| Athena | It's a fine afternoon in Kublop Springs, and Navi likely is contemplating either going back to the colony site, or is perhaps sitting around waiting for either Cayde or the Mandalorians to make some kind of decision regarding the cortosis. It's only been a few hours, but the waiting might feel like she's been sitting around for days. Either way, she probably isn't terribly preoccupied when she may notice a familiar young Chadra Fan face wandering the plaza, looking kind of lost! |
| Navi | "Peeka..?" Navi murmurs, slowly standing and approaching the Chadra Fan. "Peeka? What are you doing in Kublop Springs?" she asks worriedly. "And does your mother know you're here?" |
| Athena | "What do you -think- I'm doing?!" she asks. "My dad obviously isn't at the colony site, so where else would I look? Besides, if he was thinking of leaving, or has already left, the trail would be here!" She turns up her nose. "She doesn't have to know. Besides, I didn't come by myself this time, at least!" |
| Navi | "Peeka, her husband is missing... there's no way she'd be willing to take a chance on losing one of her children, too," Navi protests gently. "Are your brothers with you, then? I haven't seen them." |
| Athena | "Exactly! She's got enough to worry about without having to worry about me. It's easier to divide the work of looking for him anyway!" Just then, she'll see three Chadra Fan heads appear, from behind a dumpster bin. "Hey!" one of them yells. "We're going to the spaceport. So either hurry up, or get lost!" And then they scamper off. |
| Navi | "Well, I guess I know where I'm going," Navi muses, moving to follow the three. "Come along, Peeka. I seem to be free for a bit, so maybe we can find some trace of your father?" |
| Athena | "Come along?! I was already going. You're just an accessory," she says to Navi. "But fine, we could use your help. We're going to find my dad, even if we have to go offworld to do so!" |
| Navi | "Don't even /think/ about stowing away on an outbound ship. Some of those break-bulk cargo holds get sealed off before departure and don't get unsealed for /days/," Navi cautions. "Now, is there anything you haven't mentioned about your father's departure outside of your family. The more I know, the more I may be able to help." |
| Athena | "Then we won't go in the cargo hold," Peeka says stubbornly. "Or, we'll just be ready. Bring food, and snacks, and everything!" The young Chadra Fan looks thoughtful. "No, not really," she says, with a sigh. "He disappeared the day the marauder showed up at the colony. Left a note, that said something about how we were all better off without him. But that's not gonna stop me from finding him!" |
| Navi | "I'm hoping the Marauder coming into town was just a coincidence. The leader's a decent guy, but it's not like he's just going to give up information for nothing." Navi shudders, remembering the last time Peeka had tried to bargain with Amarik for evidence. They'd left empty-handed, but at least Peeka had been able to leave /at all/! |
| Athena | "Yeah, yeah," she says, "We don't need his help anyway. I decided we could do it on our own!" But now that they're approaching the spaceport, Navi may wonder what exactly does Peeka have planned? Does she want to stowaway? Does she want to look at flight records? Does she want to steal her own ship? Who knows, but regardless, she'll have to get past the spaceport security once they're in! |
| Navi | "Just what are you guys planning on doing once we're inside the spaceport? There's no point in even getting on a ship if you have no idea where to look for your father," Navi suggests. "Do you have an idea for finding out where he might be?" |
| Athena | "I'm gonna try to find out if he's left already!" Peeka whispers not so discreetly. She's approaching an area in the spaceport that's guarded by a sign that says EMPLOYEES ONLY, and a couple of security droids. Her brothers lurk nearby. "We need to see all the flight logs since the day the marauder was at the colony!" |
| Navi | "Excuse me, gentlemechs," Navi says, approaching the security droids and showing her Deputy Marshal's badge. "Deputy Colonial Marshal Navi Valrennann. I'm looking for information regarding a missing persons case, and I require access to your flight records and passenger manifests, please." |
| Athena | The droid drones to Navi, "You may file a request at the customer service desk, requesting access to flight logs and passenger manifests, for a specified timeframe. The customer service desk is near the front of the spaceport, near the refreshers. Thank you, and have a good day." It then starts its patrol again, but the Chadra Fan teenagers are nowhere to be seen! |
