| Athena | Not long after having arrived in the hangar of the Temple of the Kyber, the group is escorted by a protocol droid who'd offered to show them to their quarters while Yvon and Jahni saw to matters about the ship and restocking their supplies. However, just before they'd set out to see where their rooms for the next few days would be, their tall and foreign guest, Thaarin, had suggested they visit the archives. He'd not vocalized it, but it is an attempt to move Cayde away from the busy hangar and towards an activity he might enjoy more -- or at least to a place where he could find a bit more privacy. |
| Navi | "I hope you're better at research than I am, Thaarin," Navi says as the group makes their way toward the archives. "The protocol droid will probably be a great help to you, since I'm not sure if the whole of the archives are in the same language. There's a lot of stuff there. I hope you find what you're looking for, either way." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde nods, appreciating the kind gesture form Thaarin. He glances at Navi a bit dubiously. 'Usually' might be stretching it. But he can't quite discern if she's serious about that or just saying it to be nice...as familiar territory as it is, her mind seems to be a jungle of emotions. And besides that, there's too much interference at the moment. Anyway, he continues to follow the droid, eager to get away from the crowds. |
| Pike Windu | Pike returns from his meditation to rejoin the others. The Jedi Master seems more at peace and remains silent. |
| Annelia Belask | Ann carries on with the group to the archives- sure, she's more the technical manual than history and lore sort, but likely best she mind the group (And the guest) for the time being, quiet though the temple often is. |
| Athena | The tall blue humanoid offers Navi a faint smile, and droid translates, "He says his people had made contact with the Jedi a long time ago. Likely during the era of the Old Republic. He wishes to see if the Jedi have anything recorded regarding it, since his people did not keep a very detailed record of their ... allyship." Soon, they'll find themselves in front of the doors to the archives, looking in will reveal a vast expanse of shelves lined with glowing datapads, as well as the occasional artifact or ancient work of art. However, Thaarin seems immediately drawn to a mural on the back wall of the archives, that depicts the last and conflict of the Jedi-Sith War, showing, naturally, the outcome of the battle with the Jedi as victorious. He glances over at the group, and says in his accented Basic, "You... won?" |
| Navi | "We won," Navi replies. "That's what history tells us, anyway, but I can't see any reason they would lie about it." She studies the mural for a thoughtful moment. "Welcome back, Master Windu," she adds softly as the master healer rejoins the group. "Are you feeling better?" |
| Cayde Alexis | As they enter the much quieter archives, Cayde heaves a small sigh of relief as the headache fades at least a bit. He wanders through the shelves, randomly pulling book or two every once and a while to glance at it and then put it back. |
| Pike Windu | The mural also draws Pike's attention. He beams with pride as he takes in the artwork. |
| Annelia Belask | "Wouldn't be much a republic if we hadn't," reminds Ann as she diverts off to walk with Cayde- eyes flicking over books but not yet touching any for the time being. |
| Athena | Thaarin observes Pike's reaction for a moment, then looks to Navi, seeming intrigued by her response. He turns to the droid, and the droid then translates, "He doesn't mean to be impolite or insensitive, but he's curious as to why you carry the Jedi's weapon, if you are in fact, no longer a Jedi." However, his attention is diverted when Cayde wanders off and starts randomly pulling holobooks off the shelf only to return them as if uninterested. He then holds up a hand to indicate to Navi that he'll be back, and follows Anne and Cayde, peeling off to join the other two, his brows furrowed. He gestures for the droid to follow, and the droid hurries after him, somewhat flustered. After a moment, the droid begins translating again. "He says his people participated in these wars alongside the Republic thousands of years ago, but withdrew back to the Unknown Regions long before the war was won. Since then, they have forsaken interaction with other alien species, and even to this day, most of his kind had assumed the Republic fell and the Jedi all but eradicated..." A beat, then the droid adds. "He'd also like to know if ... uh, the behavior Cayde is exhibiting now is one of a few, or several, that he displays whenever there is negative emotional stimuli, and if so, what are the others...?" |
| Navi | "That's a long story. The short version is, I know how to build a lightsaber, I know how to use one, and I can do more with my lightsaber than my staff. And I'm almost always in the company of Jedi, so the ability to block blaster fire is very, very useful," Navi replies, shrugging. "Also, I built it from the remains of my late Master's lightsaber. She would've wanted me to have it. Anyway, no offense taken." She moves to follow Thaarin, joining the rest of the group among the stacks. "Um... I've never made a detailed study of awkward Cayde behaviors, but I'd venture a guess that that's exactly what it is. And I kind of had to answer that one, Cayde, so no offense or insensitivity intended." |
