| Athena | Less than twenty minutes later, Zetha and Caine are arriving at the junkyard. The baron is still following Zetha's lead, rather unsure as to where she's leading him exactly, the junkyard seemed like a decent place to hide, but that all would have depended on where in the junkyard they were going. Cayde's probably there, already. Maybe. If not, he's close on their tail. Mondrian (F) hadn't wandered terribly far, she's still heading for the tram station, seeming to have forgotten about Navi's request and the Baron for the time being. And Jorn, well, he'll have to decide what he makes of it all. Could the Baron's claims about cloning Tarre be true, to any extent? Was it possible that Arkanians had Tarre's DNA, too? And if so, what would they do with it? Would he regret deciding to work for the Baron, though he'd openly admitted to offering him over a million credits? Perhaps. Regardless, Volken and his supposed mentor, the young Padawan Cayde have taken off in pursuit of the Caine, who'd apparently run off with the young scrapper from the junkyard while the Republic officer had gotten overly emotional and despite Navi's request to arrest him, had stormed off towards the tram station. |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha will lead the Baron off side of the actual house in the junkyard that she calls home. Instead going to the direlect ships - and more specifically - the one that's been a passion project for her and Thaarin. Once there, she'll look to the Baron and then shakes her head. "You've got me in a real right kriffing mess and at this point, I really am finding it hard to keep helping you in any capacity. Especially since I probably just pissed off my friends and a Mandalorian who could grind me into the dirt with one punch. Not to mention, he just wound up saving the life of my significant other. So. While we still have a minimal amount of time before we're likely found. How about you tell me the truth. All of it. And I mean the honest to galaxy truth. Or I'll leave you here, let them find you, and be done with all of this." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde is, indeed, more or less there already. But he doesn't interrupt Zetha's conversation with Caine. Instead, he just stands there and watches them pensively, waiting to see what the Baron's response will be whilst searching his intentions. |
| Jorn | Either Baron would have had to agree to Jorn's terms, or Jorn would be off with Volken. It was going off of Volken's suggestion of more credits than originally offered, and then Jorn, Volken, Ellari, etc. would decide about the power vacuum. In Jorn's mind, Baron has already been too sloppy. Allowing him to continue such sloppiness officially crosses into "Shame on them" territory. Jorn will simply say this, "If you have to ask about the price, then clearly you can't afford it." Because deep down, Jorn still doesn't trust this to not be riddled with some kind of hole, flaw or even trap. |
| Navi | "Mondrian!" Navi runs up to the weeping Republic Security officer. "I brought this back for you," she says, offering Mondrian's (F) pistol that she'd left on the floor of the cantina. "Can we talk? I know you're very upset, and I want to help, because this isn't even remotely like you." |
| Volken Mons | If Cayde was moving in a direction there's a good chance he had honed in on the location of the baron given his capabiliteis. Navi is nowhere to be seen so - off Volken goes once he sees where the Padawan is headed. Seeing Jorn helps confirm this as well. No Ellari in sight though and frankly his plan of action does not factor her in any longer. Er'gi, however, he figures will follow as well if for no other reason that at this point the other large Mandalorian has no other options himself. So he also draws near to the junkyard and The Baron's location and... Zetha? Volken's expression may be hidden by his helmet but his surprise does filter through his body language as he slows down his approach and then triggers his comm to tag in Jorn and Er'gi. <<What's going on? Why's Caine with her? Don't qagree to anything yet. We still don't have any reason to just trust Caine at his word until the boy...I mean Cayde...gets into his head..>> |
| Athena | The Baron, not wearing his helmet, rolls his eyes. "Fine, but you know, you're not obligated to do anything for me if you don't want to," he says, "but if you want to see the lab--" But then she says something about her 'significant other' and he hones in on that. "You're seeing someone?" He might have been about to answer her question, even, but then Cayde shows up, and then not long after that, Jorn does too. This ruins things, to a degree. "Did you send for him? What is this, some kind of set up?" the Baron says, "I thought you were -agreeing- to -help- me! " He shakes his head at Jorn. "What? Nine hundred thousand credits isn't enough for you? I thought you wanted practice with that newfound Saber of yours." Mondrian (F) turns around to face Navi. She wipes at her eyes furiously. "And what would you know? As if you know what's like me and what's not." She doesn't take her gun. "Besides, if you were me, you wouldn't be acting like you right now either." |
| Zetha Rumir | "THAT'S what you took from that?!" Zetha shouts and then she notices Cayde and Jorn and she just tosses her arms into the air. "You know what. Forget it. Forget ALL of this..." She turns and starts to walk away. "Do what you want with him. Get whatever truth he spins out of him. But let me say this aloud and to all of you. Keep me the kriff out of it. All of you. Every ONE of you. I am DONE!" She's about to walk away when something strikes her and she turns back. "No. You know what. You don't get to stand there and tell me I didn't have to do anything for you. Because that may be what YOU believe...but you didn't stand in this very junkyard one night with one of those marauders from the gorge holding a blaster to your head and then threatening the only mother you've known with basically telling you do this or people die. So don't stand there and assume you've had all the pull here because you didn't. You have no idea what I've been up against in all this...but at this point. I'll let the Marauder come after me...because this is going to kill me either way." |