| Navi | "Thank you," Navi replies to the droid, though her tone is less than grateful. She should've known better than to try to gain access through the droid. She should've known better than to let the Fan Four out of her sight for more than a split second, too, because they're gone! She sighs quietly. "Such good listeners..." she murmurs, looking around for signs of the furry delinquents. |
| Athena | She won't be able to see them, but she'll be able to sense that the Chadra Fans are ... somewhere behind that sign that says, EMPLOYEES ONLY. They must have used her discussion with the droid as a distraction... |
| Navi | "Glad to know I was so /helpful/ for them," Navi murmurs, having a pretty good idea as to just where they'd gone. "But who's gonna be a distraction for /me/?" It turns out she doesn't need one. The loading door the Chadra Fans had slipped in through had gotten stuck in the process of closing, and nobody has noticed it yet. With a quick glance around to make sure the droids are out of sight and the cameras are turned away, she pauses to wait and then sprints across the tarmac and through the door... |
| Athena | Thankfully, indeed, no one saw her. Navi will find herself in a really boring room that has a few out of service vessels in it. There's a couple of desks in the back, and no Chadra Fans to be seen. There is a droid working the desk, though, however, it pays Navi no mind... |
| Navi | Navi is grateful for the droid's inattention. She makes her way slowly around the room, glancing at the parked ships to see if any of them have open boarding hatches or other signs of activity. For all she knows, the Fan Four are planning to steal a ship, and might assume these not only still work, but are flight-ready! Next on her list are cabinets, terminals, and closets, places where records might be hidden... |
| Athena | The droid is really locked into its work, because from the hallway just outside the room, she'll heard a barely whispered, "Psst! Hey!" Then there's the sound of running feet across tile floor. They can't have been far now, but who knows what they're getting up to! |
| Navi | Navi jogs toward the hallway, using a rolling touch of her feet against the floor to help muffle the sound of her footsteps, grateful for the rubberoid soles of her boots that allow her to move in that way. "Just where are you four, and what are you trying to do?" she hisses in the direction of the noises the four make. |
| Athena | Four heads will pop out from behind an old cargo scanner console. Peeka will wave. "Look, we're trying to get to the room where they keep a record of all the flight logs," she says, "but, um. I don't know where that is. Do you?:" |
| Navi | "Run inside and look for records you have no idea how to find? That was your whole plan?" Navi asks softly, rolling her eyes at Peeka's reply. "Never mind. Maybe I can find the right room," she says, giving each Chadra Fan's head a little tousle as she passes by them. "Let me know if you hear or see anyone coming. That droid can't be the only person here." |
| Athena | "Planning is for nerds!" Peeka retorts. "It's fine... we'll find it..." They follow Navi, as she likely makes her way down the hallway. There's many rooms, but most of the doors are locked and just full of storage. But as they near the end of the hallway, she'll start to hear voices nearby, and espy administrative rooms on the floor below them, from a balcony overlooking the lower levels. |
| Navi | Navi grimaces as she finds yet one more locked door. "And did you ever stop and think about how successful a lot of nerds are?" she asks Peeka, the question gently pointed. "Good ideas and the ability to plan for the best ways to use them are great strengths of character, no matter what you do." And then those voices can be heard, and she hastily puts a warning finger to her lips. Crouching, she gets down on all fours and begins to crawl along the balcony, taking great care not to be seen or heard. Only when she approaches the edge does she lie down on her belly and look down on the administrative office space below, hoping to overhear something useful... |
| Athena | "Nerddddyyyy," Peeka says, "besides, if you can't figure it out in the moment, are you even smart?" She retorts. The Chadra Fans follow her example, although almost too late. One of the space port employees looks up, frowns, and then continues about her business. Navi won't hear anything specific, but they do seem to be in the right department. If she angles her head right, she might be able to see a sign on the wall on the floor below, that says "RECORDS," and points left. |