| Cayde Alexis | As Ann glances at the books, she might glimpse that a few of them he's taking off the shelves are related to slicing or Jedi masters of old who'd had a talent for it. One of them seems to catch his eye though finally, and he starts reading it for a bit longer than he had the others. In spite of everyone else talking about him now, he doesn't seem to notice or acknowledge it. |
| Pike Windu | Pike remains behind, studying the mural as he opens himself to the Force, hoping for a vision of the past. |
| Annelia Belask | "Let me put it to you this way," says Ann to Thaarin, shrugging a little as she turns to look at him. "Have you never had a tiring day and simply wanted some relative peace and quiet and to read or similar? Fairly normal, around these parts. And to ask a more direct question- you seem to have a lot of curiousity about Cayde in specific. Something on your mind?" |
| Athena | Thaarin nods imperceptibly, and the droid then asks her on his behalf: "Have you ever reconsidered rejoining the Jedi?" However, when she starts saying that she'd never made a detailed study of awkward Cayde behaviors, he frowns slightly. The droid becomes even more flustered, but continues translating, "He says that he admires your compassion and kindness, sees that you're very well intentioned, and a good friend to Cayde. If the comment was made in jest and the young padawan has clearly indicated prior that he does not mind such labels, feel free to ignore the next suggestion. He is certain that we're all aware that Cayde isn't deaf, even if at the moment he's absorbed in something else. But given what his Master had indicated prior, he's inclined to believe that it's probably best that we avoid speaking about his private insecurities publicly." Pike is not rewarded with a vision of the past, rather, he is reminded of a present problem. A couple of the nurse droids and a healer from the infirmary approach, their expressions ... concerned. "Master Windu," the healer says quietly, bowing politely. "The patient you brought in. We've done all we can for him, but he still will not wake. And we cannot touch his mind. The best we can do is show you what the scans indicated." she gestures at the droids, who pull out a datapad and show the results on the holodisplay... Thaarin offers Anne a faint smile, and the droid once again begins translating. "He wishes to understand Cayde. Perhaps you were not aware, but Cayde was the very first person to attempt to make a significant effort to communicate with and understand him, despite his own non-standard ways of interacting socially. He finds Cayde to be an exemplary and extraordinary Jedi, demonstrating the values of sacrificial kindness even while emotionally oppressed." A pause. "He'd like to congratulate you, on either helping him to become that person, or continuing to encourage him to be the fine Jedi he already is." |
| Navi | "I have, a few times. I haven't made a decision yet. I'm already a member of a Force cult here, the Shining Brotherhood, and so far I feel I can do more good outside of the Jedi Order than inside," Navi replies, blushing faintly. She's not quite sure whether to take Thaarin's comment as a suggestion or a mild rebuke. The approach of the medical staff draws her attention. "Please excuse me... I have a bad feeling about this," she says softly, hurrying over to rejoin Pike. This sounds like bad news... |
| Cayde Alexis | When the nurses and healer arrive, Cayde is pulled out of the book by the healer's...distress over the situation with what he assumes is Thaarin's companion. He examines the readouts, trying to see if he can make any sense of them in conjunction with searching the healer's mind. |
| Athena | The tall blue humanoid nods imperceptibly again when Navi states her membership to the Shining Brotherhood. When the nurse droids and healer arrive and start talking to Pike and Navi, he looks up, but doesn't go over immediately. Unfortunately, Cayde won't be able to make sense of what the healer is thinking, or of the diagnostics the droid has pulled up. However, Navi might deduce that that Thaarin's companion seems to have incurred some kind of permanent brain damage. Though how it had happened, or when, will remain a mystery. His brain, probably not to the young Sephi's surprise, is quite different looking from a human's or Sephi's, despite his outward humanity save for blue skin and red eyes. "We're not sure how it happened," the healer says, "Or when. Some of our studies show that both his body and mind were subjected to torment for a lenghty period of time, perhaps weeks, perhaps months. Regardless, we don't really know what to do. No one here can touch his mind, and that's the best bet we have on helping him to wake." |