| Jorn | "We have history," Jorn says back to Zetha as there is a lot there. Zetha doesn't know what it's like to hear bombs going offf while someone imprisoned you in their house. He's going to judge her outburst on either stupidity or naievity. "I just don't trust you Baron. so, I want assurance you won't make things worse, because that's your track record. Political infrastructure, friendships, kinships, my life, relationships with people that don't like you anymore," he says all of this casually because this is the only way he can be an ass without drawing a gun. It's a small victory at least. |
| Volken Mons | "-Don't- move." says Volken towards Zetha. It's time for Big Scary Man apparently. He's not in the mood any more. "-You- choose to try and take him out of the cantina when we were trying to get tot he bottom fo this so you -are- involved now, like it or not, girl. I want answers and I want to get to the bottom of this now. I don't -care- about the credits anymore. I -got- a rich beautiful woman that will pay me whatever I ask but -you've- chosen to try and cause this chaos.." On that eh points to Caine, "So -you're- going to answer for this and we're gonna piece this together. Here and now. No more deals. No more bargains. " Wit that, he turns towards Cayde, "B--Cayde... You need to go into his head. See if he's being truthful. If these Arkanians -are- doing experiments...trying to clone an ancient Mandalorian who had your sorc---your force powers.." It seems some things are gradually rubbing off on him. "Now it's making more snese to me. How Master Volk insisted on trying to tell us about the history of the Dark Saber. Where it came from. Why. This ancient Mandalorian - if they clone him and are able to control him .. he'll come for the Dark Saber and it'll effect Mandalore -and- The Republic. Dont' wait for 'permission' for your Master. You need to make choices in the field. In the moment. Isnt' that what Jedi do?" He points to Caine, "We can't just trust his word alone. We need to know what he knows." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde stares at Zetha's outburst, her emotions clearly running hot. He sighs deeply. This was Amarik's fault. He should have told her a long time ago, but if he tells her now, she'll probably be upset at him even more for not telling her earlier. But, it was going to have to come out one way or another. He touches her mind gently, with an assurance that this 'marauder' she was talking about wasn't going to harm her. In that, he is very confident--and she can feel it. But he won't just leave it at this vague notion. He's ready to tell her everything--that is, if she's open to it. |
| Navi | "I can take a pretty good guess, Mondrian. I've seen you a number of times these last two years, and you were /never/ this upset. I've never even seen you /cry/ before," Navi says softly, replacing the pistol under the strapping on her medic's satchel for now. She moves to hug the tearful woman, but won't force the issue if Mondrian (F) refuses her. "Won't you let me help you? Because right now, you look like you really need a shoulder," she says softly. |
| Athena | The Baron sighs, letting Zetha spill her emotions, raw and unfiltered. She won't get much of a reaction from him, instead, he just avoids eye contact and pretends to look bored. "He'll do no such thing," he finally says, "He still technically works for me, I'll make sure he doesn't harm you or anyone you love." "I don't care," he says Jorn. "You don't have to trust me. You want a down payment, sure, fine. That's not a problem. But you do have to realize what you stand to lose, what we all stand to lose, if I do end up being right. Perhaps I won't, but are you willing to take that risk?" He chuckles when Volken starts trying to appeal the young Jedi. "The utreekov actually brings up some valid points," he says, "I'm willing to participate in this exercise. But I don't want anyone else around." He glances at Cayde. Perhaps Zetha will take Cayde up on his offer, perhaps she won't. Thaarin suddenly appears in the doorway, looking both bewildered and concerned. He nearly doesn't see Zetha standing there and bumps into her softly. Immediately noticing her distress, he takes her hand gently and pulls her away from the others. "What's going on? Are you alright?" Surprisingly, Mondrian (F) doesn't refuse Navi. She lets her hug her, and doesn't say anything for a moment. "You can't. You can't help me, Navi." |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha feels Cayde in her mind and while there's a sort of comfort that comes from him knowing the marauder isn't going to harm her she can also feel that there's...more. Though she's partly distracted when Volken snaps at her but that's just more of a nope, not going anywhere. A glance to Cayde and she'll answer in his mind since she can feel him there <<What is it?>> Even the mental voice is likely strained in a pleading way. She glances back to Volken afterwards before looking to Caine and back again. "You have no idea...the things this....baron has asked me to do. Including something he wanted done earlier...back at the Cantina. Before then even but especially when he had you all together. I wasn't -going- to do this, mind you, I swear I wasn't but..." And then she's being pulled away by Thaarin. She tries as hard but also carefully as she can to pull from him. Without saying a word to the Chiss man she turns back to the others. "He wanted your DNA. This one did. Jasper. Caine. Baron. Whatever the kriff he goes by. Jedi as well. If I could get it. Then he was going to take me to his lab. That's all I know. That's all I've been trying to do...is get to that lab. But not for myself. For those who know the lab exists but haven't been able to get there. And maybe this blows it all wide open but I don't CARE anymore because I can't because I am tired and everyone is tired and this has to end. Now." |
| Navi | Navi hugs Mondrian tightly, cradling the weeping woman against her. "I was on track to be a Jedi Knight once upon a time," she whispers gently. "Try me." |
| Cayde Alexis | << If I tell you...have to promise to keep secret >> Cayde begins cautiously. The padawan looks over to Caine, and then Volken. [Where then] he signs, since the Baron seems to want this done in private. Although he is a bit uncomfortable doing this alone, without his master or even his master's approval... |