| Navi | Navi winces as one of the employees notices /something/ move overhead, the barely-hasty-enough reaction of the Chadra Fans almost getting them all caught. She glares pointedly back at them, then carefully pivots and belly-crawls back to the corridor. "Next time obey quicker... you /almost/ blew the whole game for a second there. The Records department is downstairs, to the left," she whispers. "Now we just have to get to it." |
| Athena | "Yipee!" Peeka whispers, and as soon as the area below them clears, the Chadra Fan teenagers leap from the balcony and slide down one of the columns. "Let's go!" the youngest boy says, hurrying to the left and following the arrow pointing towards the record room. |
| Navi | Navi watches the Fan Four scurry down into the administrative annex. She hesitates, takes a deep, calming breath, and vault gracefully over the side of the balcony, doing a neat little somersault before kicking off of the column the Fan Four had used to slide down to the floor, followed by another somersault to end by sticking the landing. "Guess all those extra hours in gymnastics back at the Temple paid off..." she murmurs, hurrying after the Chadra Fan siblings. |
| Zetha Rumir | The cantina across from the spaceport holds little to keep Zetha's attention normally unless she's really craving something specific. This time, it's not something but someone who has drawn her to see if they're here. She's only trying to find 'Jasper' to apologize for what she said. He was right after all. But she still has no intention of actually starting anything except maybe a really awkward friendship. None the less, it will likely be difficult to find a man in black beskar and a hood in a dimly lit place but she'll certainly give it a good try. |
| Athena | Navi won't have much trouble being able to hear their scurrying feet hurrying down the hallway, towards the room at the end of the hall that has a sign out in front of it that reads "LOGS AND PORT DATA." Before Navi can even protest, they've picked the lock on the door and are inside! They don't even wait for the young Sephi girl. Indeed, the cantina isn't terribly conducive for looking for someone black clad. It's dim, the music is kind of loud, and its rather crowded. But maybe she could ask the bartender? |
| Navi | Navi darts inside the records room, pausing just inside the door to look and listen. For all she knows, the Fan Four have just barrelled into some surprised clerks, and she may have to move fast to avoid being thrown out with them! Fortunately, the four's famous (and very furry) luck seems to be holding; the room is empty. Making sure the door closed behind her, she begins to look around for the necessary records... |
| Zetha Rumir | While not being the most familiar face in the cantina, she tries to look confident enough as she walks up to the bartender. "You haven't seen a hooded person come in recently? Dressed in all black?" Which may sound like the most generic description -but!- it's true. "Potentially in beskar gear if one could tell." In a place such as this is what Zetha means but she is surely NOT saying that aloud. |
| Athena | "Look, Navi!" the tiny Chadra Fan girl explains. "This is it! All of it! Flight logs, cargo manifests, passenger manifests... all we gotta do is type in my dad's name!" She looks over at Navi. "Oh, this console is a little huge for my hands. Can you do it?" she asks. The bartender frowns at Zetha. There's a pause. "No," he says after a suspicious hesitation, "I didn't see anyone like that." And then he turns around and leaves her alone. Strange. Maybe 'Jasper' had paid him off. There's other patrons at the bar, though. Maybe she could ask them. In fact, the man sitting next to her seems ... approachable. He's a little older, perhaps almost forty. He has kind hazel eyes, that every so often, seem sad, but if one didn't look very closely, they would have thought nothing of it or not noticed at all. He's alone, and staring off into space. Perhaps Zetha could find that relatable. |
| Navi | "Of course," Navi replies, sinking into a chair in front of the terminal. "Can you watch the door and make sure nobody comes in? Lock it if you have to," she suggests, and begins typing. "I just hope I remember how to spell Hedicole..." |
| Zetha Rumir | If some of the stories Zetha has heard and read about her kind Twi'leks and cantinas have an interesting relationship with each other. She'll look around the cantina once more, but there's not a whole lot that gives anything away. With a frown, she looks to the old man with the hazel eyes just staring and clears her throat gently. "Excuse me. You wouldn't have happened to see a hooded man wander in here in the last...oh....thirty minutes to an hour give or take?" If word begins to spread through the cantina that some blue skinned Twi'lek is looking for a man who fits 'Jasper's description, it might also draw him out. Though not in the most favorable way. She really just wants to find him. Quietly. |