| Navi | "I hate it when my bad feelings are right," Navi murmurs, studying the readout. "Protocol Droid? I need you to start looking through the archives for anything we might have on Thaarin's peoples' physiology. He can tell you what they're called. I especially need anything on their brains and nervous systems. Get more droids to work on it if you have to." "Thaarin? You will want to know about this. It's about your companion, and I'm afraid it's bad news," she adds to the tall blue alien. "I won't sugarcoat what's happened; he's suffered some kind of brain damage. If our healers could make contact with his mind, they could heal at least some of the damage. Maybe all of it. But we can't make contact with your minds. They're shielded. You know more about your own physiology than any of us, so you might be able to help us to help him." |
| Cayde Alexis | No matter how much he stares at the readouts, Cayde can't quite make sense of them. And the healer's thoughts on the subject also don't really help. But it seems Navi at least has ideas on what to do... |
| Annelia Belask | "As capacity for reaching past that goes, Cayde would likely be the best talent there, if not always the most measured and stable take," Ann adds, arms crossing as she frowns a little. "But, to be completely honest, I'm shocked only one survivor sustained that kind of damage, that crash being wat it was." |
| Athena | "Ah...right," the protocol droid says. "Of course, right away..." Thaarin frowns slightly but he doesn't seem surprised, in the slightest. He shakes his head. The healer looks to Navi, then to Anne. "Well," the healer says to Anne. "That's the thing. I don't think the brain damage was caused by blunt trauma. It's possible, but not likely. It seems to have happened prior to ... whenever you found him, which I'm assuming was relatively recent. However, you do have a point, perhaps we should examine the other." The droid begins to translate for Thaarin, and the healer turns to Anne again, glancing at Cayde. "But yes, about Cayde. He might as well try. What's the worst that could happen? There's already been discussion about whether we should just ask your guest if he thinks it would be best for us to just... well, you know. Euthanize him, if he doesn't wake up after a certain prolonged amount of time. It's terrible, I know. But we're not sure what else to do." The droid looks over at Navi, dismayed. "I'm.. not finding anything. There's a brief visual match on the Chiss, which are referenced exactly twice in all our archives. And those books were just... history texts, on the Sith Wars. There's nothing about their physiology, unfortunately." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde frowns pensively, then nods at Ann's remark. He may as well try. The question of what could be the worst that might happen isn't as flippant as the healer is making it sound, but the other man needed help, and that was enough. He'd read that there were some species who were more difficult to read than others, but it could be done if one was willing and learned to open his mind. Even if he was unconscious, maybe it was... possible. Maybe there were some books about it here. [I can study...I can try] he signs. |
| Navi | "Grab me those two, then," Navi replies, nodding to the droid. "I'll take whatever I can get on these Chiss. There is a chance that, if we can get this fellow home, his own people can cure him. The Jedi Order would probably want to do their due diligence on this matter anyway." She looks to Thaarin, Cayde, Anne, and the healers. "I doubt it was the crash that did the brain damage... he was tortured for a long time before he, Thaarin, and the little guy made their escape and took that ship. Times like this I wish that little guy hadn't run off the way he did. He might know more about what happened." "Thaarin, are you willing to submit to medical scans of your nervous system? It may be the only chance your friend has if the Jedi Order isn't interested in trying to get you both home," she adds to Thaarin. |
| Annelia Belask | "Speaking of that small one..." Ann muses, pulling out a commpad to tap out a quick message to the temple security staff, detailing the notes on the small creature and their slip-away. Better safe than sorry. "Scans might help, yes, and I would give Cayde time- it sounds like your friend's condition isn't worsening, at least. Better a cautious approach, all things considered." |
| Athena | "...Alright," the droid says to Navi, though it's clear it's rather skeptical of the outcome of this all. Regardless, it dutifully translates for Thaarin, who nods faintly when Navi asks if he'll submit to a medical diagnostic. He turns to Cayde, watching the young padawan sign. Then he turns to him and signs flawlessly in Basic, /Thank you/. Then he has the droid translate for him to Anne, "I'm sorry if my companion and I are becoming a burden. You'll have to leave in a few days, yes?" The healer then nods, and motions for them to follow her to the infirmary. "I suppose we shouldn't waste anymore time," she says. "And should give Cayde the maximum amount to examine him. I hear you're not to stay in Jedha." Once they arrive at there, a droid begins running a medical diagnostic on Thaarin, while another Force adjunct gifted in psychometry takes his badge for examination. Both the healer and Navi may be surprised at the results, he has very high blood pressure, but his outward demeanor as per usual, is calm and demure. "How strange!" the healer exclaims. "His body seems to have endured an immense amount of stress as well...! But he isn't displaying any signs of impact..." |