| Volken Mons | "I said -don't- go anywhere." This last bit is directed towards Thaeerin as he attempts to move Zetha. "None of you. Stay where you -are-." He takes a few steps forward now, approaching Zetha and Thaerin and then turns his attedntion towards Zetha to take in what she's saying. As her explanations continue, Volken remain quiet. Shaking his head and then turning away from her only when Caine remarks on his stipulations for being mind probed. He then looks back at Zetha, still silent. Holding her in emotionless gaze aused by the presence of his helmet. He then finally rumbles, "Alright.." His voice has less an edge there, as if accepting her words at face value. He then looks towards Cayde and then as if sensing his nervousness rumbles at Caine: "No. You don't get to just be by yourself with him. I'll be there at minimum. Jorn and Er'gi guard the outside. You are -not- calling all the shots anymore." With that he moves to stand near Cayde. |
| Jorn | "You're reckless. You're tactless. I think something isn't right here because you either planned it or you have something in the plan meant to harm us," both are valid in his eyes as he moves to not bad far from Volken and a few others he trusts. Jorn expects this mission to go sideways just because the Baron's fingers are all over this one. Taht seems to be the man's luck lately. |
| Athena | "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter much now, does it," the Baron muses, placing a hand on his chin, "If I want help it would seem I'm going to have to take anyone who wants to go there to it. So you're off the hook now, more or less," He says to Zetha. Perhaps that will comfort the young Twi'lek girl. "Oh, anywhere," he says to Cayde, "just somewhere I don't have to fear that someone might at any moment, behead me while I'm vulnerable." Thaarin's eyes narrow into scarlet wolf eyes. "Don't tell me what to do," he says to Volken, coming to stand in front of Zetha. "What authority do you have to tell Cayde to investigate the Baron? His Master isn't here, are you aware that if this goes sideways, his twin brother isn't going to be only one in the psych ward? Perhaps if you'd paid closer attention to the news you'd know that incident with that farmer and his family just outside of Kublop wasn't some hoax to scare everyone, it was very real and they're still receiving trauma therapy." "You're on Republic territory, stop acting like you have jurisdiction here, or like you know what you're dealing with. I'm going to summon his Master, and we'll go from there. Cayde," he says, glancing to the young padawan. "Don't do anything until Rykard arrives. You know what could happen if things get out of hand. Especially if the Baron decides to resist given the circumstances aren't in his favor." With that, he turns aside to send Rykard a text transmission. "Plan to -harm- you?" the Baron scoffs at Jorn. "Please. Your ego is self inflated. The harm I wanted to cause you already happened. It's a done deal. I'd basically forgotten about you until you turned up here, and made my business yours." "No!" Mondrian (F) says, suddenly jerking away. "It's not like that. This isn't a matter of power, or influence, or -anything-. It's just what it is. I have to accept it. It's horrible, but it is what it is. My brother is dead, and I have to believe that. It's what's best for everyone." |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha glves a glance to Cayde and a single nod of her head. <<I promise.>> Though there may be one person she won't keep the promise from once things are revealed. She looks back at Volken and gives him a tilt of her head. "Someone pulling me out of the way isn't me trying to leave. I wasn't going to go anywhere..." Then Thaarin is standing in front of her and becoming all authoritative. She almost thought he was going to yell at her for giving some things away. She takes a breath and then looks to Cayde again because somewhere in all this is a conversation that's being hand around everything else going on. And once Thaarin is in front of her, Zetha may reach out to touch his closest hand, almost as if some form of contact would help to ground her a little bit. |
| Navi | Navi raises her hands placatingly. "That's not what I meant," she says softly. "I'm not sure how to explain this, but Jedi were expected to possess the deepest commitment to the Republic and the galaxy at large. In simple terms, Jedi must /care/." "And I /do/ care. I care a lot. You're grieving. I want to help you deal with that grief. No strings attached." |
| Volken Mons | "Shut up." Is all Volken spares Thaarin:. Then after a second he adds as if adding a little seasoning. "--And as to what authority? Mine.." He lifts a massive hand up and points at one of his arms. A light flix causes one of his colossal biceps to swell, creaking his Mandalorian armor as the gargantuan mass rises towards absurd dimensions as if to say 'You have no idea what I can do if I want to.' without actually verbalizing it. Big Scary Man is to be Big and Scary. Until he addresses Cayde. Like a switch, Volken's deep voice becomes more gentle, reassuring and confident... "You've the right to make your own choices but right now we need your help. You've never had a problem running head first into things when you've been needed. You didn't at that gambling bar on Coruscant or in detention center. You didn't on Jedha. This is no different. Your masters have told me somethings about The Force and how it guides you all. I don't understand it - but what is -it- telling you to do right now?"" |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde opens his mind to Zetha, although she will likely find it a rather confusing place. There are images of...those flowers that Crane likes to give her and other people. Crane's boat drifting serenely down the river with her, like it had on their first date--that memory is brought to the forefront of her mind. The Tholothian truly cares for her, that much is clear. But there are other notions that follow--he'd had a hard past. Orphaned at a young age--as Cayde himself was, and Zetha too. Hard past...wrong crowd. It was a common occurrence in the galaxy. Xera Graf is in there too, but it's unclear what exactly her connection to all this is. Other than that she's afraid of Cayde, and of Crane, too. But again, the reason for this isn't clear. Wiis is seen with the cortosis... However, the vision fades when Thaarin mentions the incident at the farm, as it is replaced by a deep sinking feeling. And then Volken pointing out how he'd rushed into things without consulting anyone before. [But it should be...different...] he signs, staring at the ground. Because all those situations had turned out -so- well everyone, hadn't they? [I wait for Master] |