| Athena | Peeka shrugs, and her brothers nods. "Okay," they reply, and crowd around the door to make sure no one sees them. Navi will not find any records regarding Hedicole. However, it may occur to her, that Hedicole wouldn't have wanted to have been found or traced, and may have used a fake name. Perhaps she could search the passenger manifests by species, age, and weight... The hazel eyed man stops spacing out and turns to face Zetha. His brows furrow slightly but somehow, she won't feel threatened in any way "Who's asking?" he asks gently. |
| Navi | Navi scowls faintly as the computer informs her that no one by the name of Hedicole has flown on any ship in or out of the Tenoo system in many months. "No dice on his name. Maybe if we tried demographics..." she murmurs, already keying her best estimate of Hedicole's height, weight, and more. "Can't be that many Chadra Fans his age flying Crappy Tenoo Spacelines..." |
| Zetha Rumir | "Someone who made a mistake and just wants to apologize to them." Zetha answers honestly. She keeps it simple and honest because that may make things keep going smoothly enough. Though she does look around every so often to perhaps see if 'Jasper' tries to slip back out. |
| Athena | Demographics narrows it down some. But there's still at least twenty Chadra Fans that had flown out during that timeframe. Perhaps she ought to just scroll through their files individually, and look at their pictures. Hopefully she won't run out of time... The man nods. "A rare thing to offer to do in these times. I applaud your effort," he says kindly. But after a pause, he says, "I think I saw him head for the back. Listen, if he doesn't take it well, come find me. I wouldn't want you getting hurt on the account of someone's ego being too pricked." |
| Navi | "Figures..." Navi murmurs, calling up the records and looking through boarding holopics of the individual passengers in the records. If she can just find the right one before someone stumbles in here..! |
| Zetha Rumir | "I'm still learning how to navigate life skills. I appreciate that..." Zetha looks towards the back and then nods. "Thank you." Before she slips away and heads towards the back of the cantina, looking, scanning and then finding 'Jasper' in that laying low style. She approaches his table, and suddenly wonders if he'll even give her the time of day after how she treated him. |
| Athena | Indeed. "Navi!!" Peeka whispers too-loud, "Someone's coming! Hurry the kriff up!" Navi might find herself looking at far too many Chadra Fan profiles, but eventually, she'll find one that matches Hedicole exactly. It says he'd left Tenoo a day after the marauders had come to the colony - and boarded a freighter employed as a hauler headed for Elphrona, a nearby system in the same sector. The hazel eyed man nods. "I'll keep an eye out from here," he says. She'll hardly be able to see him, with how low the lights are, but he at least broaches the topic. "Change your mind?" he says, but his tone sounds bitter. |
| Cayde Alexis | As 'Crane' had headed back toward the convent, Cayde watched him go for a few seconds, still feeling down on himself. That 'one day' comment didn't help much. After a few moments, he decides to check on Zetha. She'd seemed to be in the middle of something important, and maybe he could be of help. He does feel somewhat bad about what had happened with Wiis... So he heads into the cantina she'd just entered, following her gaze over to where yet another Mandalorian is lounging. Apparently she knows him. |
| Navi | "Got it!" Navi hisses, hastily shutting down the terminal. "Let's get moving!" She moves to join the Fan Four near the door. "Any chance we can slip out, or do we need to hide?" |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha takes a slow breath. "I want to apologize." She offers. "You were right. I wasn't blaming the right person." She slides into the seat across from 'Jasper' without invitation but this is mostly to keep their conversation as private as possible. "I'm sorry. There's no excuse for it. Aside from me being young, dumb, and likely not worth anyone's time at this point." |
