and she frowns a little as she considers the two comments to her statement. She looks back up at the assembled council members then, nodding a little.

"To answer both of your concerns- as we are taught from our arrival in the temple, certainty and absolutes are not our stock and trade. Nor do we train so much as we do to take on simple or easy tasks. I do not refer to the things I do in those fashions. I would say, rather, that I am committed, as to the best of my perception this appears to be the right path forward."
Andromeda     They nod, appearing satisfied with her answer. "Well spoken. The path of a Jedi is a difficult one, and I fully expect that this will be no different, pushing you to places you've never gone before. A master often finds that she can learn just as much from her padawan as her padawan can learn from her."

She glances around the room at the other council members, and once they've shown some form of affirmation, she turns back to Ann. "Very well then, Annelia. You have the Council's blessing to take Padawan Alexis as your apprentice."

As the meeting is adjourned and everyone is filing out, Karina comes alongside Ann. "I am very glad you have taken this upon yourself. We were worried no one would accept this task. Alexis is...different, as I'm sure you've already noticed. When he first came here, not everyone was so readily accepting of him or that he should be trained in our ways."
Annelia Belask     "People said the same of me," notes Ann to Master Karina, head shaking a little with a faint smile. "Needn't be hidden. I always had sharp ears, I heard the conversations myself. It was for different reasons, but it's a familiar refrain all the same."

She glances to the side a moment before adding; "When Master Gaiss took me on, it was specifically -because- we were so unalike. I think it helped level me out, on some level. And as it turns out, a decidedly... physical person like me can make some decent headway into bringing the boy back to earth with a tight grip on the arm and occasional flick to the head." There's the hint of an amused smirk with that last part.
Andromeda     Master Karina chuckles good-naturedly at that last comment. "And perhaps you might even gain some further insight to the Force's influence over other things besides those that are physical. After all, how can we expect ourselves to grow if we never step away from the things that come naturally to us?"

She pauses a moment. "Cayde has difficulty expressing himself in the usual ways, but I'm sure he will be thrilled to hear the news. Why don't you find him now and let him know?"
Annelia Belask     "I am not -without- training in the force in other respects," says Ann with a wry smile, chuckling a little with that and shrugging it off. She nods a little.

"Oh, he has his ways. Handed me something at one point. Though before I go, Master Karina- are there further tasks needed in the coming days? I know investigations are ongoing into the aftermath of the attack on Jedha, but I would rather not lose sight of any other concerns. If not, then perhaps it will be straight to an afternoon in the training chambers."
Andromeda     Karina frowns at the mention of Jedha. "The investigations should be focused on finding the perpetrators responsible for the raid, and any further missing items. I know Alexis feels...responsible for Tomi's condition, but I am afraid he is too young to concern himself too much with it. There are potentially dangerous forces at work within the man, forces I fear may be too strong for a...direct confrontation."

She seems eager to move on from that particular subject. "Well, yes, I know he does." The Twi'leki smiles slightly at that. "But it is important that he learn to communicate effectively without always having to rely upon entering the mind of another."
Annelia Belask     "Well, I meant things unrelated to Jedha, but yes- I have only much involved myself in the retrieval of items. I was there for one check into the sorcerer, but... I must confess I have little to offer for that issue and little interest in trying to force it," admits Ann, shrugging a little. "But thank you, Master Karina. Let me not take up too much more of your time."

She bows her head with that, turning to stride out of the side space of the room they had been chatting in and return to the rest of the temple.
Andromeda     "Ah, I see. For now, you should focus on becoming more acquainted with your new Padawan and beginning his training." Karina answers. She bows slightly in return as Ann leaves her side.

If she is to seek out Cayde as requested, she'd find him sitting alone in the refectory. A group of other padawans walk by, glancing in his direction but quickly turning away and trying to pretend they didn't see him.
Annelia Belask     Ann is a little harder to ignore- she's big for the species and such that she is, her hair is an eyecatching red, and she's certainly not moving as aimlessly as a padawan might move in a quiet moment. In fact, she's striding quite purposefully and swiftly.

No mind to any of the other onlookers, rather she strides right by the bench the young man sits on.

"Come along, Padawan," she says simply, flicking his forehead as she referenced earlier without breaking stride.

"Time to start official one to one training." she adds as she continues breezing past the space.
Andromeda     Now, thanks to Cayde's unique gifting in the Force, he usually isn't startled by anyone. But the abruptness of that flicking this time has him do a double take. He stands up, standing there for a moment staring at her retreating back before he hurries to catch up with her.

She can already feel his joy and gratitude toward her that she'd been willing to take him on. The Council hadn't been the only ones who'd feared no one would be up to the task.
Annelia Belask     "Lesson one- staying in your own head, not in the clouds or others'. I find sore muscles are -excellent- at keeping one aware of their own body and grounded," adds Ann, smirking over her shoulder as she takes an abrupt turn- certainly there will be other moments, but for the moment... she's taking the force-minded boy into her own world. The PT chambers await- and the next couple of days are likely to kind of suck given her repute for how she trains strength and the like.
Cayde Alexis     Cayde nods, although there is somewhat of a sense of dread at the mention of sore muscles keeping one more aware of the physical. She might be smirking, but he knows she's deadly serious. Still, there is an eagerness there.

    <Thank you Master Annelia>

And she'd just been talking about staying in his own head...
Annelia Belask     A sharp snapping noise right behind Cayde's ear as he falls into step beside Ann and she smirks a little glancing over.

"Don't mind you talking that way- might be good in the long run even, so long as you're careful of who you use it with. Just playing with possible reality check habits," she explains with a shrug- indeed, it was as simple as she snapped her fingers next to his ear it turns out as the pair walk into one of the training rooms.