| Athena | Thaarin doesn't back down or look away, but nor does he reply to Volken. If he's intimidated, he doesn't show it, but that's pretty on par for the Chiss man. He's hard to read, most of the time. He lets Zetha hold his hand for a hot second, and then he backs away from Volken, finally. He pulls his hand away from Zetha, folding his arms. When Cayde says he's going to opt to wait for his Master, Thaarin's expression softens. "An excellent choice," he tells the young padawan. Then his gaze slides over to Volken, and he smirks. Suddenly, Rykard appears, looking disgruntled. "You've upset him!" he exclaims. Although who he's addressing exactly remains a mystery. "Cayde! Are you alright? I got Thaarin's transmission." He glances at the Chiss man and then glances at Volken, looking mildly annoyed. "This is Jedi business now," he says, "You may -watch-, but from afar. It's the safest and most responsible way to conduct things, given Cayde's abilities," he tells the Mandalorian. "Thaarin, will you set up a cam droid? Everyone else will be able to witness the feed, except myself, you, Cayde, and I." The baron shoots Volken and Jorn a derisive look. "Looks like you've lost this round," he comments dryly. |
| Athena | "..." Mondrian (F) doesn't say anything right away. "Look, I appreciate it. But I'm going to be honest. I don't actually know how to let you help. I've always told myself that the more help I received from other people, the more I'd never be seen as independent. Because that's how my parents and brother always were towards me. I was the baby. And no matter how many years passed, somehow, I never grew up in their eyes." |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha just blinks from what Cayde showed her, because it was very Crane-focused and so she feels like she has to mentally decipher that bit. Then Thaarin is pulling away, and there's a Rykard. She's suddenly very -very- glad Wiis doesn't come around to this side of the junkyard. "...Can I go now?..." |
| Volken Mons | Ignoring Caine, Volken shoots Rykard what passes for a glare given his helmet. "Thsi is NOT Jedi business, vod. This is -both- of our business. The Dark Sabre is a sacred Mandalorian relic. The person being cloned potentially is a Mandalorian. The -threat- is potentially to both Mandalorian -and- Jedi. So yes we -will- watch and you will -not- withhold information from us or no deal." He then gives Caine a withering look finally - or at least it's withering in body language. His helmet is still on. He then just looks at Cayde, silently. His disappointment is palpable to any psychic present - but he says nothing. He -did- say the choice was Cayde's and this is the directio the padawan opted to go in, that made him comfortable. So he just waits now for the next movement. |
| Navi | "You can be independent and still have friends and allies, Mondrian. Half the secret of being independent is knowing when to ask for help," Navi replies gently. "Take it from someone who has been independent for a long time, and not always willingly." "You've got my comm code. If things ever start to feel like they're becoming too much, just contact me, or come find me." |
| Athena | Rykard sighs. "Yes, fine, I'm sorry, that wasn't very clear, those who will be physically present for the interrogation must only be myself, Thaarin, and Cayde. It isn't so much Jedi business as it is specifically Cayde and I's business. We have to do it this way. There's no safer way to do this," he says, and suddenly a pained look will come over the old Master's face. And when Zetha asks if she can go now, he nods. "Yes, please. All of you. Please leave. Thaarin will have the remote feed set up within the next five to ten minutes and if you'd like to watch it, he can send you the frequency it will be on. This is for your own safety. Zetha, go find your mother and make sure she exits the premises as well. I know the house is far off but it's better to be safe than sorry." With that he turns to Cayde. <Come padawan. Let us meditate while Thaarin sets up the cam droid> He then seats himself on the floor, crossed legged, and closes his eyes. While Cayde and Rykard are preparing, Thaarin leans over to Zetha and whispers in her ear, "I got your text transmission. We can talk later." And then he goes to start setting up the cam droid. "That's the thing!" Mondrian says, sounding frustrated. "I don't know when to ask for help. My default is to just never ask for help. But now I feel so alone, and afraid, and hopeless." "They already feel like too much. But you're too busy, obviously. So I guess we'll just 'rain check' that," she says bitterly. |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha gives a look to Thaarin and a quick nod, then she glances to Cayde. She just might have a use for what he told her, and hey, if she -confronts- someone about things...it means she kept her promise to not TELL anyone anything. Semantics. Zetha uses them wisely. Most of the time. Either way, she turns and walks away, leaving the shipyard and going towards the house to see if her mom is even home. She night not be home. So Zetha might be in the total absolute clear in having to tell the Zabrak woman anything. While walking, she decidedly sends a message to Crane/Amarik/Zealot. <<Sorry. Lots went down. Can we meet somewhere soon?>> |
| Navi | Navi sighs quietly and moves to hug Mondrian again, but again won't push if Mondrian refuses. "Is that what caused you to fall apart? That I asked for a hold on getting a drink with you because it sounded like a fight was about to break out inside the bar?" she asks softly, still trying hard to soothe the other woman's wounded feelings. "I'm sorry I wasn't available. If I had been, I would've taken the offer." "I've been on duty almost constantly ever since the monsoon. It's starting to get to me. But Cayde can handle the mess with the Mandalorians. Probably. I'm more worried about you." |
