Athena Shortly after chatting with the mayor about the orphans from Coruscant, Rykard and Cayde head back to Aklyrr for a bit to help with some administrative duties Thaarin had requested assistance with.

But before they go to the comms center to meet with the Chiss man, Rykard pulls Cayde aside for a ... talk.
Cayde Alexis     Now what was it this time? Cayde follows his master, already searching for hints of what he might have done wrong -this- time...
Athena Rykard doesn't seem happy. "Why did you say what you said to the stowaways?" the elder Ikkrukki man says, frowning.

"The mayor was shocked."
Cayde Alexis     [Which part] Cayde asks, sighing. He probably knows which part it was, but this is another question dodging tactic.
Athena Rykard frowns even deeper. "You know which part! Don't try to fool me, Cayde. Answer the question. You know exactly what I mean."
Cayde Alexis     Cayde flops down onto the plain grey seating set up in his master's quarters.

Well he'd said it because he honestly believed they would be better off back on Coruscant. At least in the city, there were more resources and programs available. [...Coruscant better...stowaways are naive and ignorant...maybe tired of same problems but only trade for new problems]
Athena Rykard folds his arms. "And how do you know this?" he asks the young padawan.

"Coruscant's poverty rate is one of the highest in the sector, did you know that?"
Cayde Alexis     [Bigger city...more people...more facilities] Cayde points out. [Few people here or any experts to help]

[But maybe mayor's plan will work] he adds, shrugging. [He can at least try]
Athena "I'm not talking about sheer numbers Cayde," Rykard says, "I'm talking percentages. Forty percent of Coruscant's citizens live below the poverty line. The welfare programs there are very hit or miss. Most end up turning many away because they either don't care, or don't have the resources to take in certain people."

Rykard waves a hand dismissively at Cayde. "I'm not saying you weren't suggesting that. But we have to represent the Jedi well," he says, "do you understand what I'm saying?"
Cayde Alexis     [But we have none here...few better than zero...only if mayor's plan works]

Cayde stares at the floor, his expression downcast suddenly. Well he thought he was. [I thought it was best...] That's the truth, at least. [I am sorry master]
Athena "A new program has higher chances of success if the mayor can get support for it," he says, "and the people of Kublop seem excited for it. The programs on Coruscant don't work well because there's too many people wanting to get into a welfare program that can't support them because most of Coruscant's population doesn't care for charity."

Rykard sighs. "I know you meant well," He says, "but it was lost in translation."
Cayde Alexis     Cayde continues to look downcast. Of course it was. It always is, isn't it?

He knew he would be terrible at this job...why had he volunteered for it?

He doesn't say anything else for the moment.
Athena "Look," Rykard says, "you're improving. But you still have work to do. The Council wants a report from me about you soon, so I want you to pick back up on your lessons with Thaarin again." He stands, and starts heading for the comms center. "We can talk to him now."
Cayde Alexis     [I am terrible at this] Cayde suddenly points out. To be fair, Rykard probably knew this would happen. There was almost always a teenaged pity-party. It was inevitable these days, anytime anyone criticized.

The padawan does at least start to follow him out, although there is a dragging of feet.
Athena "Being terrible at something is not an excuse to not do it," Rykard chides, "you're getting better, and you'll continue to do so if you keep working on it."

The comms center is just ahead, and Rykard will wait at the entrance for him since he's dragging his feet
Cayde Alexis     [I will do it...] Cayde argues, once he finally arrives at the comms center.
Athena "Very good then," Rykard says, and steps aside for Cayde to go in first.

Thaarin is already at the front, waiting for them. "Marshal," he greets Rykard formally, and then offers Cayde a small smile and a nod.
Cayde Alexis     Cayde sighs heavily, really not fond of the idea of -more- of this and beginning to regret having volunteered in the first place. But he offers a polite bow toward Thaarin anyway.
Athena Rykard first discusses with Thaarin the arrangements for them to go to Coruscant for Weniscio's trial. Looks like the court date had been pushed out so they wouldn't be heading there just yet.

Then he gestures at Cayde. "I know you were helping him before," he says, "I understand I took an absence of leave and you became busy with your promotion, but I'd like for you to pick his lessons back up."

Thaarin glances at Cayde hesitantly. "Why, of course, Marshal. Shall they be weekly?"
Cayde Alexis     Cayde nods glumly when Thaarin glances at him for some sort of confirmation or assurance of his agreement, or something.

Not that he doesn't like the lessons, but he always feels like this every time he fails at something or says the wrong thing. When the blue man suggests weekly lessons, he just looks over at his master.
Athena "Twice a week, if possible," Rykard says. "Now, I'm due for a meeting with the doctor. I'll be back in an hour, in that time you two ought to get some work done and figured out which days are best to meet."

He then nods, and heads for the door. "I'll see you later," he says to Cayde as he exits.

", What's wrong?" Thaarin asks Cayde, "I thought you were enjoying the lessons."
Cayde Alexis     Cayde watches his master leave, then turns to Thaarin.

[Nothing] he signs quickly. [I enjoy them] he tries to clarify, nodding. [But I am no good at this]
Athena Thaarin smiles. "I'm sure that won't last for long. Twice a week and you'll be ready to become a senator."

"Now let's head back to the hab suite to see if we can't get a lesson or two in before Rykard gets back..."