| Navi | "That's true, unfortunately... we're supposed to leave for Tenoo once our ship's repaired," Navi replies to the Healer as they move to the infirmary. She gives Thaarin a grateful look when he agrees to volunteer for the scans. "You're not a burden, Thaarin. If the Republic and the Chiss were once allies, it's possible that they may be again. Besides, Cayde likes you, and I tend to trust his judgement when it comes to people." The mention of Thaarin also suffering torture doesn't surprise her, but the news of his response, or rather his lack of response, to it certainly does. "That IS interesting. I'm going to take a guess that Thaarin and his friend were both subjected to an experimental treatment or torture method, possibly a drug or an interrogation droid. It's possible that Thaarin was exposed to less of that sort of treatment than his friend, and that's why he's in such good shape compared to him. I won't rule out the intervention of the Force, either, or the possibility that the smaller alien was somehow protecting him from the worst effects of the torture." |
| Cayde Alexis | [Very welcome] Cayde signs back to him. He follows the healers to the infirmary. He may as well try to take a look and see if he can at least get some kind of idea on how to enter the unconscious man's mind. Maybe if he and Navi joined their efforts it might work? Already he tries to convey this idea to her, showing her the notion that maybe if they worked together with the healers they might enter his consciousness. |
| Annelia Belask | "This is the kind of thing Jedi do. Don't worry about it," says Ann to Thaarin, shaking her head. "Hoping you communicating back home will be approved- if there's a delay or something... well, you seem sharp. Might be a good hand to have around the Tenoo colony." |
| Athena | The droid translates for Thaarin, but Navi's response doesn't seem to lift his spirits much. He nods at Cayde when he tells him he's welcome, offering the young padawan another faint smile. However, when Anne tells him not to worry and says that he might be a good hand to have around Tenoo, the change in his expression is visible. He seems both comforted, and conflicted, at the same time, for a brief moment. His expression reverting back to the typical unreadable look, he gazes after Anne for a few seconds. The Force adjunct gifted in psychometry returns now, and connects with Navi and Cayde telepathically to reveal what she'd found. The history of the badge is blurry, at best, but it would appear that Navi's assessment had been correct -- Thaarin and his companion had been exposed to some kind of drug, or interrogation device. But it would seem that Thaarin's companion had been subjected to more physical abuse prior to exposure of the drug, while Thaarin had been forced to watch. Perhaps this was why his companion had been more susceptible to whatever they'd been exposed to, although Thaarin himself had suffered more psychological trauma. Just as before, Thaarin's companion's mind hovers like a blank, cloudy slate in front of the young padawan. Perhaps it is possible, with a joint effort... but as Ann had stated before, it would likely take time some time. |
| Cayde Alexis | Well, he could at least try to begin with. Everything had to start somewhere. He touches the man's forehead, focusing all his efforts toward trying to connect with...-something-. Anything, even the slightest hint of a memory... |
| Navi | "It's worth a try," Navi says to Cayde, taking a seat nearby and beginning to draw on the Force, then joining her mind with Cayde's and beginning to tweak the flow of the Force between herself and the unconscious Chiss's mind. With the favor of the Force, perhaps they could pierce that veil and access his mind. And with a bit more favor, perhaps they could cure him. |
| Athena | Amazingly, they're able to see... and feel, something. But the shapes, colors and movement are blurry, as if Navi and Cayde are seeing it through thick, frosted glass. They'll be able to sense an immense amount of fear, and a very strong urgency to get back to where he was from - the Ascendancy. But also, and perhaps a bit morbidly, a desire to die, although that desire is in conflict with the others and neither Cayde or Navi will be able to discern why. And yet, if they attempt to calm him, cure his mind, or affect his conscious in any way shape or form, they'll find themselves foiled... |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde frowns in deep concentration, trying to focus on the emotions, and the vague images. What did they need to do to hone this technique? To pierce the veil, so to speak? Surely, there was a book somewhere in this archives, or maybe even several books, on how to penetrate the mind of species who were difficult to commune with. It probably involved coaxing them to open themselves up...but how? |
| Navi | <<Oh, of all the... please, work with us here. We know you want to go home! If you'll just let us heal your mind, you're a lot more likely to be able to do that! Can you give us something to work with here?>> Navi asks telepathically, in frustration, as their work is foiled time and again. <<He may have closed his mind off to protect what's left of his sanity,>> she adds directly to Cayde. <<What if we could link Thaarin into our telepathic loop here, and let /him/ talk to this guy's mind directly? He can speak to him in his own language!>> It's the best idea she can come up with. |