| Volken Mons | "No." Volken isn't budging, "I will be present. If this Republic Or'dinii insists on his involvement because of protocol or whatever, fine. But Caine is one of -my- people and has caused problems that have caused us grief and we've been pursuing him all this time. Now he brings word of a threat that endangers us all. I will be in that room with you and Jorn and Er'gi will be outside and can watch the feed." Volken leans in now... "iListen to me carefully. I"ve been dragged through too much at this point to be sitting on the outside and allow any chance of this slipping through our fingers. If there is a danger I will accept that risk. That is my choice to make." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde catches Zetha's gaze for that moment. The vision hadn't been very clear to her, had it? Well, maybe it was for the best anyway. To let Amarik decide for himself whether he would tell her the truth or continue to lie to the one he loves. The padawan sits down with his master, but the Volken doesn't budge. The large man has become rather stubborn, it seems. He could try to 'convince' the Mandalorian in his own way, that it would be best for him to join the others. But of course, the man never did like that. He stares up at the gargantuan man. [Not safe...you know about farm...] he signs. The last thing he wants is for things to go wrong, and for something much -worse- to happen to Volken. |
| Athena | << Yes my love uwu I'm heading for the junkyard now. I'll meet you there >> Crane replies. Well, sadly, she is home. Aaaaand the Mayor is there with his son, too. They're out front, arguing about only light knows what. When Zetha appears, Wiis looks annoyed. "Zetha! By the light, where have you been all day?!" Mondrian (F) doesn't reply, but she does let Navi hug her again. "I mean..." she sighs. "I just.. it's not really about that comment specifically. My whole life has been a long ass string of excuses from people who should have showed up, but didn't. Ar'drac and I ..." she swallows. "We were raised religious, you know. And my parents were really involved in the Church. But because of that, they just never had time for us. It was always, 'How about tomorrow?' or 'Maybe later' or 'When I'm less busy.' I'm just so tired of all these 'rain checks' and 'next weeks'." She facepalms. "It's stupid, though. And selfish. You should just go. The problems at hand are way more pressing than my repressed insecurities." Rykard doesn't even reply to Volken. He's mid-meditation. He's aware of what's going on, though. But it's clear he wants to let Cayde be the one to handle this. |
| Navi | "Cayde can handle it for now. I'll catch up with him later and get the details from him. Right now I'm more worried about you," Navi replies, still softly. |
| Zetha Rumir | <<Actually. Stay where you are. I'll come meet you. Junkyard's not going to be safe for Jedi affair reasons.>> Zetha manages to type back out to Crane just before she looks up to see her mother, the mayor and the mayor's son. She groans inwardly. "Doing my due diligence helping the city fix itself. Like I've done for many monsoons in the past, mother. But right now, I need all of you to leave the junkyard. Just for a little while. There's some Jedi business happening over by the ships and we all think it's best if no one else was really around right now. And they can't really leave without losing a significant presence of investigative progress." Yes. That's how to word it. Not that Wiis is going to willingly budge. "Actually. I'm just going to say it. You want what happened in the jungle happen here, then by all means stay. If you'd rather avoid it. Leave. I'm going to leave it up to you. And if you'll excuse me again. I need to go see a man about a problem he and I might be having in about five minutes..." Then she turns and just...leaves. |
| Volken Mons | Volken is silent when Cayde signs that to him. He says nothing. He next looks to Rykard and then back to Cayde. Seemingly thinking. Processing. Then: "You left me in the lurch before, Cade, over the cortosis. Which was also a Mandalorian matter. Despite that I still came to you because I keep feeling like you've potential that you keep getting knocked around about... Getting in your own way..." He waves a hand now and relents. Was it Cayde's plea or did he also sense that Rykard was, in his own way, testing the Padawan. "Fine. Do it your way." he rumbles, "But remember.. trust isn't as easily fixed when broken and I"ve doin' -alot- of the trusting lately and it hasn't worked out well for us..." With that, he turns and begins walknig over towards the other Mandalorians. To Caine, he fianlly gives a slightly sarcastic rumble of, "Hope you got a strong brain..." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde's expression hardens at the mention of the cortosis. Yeah, that was still a sore subject, it seems. A subject he still doesn't seem to agree with Volken about. But he doesn't say anything more before the man finally relents and goes to join the others. Instead he just focuses on meditating to prepare for the task at hand. |
| Athena | "Really," Mondrian says, seeming shocked. "No. No you shouldn't. This is stupid! You shouldn't be worrying about me. I'll.. I'll be fine." But it seems pretty clear that Mondrian doesn't want Navi to leave. << Oh, okay. Meet me by the flower market? >> the Tholothian messages back. Wiis' expression softens when she says she'd been out and about all day helping Kublop rebuild. But she doesn't really get to comment, or ask questions before Zetha takes off again. Caine's lips press into a thin line as Volken leaves. He's not saying it, but he is afraid. And Cayde will be able to sense it. Rykard meditates for what feels like too long. Anyway, Cayde will likely finish before his Master does, and perhaps find himself fidgeting, or trying to meditate longer while Rykard remains in a trance. But during this time, the Baron actually addresses Cayde, before he can either go back to fidgeting or trying to meditate. "I'm sorry I called you a child earlier," he says softly. Meanwhile, outside, several minutes after he's left the premises, Volken will see Thaarin exiting, a datapad in hand as he finishes up configuring the cam droid. Oh yeah, hadn't Rykard said he would give him the frequency to watch the feed...? |