| Athena | The doctor immediately notices when Cayde wanders in and starts after Zetha. "Cayde," he says, brows furrowing. "What are you doing here?" He might not get a response. "We're going, we're going!" Peeka's brother cries, and the four of them flee the room, despite there being two spaceport employees right outside the door. "We're gonna hijack a ship! We're gonna find our dad!" Peeka chants. There's a scream, and an indignant. "What is the meaning of this!" But Navi may have to ignore it, the Chadra Fan teenagers are bolting down the hall, past a sign that says 'PRIVATE HANGAR'. The black clad man in beskar chuckles softly. "It's alright," he says, "you know, you could be. Tell me, do you have a mind for science?" |
| Navi | Navi hears that yell and instantly freezes beside the door, letting it shut behind the Fan Four. "Force help you, Peeka... and you wonder why you haven't saved your dad yet!" she murmurs, listening to the ruckus outside. Only after things have quieted down does she slip out of the file room and make her way out of the building, careful to avoid any employees until she's back in neutral territory. "Security should bring them out in just a bit," she muses, glancing at her wristchrono. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde watches Zetha sit herself down across from the man. Okay, well...maybe she doesn't need any help. But he hears someone else addressing him and turns to find Soren sitting nearby. He glances over at Zetha again, and then back at the doctor. [...nothing] he signs. |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha shakes her head. "Only enough to help me know where to not put the red wire." Which is less science and more tech. "I'm also thinking about learning more on the Force, and I'm definitely going to be keeping my head down a lot more for the near future. You were right. He did leave me...but...I do have one question." She takes another breath, "You also disappeared that night when my friend came looking for me. You have any idea how jarring that can be to someone?" |
| Athena | It takes a little longer than expected, but eventually, the security droids from earlier are marching all four of them to the front of the spaceport. "Deputy," one of them drones. "These four citizens are banned from the spaceport premises for fourteen days due to their trespassing violation. Please make sure they do not make any repeat attempts." Then the droids turn to leave. "You're not old to enough to drink," the doctor says gently to the young padawan. "Why don't you tell me the truth?" "I'm sorry about that," the black clad man in beskar says, "but you see, I've got to keep a low profile. I'm working on a confidential project of sorts - one that embraces the intersection of genetics and the Force. Perhaps you'd like to learn more about it. I'd show you - my colleagues and I could use a helping hand. The only condition is you can't tell anyone about it." |
| Cayde Alexis | [I am...telling the truth] Cayde insists, although he keeps glancing over at Zetha. Those Mandalorians could be trouble. Not Jorn, but...he's not so sure about the others. Anyway, it was the truth. He had originally come in here to see if Zetha needed any help, but since it seemed she didn't, there wasn't a reason any more. He didn't want to seem like a stalker, or something. |
| Navi | "Thank you, Sirs," Navi replies to the droids. "I can take them from here. I'm sure their mother is very worried about them." She lets the droids get out of earshot before looking to the Fan Four. "And /that/ is why you plan things out, nerdy or not," she says softly. "'Cause if you don't, you get /caught/. And now that we've done this your way and gotten about nowhere, from now on we're doing things /my/ way... the official way." |
| Zetha Rumir | Confidential means secrets. Zetha is not good with secrets. Less she knows, the better. She gives a gentle shake of her head. "No. It sounds interesting, and I can appreciate keeping a low profile...but I'm not interested in that. I have some other things going on and I'm resolving a few other problems that have been caused because of me. I appreciate the consideration but I am going to have to decline." She then shifts to actually stand once again. "I just really wanted to find you and apologize. I reacted harshly and you didn't deserve that. I wish you luck on whatever it is you're working on..." |
| Athena | "You're not saying everything that's on your mind," the doctor says, but it's apparent that he isn't, either. He's watching Zetha, and the black clad man in beskar, frowning. The Fan four collectively grumble, 'Aw!' once they're released, but as soon as the droid is out of earshot, Peeka cries, "So when are we going? Where are we going?" 'Jasper' sighs, deflating. "Fine. It's fine," he says a bit sourly. "Suit yourself, I suppose." |