| Athena | But Navi will feel very much like she's just shouting into the void. The man's mind is closed off, and he's not even intentionally doing it. And Cayde and Navi will find their telepathic grip on his conscience slipping. His feelings, his thoughts, desires... they're fading to black, and no matter what they do, it's receding. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde sighs and withdraws, but he puts a hand on Navi's shoulder reassuringly. <Don't worry...be patient> he encourages. Frustration wouldn't get them anywhere. But maybe find a way to show Thaarin how to open his mind to them was an idea. He nods toward the young Chiss, pointing toward the man's head and then pointing to his own temple, followed by holding his palms out like a door swinging open. |
| Navi | Navi sighs as their grip on the man's psyche slips away. "We're going to have to do something different if this is going to work," she says wearily. Looking at Thaarin, she asks, "Thaarin, would you be willing to let Cayde and I connect with your mind telepathically, so you can speak directly to your companion's mind? If you can speak to him in his own language, you might be able to persuade him to lower his guard and let us help him. We've tried it alone, but it just doesn't work." |
| Athena | The droid starts to translate, but the tall blue humanoid holds a hand up for him to stop. He stands and gestures for them to follow him into a pretty empty maintenance closet. If they follow him inside, he tells them a phrase in his own language, then takes Cayde's hand and places it on his own temple, nodding. The concept of telepathy doesn't seem at all foreign to him, and despite Cayde's rudimentary hand motions he seems to understand perfectly. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde nods. Good, it seemed he was willing. They had to try. He takes both of their hands, and closes his eyes, trying to see if he could show Thaarin how to open his mind to them... |
| Navi | Navi follows Thaarin to the closet. She commits the phrase he had spoken to memory. "Let's hope this works. I'm all out of ideas," she says softly, opening her mind to the Force again and joining the thought-loop between Cayde, Thaarin, the unknown Chiss, and herself. <<Ready?>> she asks them, and then reaches into the stricken man's mind, telepathically speaking the phrase Thaarin had spoken a moment before... |
| Athena | The first several minutes will be ... difficult. Or perhaps its longer than that, time is hard to measure while Cayde and Navi are in mindscape limbo. Thaarin seems initially rather confused about how to open his mind, and Navi and Cayde will have to exert every ounce of effort into helping him pry a channel in his mind open. But at some point, a sliver of a crack will appear. Now they'll just have the seize the opportunity and try to speak to the unconscious man while attempting to keep the narrow, narrow gap open... |
| Cayde Alexis | That's it...a crack. Even just a narrow one, but it was progress. They could maybe, possibly get at least a lead to the next step. He strains against the veil, pushing as hard as he can. This other man, whoever he was, clearly meant a lot to Thaarin. And he imagines he might mean a lot to a lot of other people back home, too. |
| Navi | Navi focuses her own efforts on widening that gap that has opened. It's quite a strain, but she puts her all into it, wishing she were half the telepath Cayde is. <<Your turn, Thaarin. May the Force be with you,>> she says, doing her best to stabilize the connection and give Thaarin his chance to speak to the otherwise doomed man. |
| Athena | But try as they might, they can't get the gap any wider - only maintain it. And maintaining it is ... well, they'll both start to feel a massive headache coming on. But for some reason, Thaarin is hesitating. They won't be able to discern why - not at this point, with all their effort focused on maintaining that narrow channel. After a moment, Thaarin attempts to speak to the man in their own language, but Navi and Cayde will suddenly find their grip on the channel loosening. It's ... it's closing, though they can feel the other man's mind starting to stir the tiniest bit... |
| Cayde Alexis | No, no...not now, not when they were so close! Not that he's expecting to fix everything instantly, but he at least needed some kind of lead. Somewhere to go next to find the solution. It feels as if his head might split apart, but he pushes past it, doing his best to ignore the pain and keep himself attuned to the Force and to Navi's mind as well. He tries conjuring up a peaceful mindscape, a place where Thaarin and his friend might feel most comfortable. He's not sure what their homeworld is like...but anyone can feel at ease in lush, rolling hills? A well-paved path, with a clear way forward. No confusion, no questions... |
| Navi | <<No! Not now!>> Navi cries, less internally than she would've liked. <<I'm not letting you go! Not when you can live again!>> Conscious of a building pressure behind her eyes, one that is growing worse with each passing second, she forces the pain to the back of her mind, focusing instead on Cayde and his plan. Even as the Padawan works on his peaceful mindscape, she focuses on keeping her grip on the Chiss's mind, and keeping that all-important channel open. If they lose contact now, all their effort will be for nothing... |