| Navi | "It's fine," Navi says gently, continuing to hug Mondrian for as long as she seems to want. |
| Zetha Rumir | The answer to Crane's message doesn't come with a typed out reply. It comes with a presence. Zetha walks up to the Tholothian man after a few minutes of him likely waiting but when he sees her. She doesn't look happy. She lookes, in many ways, drained. In one way, upset. And she doesn't begin with a hello, or a how are you. She stops right in front of him with her arms crossed over her chest. "I'm upset. So I'm going to ask you to forgive me now for what I am about to say. But I've been pushed around by a lot of people lately. Pulled in many directions. And I'm tired of it. So I'm going to ask you now one question. Just one. And I want you to think about how you decide to answer me before actually answering me. Are you hiding anything from me? And I do mean -anything-." |
| Volken Mons | If Caine is nervous. Good. Volken is all out of sympathy points for many of those involved. But not all. As to Thaarin: "Yo. Over here. the frequency, vod." Voklens' arms are folded. He's not sure where Er'gi and Jorn have wandered off to but if somebody is going to see this through it might as well be him. "I'm sure I can figure out how to tune in with my teeny tiny Mandalorian brain." He gestures with a massive hand, "Let's have it." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde tries to keep meditating when he sees that his master isn't finished yet, but finds himself having a difficult time focusing. He wonders why Rykard is still in a trance, but doesn't want to disturb him, either. So he had begun to fidget with his lightsaber, pulling the hilt apart and re-assembling it again with the Force. And that was when Caine starts apologizing. He stops his fidgeting, putting the saber back on his belt before turning to regard the baron warily. [You are afraid] he signs. Apologizing wasn't going to reduce any risks. [Fear only increase danger...let go of emotion] |
| Athena | Mondrian rests her head on Navi's shoulder, her eyes brimming with tears. She doesn't wipe them away this time, though. Instead, she just lets them flow. After awhile, she says softly. "Can we go back to Aklyrr? I think it's warmer over there." Crane immediately averts his eyes. He doesn't say anything for a few minutes, instead, just stares out at the crowd. "You found out, didn't you?" he says softly. "About my ex." Thaarin looks over at Volken, his expression unreadable. He doesn't quite hold out the datapad to Volken, but if the Mandalorian reaches over to grab it from him, he'll only get a little more than minimal resistance. After a moment, Thaarin finally asks, "Where's Ellari?" Caine laughs quietly. "Yes," he says, "I'm afraid. Who wouldn't be?" He pauses. "But I think I'll have a lot less fear if we... just chatted a little before." "You're not the first Jedi I've met, you know." |
| Zetha Rumir | It's Zetha's turn to not reply for a minute or two. She's going back to what Cayde showed her...but how what he showed her was after he tried to comfort her on the fact that the marauder wasn't really going to hurt her. How he then went into Crane's past - trying to show her something but then got distracted. "No. But if you're willing to tell me about your ex I might listen. After I make this a little more clear." She pauses, then shakes her head and takes a breath. "Does the name Zealot mean anything to you?" |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde nods at Caine. If it helped, he supposed. [Who was it] he asks, when the baron tells him he'd met another Jedi before. |
| Volken Mons | "I dont' know..." volunteers Volken, easily. "We're not on speaking terms at the moment aftre what happened during the storm. The woman thinks she can do no wrong and justify it as her doing right even ifhe results end up in disaster for her and others. A stubborn arrogant streak typical of House Vizsla supporters. She can jump off a cliff with a malfunctioning jetpack right now for all I care."" Volken looks over the datapad to quickly confirm the information there and see if it is legit or not. "Why? You need to talk to her?" |
| Navi | "Of course," Navi replies softly. "Give me just a moment." She quickly composes a message on her comlink explaining that she's returning to Aklyrr Bend with Mondrian to see her safely home. After she sends it, she offers her hand to Mondrian. "I'll stay with you for as long as you want," she promises. "It's the least I can do." |
| Athena | Crane blinks, "I... think my ex was involved with him, somehow. She told me one night, after we got really drunk on Corellian whiskey one night." He looks ashamed. "I don't remember details. Both of us blacked out. She left me after that, without giving any kind of explanation or leaving me any kind of note. I haven't drank since." "I know they're both planetside, and you've probably either met or seen both of them at some point. Zealot's one of the marauders, right? That's what the folk over at Hap keep saying." This will track - probably ever since the colonists had set up at Aklyrr Bend, the gossip at Hap's had mainly revolved around the group of marauders that had suddenly appeared, and their fearsome leader, Zealot. "Why are you asking about this, suddenly? Did he threaten you, again?" he says, his brows furrowing. "I don't know," Caine says softly, his expression suddenly becoming a bit pained. "I hailed them on an SOS frequency, announcing that we'd found a little girl who I suspected was Force sensitive. I thought they might come take her away, and I suppose I'd fantasized that she might remember we'd adopted her and return to Mandalore one day, effectively becoming the next Tarre Vizsla." There's a thoughtful pause. "That didn't happen, of course..." "Need?" Thaarin says, a faint smirk growing on his features. "Who said anything about need? Perhaps I just -want- to talk to her. See what she has to say about -your- perspective." When Volken looks down at the datapad, he'll see that yes, the feed has been set up, and Caine and Cayde are just quietly chatting while Rykard meditates. Mondrian takes her hand silently and walks to the tram station alongside her, without saying anything. And she'll be quiet the whole ride back there, but she'll rest her head on Navi's shoulder the entire time. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde listens to the story, then frowns at the mention of a 'next Tarre Vizsla'. But he only brought strife. [Why you want that] he asks. [You want war] |
| Zetha Rumir | "No. No he hasn't been back. In fact I haven't seen or heard from him since the night he threatened me..." Zetha replies, watching him for a moment before she shakes her head. "I just have a sinking feeling that maybe I've seen him in some other way...not as the marauder...but another face he has." She doesn't relax, if anything, she pulls into herself a little more. "...I should go...it's been a long day and I think I just need to be alone right now..." She leaves it at that, keeping her arms wrapped around hself and turning to walk away. Not towards the junkyard. But away. Maybe to find a pile of rubble to sit on and just exist by herself for a bit. |
| Volken Mons | "Her 'perspective' is that she thinks she's right. It's not more complicated than that. What difference does it make to you? Who cares." Volken sounds mildly annoyed now as he lowers the datapad to look at Thaarin. "It's not some confusing situation. Do you even -know- -my- perspective? Well since you're apparently with the Republic Holonet.." Ha makes a dismissive gesture with the datapad. "While dealin' with a hostage situation the storm rolled in on us. I was wounded. I was tryin' to carry another wounded guy and follow the Inspector's lead into tunnels that would let us get to the hospital. The mud was comin' in. I coudln't guarentee making the climbg while also being shot and carryin' another body and tryin' to keep a civilian alive. All Ellari had to do was stay with us and follow the Inspector through the tunnels. Her help would have let us move faster and not risk the mudslide or the winds. The choice was simple. She decided, instead, to throw one of the wounded at me and then take off on her own. Apparently all she got for her troubles was gettin' shot down and in the process I gather that fight caused the tunnels the rest of us were tryin' to escape in to -collapse- -KILLING- he inspector whiel I was also tryin' to carry two bodies and push through collapsed stone." He looks away to look at the feed again. "So obviously I was angry with her and when I expressed this she basically said I was a fool for tryin' to help other people and then left. Maybe she's off planet now. I dunno. Don't care." |
| Navi | Navi lets Mondrian (F) rest her head on her shoulder all the way back to Aklyrr Bend. She also walks her back to her hab shelter and stays with her for as long as she wants. She also makes sure to leave Mondrian's pistol in a safe place inside the shelter, knowing Mondrian is responsible for the weapon, even if she doesn't want it right now. |
| Athena | "No, of course not," The baron replies. "You must have forgotten. The war only came after his death, when the Mandalorians stormed the Temple to take the Dark Saber back because they believed it rightfully belonged on Mandalore." A pause. "During his time, he was a famous Jedi Knight, who eventually also became the last Mand'alor to ever rule Mandalore. But of course, we Mandalorians learn very little about his time as a Jedi and are really only taught about his accomplishments as Mand'alor." "I'm sorry," Crane offers softly. "I love you," he reminds her, "and if you want to talk, I'm here." Thaarin barely seems to be listening to Volken. "Mmhmm," He says absently. "Well, that's a damn shame you weren't able to convince her to stay, she was a fine woman." He says, and then starts walking away, back towards the junkyard. "Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go check on Cayde. Rykard permits me, because I can't be affected by Cayde's abilities." |
| Athena | Mondrian doesn't say much to Navi during this whole time, but she lets the Sephi girl hold her hand and even tells her goodnight very softly and kindly before she leaves to go back to her own hab suite. |
| Cayde Alexis | Oh, Cayde remembers all right. It wasn't a matter of remembering, it seems, but more of -perspective-. [I know...so...brought strife yes] he reiterates, nodding. [..and war] |
| Volken Mons | Volken just blankly watches as he starts to walk away and still seems intersted in Ellari despite the story. "Glad to see you got your priorities together. Small wonder there's such faith in the republic's officers. You want me to set you up with some women in Canto Bight while we're at it? I got connections!" He then shakes his head and looks back at the feed once more. "Di'kut." |
| Athena | A few hours pass. During that time, nothing of any acute interest happens. Rykard and his padawan, Cayde, had sequestered themselves inside the cargo bay of that old vessel Thaarin and Zetha had been working on fixing up, the Mandalorian baron who'd caused a great headache to many locked inside with them. A cam droid is livestreaming their interactions, courtesy of Thaarin, who is lingering in the rusted cockpit nearby. It was supposed to be an interrogation of sorts, to find out if the Baron's claims about the Arkanians and their dangerous cloning infatuation were true. Rykard had commanded everyone except Thaarin to leave the premises, for reasons he hadn't made terribly clear, other than it regarded safety, and aligned with Cayde's own desire to make sure everyone stayed safe. They'd all acquiesced (though some reluctantly, aka, Volken), and gone somewhere outside of the junkyard to watch the feed on a datapad that Thaarin had provided. And yet, despite being sent away, the interrogation doesn't start immediately. In fact, Jorn (if he's watching the live feed) will probably either become intrigued by the events that unfold, or be terribly bored by them. Why, the padawan Alexis doesn't starting using his abilities right away, instead, he and the Baron talk about.. well, everything and nothing, while Rykard appears to meditate for ...hours. They discuss their hobbies, and then they take turns making shadow puppets on the wall. At some point, the Baron starts crying. Then, finally, after a few hours, they finally begin the interrogation. By