| Zetha Rumir | Well. She did what she came to do. Apologies have been given and at least 'Jasper' didn't turn her away immediately. Win. So, since she's already standing, Zetha turns and begins to head back towards the exit of the cantina. Though when she spies Cayde, an eyebrow lifts and she shifts to head towards the Padawan and the hazel eyed man she had spoken to shortly before. "Well. That didn't go as badly as I imagined it." Then she smiles to Cayde. "Fancy seeing you here. I wouldn't expect a Jedi Padawan to waltz into a shady cantina..." |
| Navi | "When I can get us a shuttle and some supplies for the trip. As for where... you'll find out when we have everything ready," Navi replies. "But I /can/ tell you that your father left Tenoo a day after that Marauder arrived at the colony. That's what we know as of now." She starts off toward the tram port. "Let's go home. I'm sure your mother is worried sick about you. And if I were you, I wouldn't mention going to the spaceport. You're lucky you didn't get charged with grand theft starship." |
| Cayde Alexis | [No but neither do you] Cayde replies, noticing him frowning toward the man Zetha had been with moments ago. He looks over toward the Twi'lek when she approaches. Well, she seems to be in better spirits. So that's good. [Everything is ok] he asks. Or at least, it was supposed to be a question, anyway. |
| Athena | The doctor suddenly stands up, not replying to Cayde's comment. It will become apparent to Zetha and Cayde that 'Jasper' has gotten up and is discreetly heading for a side exit to the cantina. He tries to follow 'Jasper', but he slips out and away too quickly. He sighs, and shakes his head, then turns to Zetha. "He didn't mistreat you, then?" he asks her. "Is that today," Peeka asks impertinently, "Because I don't want to wait until tomorrow!" She folds her arms indignantly. "Why can't you just tell us now? It's not gonna make a difference, you'll have to tell us eventually!" But before Navi can reply, she'll notice the boys have gotten distracted by an unfamiliar black clad figure in a hood heading for the tramway that goes only to the colony. "He's wearing beskar!!" one of the boys points out. "What's he -doing-? I don't think he's one of the colonists?" |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha notices the quick exit, but she doesn't move an inch. She apologized, declined further chances for interaction, and that is where it will die. Maybe. To Cayde, she smiles and nods. "Things are getting better, Cayde. Thank you. Sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you earlier. I had a lot on my mind." Then she looks back to the doctor and shakes her head. "No. He didn't mistreat me." Not in any way that she won't recover from at this point. Then, as if remembering a little more news, she looks back to Cayde. "Oh! Wiis is going to let me come back to the junkyard and work on projects. And apparently her front door got broken so I'm going to fix that too. I can't stay in my room again just yet but I apologized and there is progress." The young Twi'lek beams. "And earlier, Crane gave me a datacard with some information about a therapist. Which I may utilize. I think I could use some help navigating things and having a more...neutral party to talk to? Yes. That." |
| Navi | "Better follow him," Navi observes softly, moving to follow them a few yards back. It'll get them home, right? Besides, the guy might actually be some suspicious individual. Most Mandalorians don't try to hide the way this one does, right? |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde noticed how distinctly clandestine the man had been about his exit. Or at least, attempted to be. But the way he was skulking actually kind of made him stand out. When she mentions a therapist, he glances over at Soren. Because who else could it be? Sadly, he doesn't take his own counsel. [He is here] he signs. |
| Athena | "Good," he says, but it's clear he's a little distracted. "Look, I'm... going to head back to the colony," he says to Cayde. "Stay safe, and don't hang around here without Navi too long, alright?" And then he heads for the door. The Chadra Fans skitter after him, leaving Navi behind. "Waaait!" Peeka cries, hurrying after the brothers onto the tramway. |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha raises a brow and then tilts her head. "Who's here?" Asking this to Cayde while the doctor whose name she does not know seems distracted. Then begins to talk about going back to the Colony. She smiles. "Don't worry. I'll make sure Cayde behaves...should get back to the convent anyway." |
| Cayde Alexis | [Your therapist] Cayde explains, and nods toward Soren. He frowns slightly at the mention of making sure he behaves. He isn't a child. |