| Athena | The unconscious man is stirring more, but Navi and Cayde may realize with a sinking feeling that their efforts are in vain not because their telepathy isn't effective, it's because Thaarin is losing faith. He must have seen something in his brother's mind, through that narrow channel, that had caused him to question whether they should continue trying to wake him this way. And so, despite the splitting headache that's threatening to make their heads feel as if they're about to implode, the channel snaps shut, and the pressure release might be enough to cause either of them to stumble and fall. |
| Navi | <<Oh, bother..!>> cries Navi over the telepathic connection, and faints dead away from the shock... |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde quickly withdraws. Hopefully, Thaarin has learned something useful...he looks to the man expectantly. |
| Athena | If he has, he's not telling them. His expression has become terribly weary, and he signs to Cayde again. /Thank you. For trying/. Then he pats Cayde on the shoulder gently, and offers Navi a helping hand, pulling her to her feet gently if she takes his hand. |
| Cayde Alexis | But...Cayde sighs, his shoulders slumping. Doesn't he want to help his friend? [What did you see] he asks. [Please...] |
| Navi | Navi rouses from her fainting spell after a moment, putting a hand to her head. "Oooooohh, my head..." she murmurs, accepting Thaarin's hand and getting slowly to her feet. "What happened? Why did you pull back?" she asks Thaarin wearily. |
| Athena | That weary look doesn't go away and default to a standard unreadable expression, surprisingly. He takes Navi's hands and kisses them very gently. "Thank you," he says. Then he turns to Cayde, looking grief stricken for the first time. /Nothing good/ He places both handss on Cayde's shoulders. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde puts a hand on Navi's shoulder, trying to ease her pain and point her toward something better. He stares desperately at Thaarin. [Please...help us...help him] |
| Navi | Navi gives Cayde a grateful look. "Thanks," she whispers, before looking at Thaarin, her eyes tearing up as her hands are kissed. "As best I can tell, he wants to go home. But he also wants to die. Those are at cross purposes to each other. Unless he wants his body brought home to be laid to rest. It's not a possibility I like to think about, but neither can I ignore it." "Protocol droid!" she shouts, waving her arm outside of the closet door. "Need your help over here!" Withdrawing back inside the closet, she looks to Thaarin. "Is that what he truly wants? To end his suffering and be taken home? I can't give up on him if there's even a tiny chance he can be saved... I can't!" |
| Athena | Thaarin nods, slowly, his expression melancholy. His scarlet eyes seem so sad now, but also full of compassion and gratefulness as he takes her cheeks with both hands and uses his thumbs to wipe away her tears. "You should go," he says very softly in his accented Basic, looking up only briefly to make a shooing motion at the droid, who appears utterly confused. He doesn't say anything to Cayde, for the moment, only stares at the young padawan sadly, shaking his head. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde's expression falls, as he finally gives up and sighs sadly, turning to leave. If Thaarin didn't believe in them, then there wasn't much point to any of this. They would need his cooperation... |
| Navi | "It's too late, then," Navi says softly, bowing her head when Thaarin releases it. "Is it really so bad that it would be worse for him to live than to die? I'd hoped not, but... well. You know him best." She hugs him fiercely. "Do what you must do. But if there's any chance you're wrong, you know where to find us." She releases him, then turns to follow Cayde, utterly crushed. "Protocol droid? If you could show me to my room, I'd be beyond grateful. I really need to lie down. Possibly for a week." |
| Athena | He closes the door of the maintenance closet, then accepts Navi's embrace gratefully. Afterwards, he opens it, and beckons for the protocol droid to come over, as Navi requests to be shown to her room. Once Navi and the protocol droid have left, Thaarin reaches out and grabs Cayde's wrist gently. Now it's just the two of them in the patient room. "It's.. not you," he says in his accented Basic. "Please. Don't be sad." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde looks back at Thaarin when he tries to pull him back by the wrist. But he just pulls away, shaking his head. Regardless of what the reason was, all their efforts had been in vain. If only he would trust in the Force, there was a chance his friend might be made well again. |
| Athena | The tall blue humanoid watches as Cayde pulls away, shaking his head. His gaze follows the young padawan as he leaves, his scarlet eyes burning with the things he wanted to say but couldn't, for the moment. Then finally, he sighs, and turns around, heading back into the infirmary. |