then, Er'gi has returned. He seems a bit drunk, but less irritable and tired than before. He approaches Jorn. "So," he says to Jorn, "how did it go? Sorry I left before it got started. I was hungry and was hoping the cantina was still offering free drinks." Meanwhile, Zetha has probably sat and had alone time for those hours. She might be still be doing that when 'Crane' comes looking for her, bringing blue milk, a blanket, and those biscuits from Hap's that she likes so much. "Do you still want to be alone?" he calls out softly, keeping his distance for the moment. Back at Aklyrr Bend, Navi might have indulged in a well needed rest during that time, but after those few hours are up, Mondrian will come looking for her again. She'll hear a soft knock on the door of her habsuite. "You up? I ... I couldn't sleep. Plus, I heard they were sending another Jedi planetside, and whoever it is, is unexpectedly arriving several hours early. Maybe we should go greet them. I'd hate for the Grafs and the San Tekkas to be the only ones from leadership to go meet them." |
| Jorn | Jorn is in fact, terribly bored with the interrogation. There's nice Republic Guard and then there's...whatever the Kriff this is! As the interrogation goes on, and on, and on, he winds up saying, "Why don't you teach him how to paint a bunch of happy little trees while you're at it!" He groans, "You leave the person alone for hours, if not days, let their mind break them a little then you begin interrogating," Jorn just groans at the screen as it continues. "I expect nap time and tuck-ins to begin in twenty," and Jorn's voice is a terrible mix of bored and annoyed when replying to Er'gi. "Next time we let someone else do the interrogating..." he sighs heavily. "I think watching plasteel dry would have been more useful than this." He shakes his head with disapproval. "I understand you get more beasts with sweet paste, but this was entirely the wrong way to do it! We just let the beast eat the paste!" Trying to center himself, "I need a strong Caf after that one. Extra strong." Jorn just mutters. |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha looks over to him and for the first time in what might be a long time since everything has happened, the Twi'lek just looks -tired-. In a way one does when the weight of everything just falls on them and keeps them down. Still, she shakes her head. "No..." She answers gently. "And I think of anyone on this planet right now I really want your company right now. And..." She pauses, looks to him. "For what it's worth...I'm sorry. I'm just...tired." |
| Cayde Alexis | Indeed, the video feed was rather boring and frustrating to say the least. The camera angle makes it rather difficult to see what Cayde is signing at times, and only the baron's words can be heard. But eventually he does enter Caine's mind as promised, to discern the truth about the Arkanian scientists' treachery, with Master Rykard's blessing of course. Still, there is not much to see of telepathy on a video feed. |
| Navi | "Mondrian..?" Navi calls softly through her habsuite's door. "We'll go, sure. Just give me fifteen minutes to clean up... and can you bring me my jacket back, please? I don't think I'll need it, but just in case..." The blonde Sephi girl is as good as her word. Fifteen minutes and thirty seconds later, she joins Mondrian, clean and in fresh clothes (her usual dark gray work pants with suspenders and calf-length boots, off-white short-sleeved undershirt, and cross-body slung medic's satchel with her retractable staff, lightsaber, and Mondrian's (F) pistol strapped to it). "We can hit the tram whenever you're ready," she says warmly to the taller woman. "I brought your pistol, just in case you want it back now. I know the agency holds you responsible for keeping up with it." |
| Athena | "What?" Er'gi says, surprised. "Let me see that..!" He leans over Jorn's shoulder to look at the datapad. "Damn," he says, "looks like they really were giving us the short end of the strill fetching stick! I can't see a single thing the boy is saying." He then takes a seat next to Jorn. "Oh well, I guess I didn't miss anything, then..." Then after a moment he stands up. "We should probably intervene," he tells Jorn. "And show them how interrogation is -really- conducted! These aruetti are too soft, I tell you..." Crane seems flattered. His indigo eyes light up as he quickens his pace to come sit down next to Zetha. He hands her the blanket, then the blue milk and biscuits. "I thought you might be hungry," he says. Then he pauses. "It's alright. None of this is your fault. You did the best you could. I'm not angry or upset with you." He leans her on a little, affectionately. Cayde may or may not be surprised to find that it's all true. However, he doesn't really know where the Arkanians have disappeared to, he only has a vague idea, and thinks that the lab is key to figuring out where they might have gone. However, he's not sure what shape it's in right now. The monsoon that had plagued Tenoo earlier had done a number on the town, and who knew what it was like in the Gorge right now. Aklyrr had flooded, but not too badly, and by now all the water has drained ... into the Gorge. |
| Zetha Rumir | Its when she sees the biscuits that her stomach reminds her she hasn't eaten for some time. "You're thinking was correct..." And he brought her favorite snack which means he remembered something she likely wouldn't have thought much of until it happened. "Thank you." The blanket is adjusted a little - perhaps to cover them both and then she sets the biscuits in her lap, picking one up to take a small bite from. "Cayde is currently with Caine - which I suppose is Jasper's real name - doing that whole mind thing he can do I guess... I think Rykard's with them now as well. Thaarin also. To oversee it. I don't know what I was thinking running off with him. Caine I mean. Well no. That's not true. I thought the Mandalorians were going to haul him off world. That we were going to lose the chance to get to the lab. But all of that's finished now. What I did carved another opportunity I guess. Which means I can wash my hands of it. Finally." The explanation is very broken. The end explained without the beginning. She sips blue milk and takes another bite of biscuit. Then offers a biscuit to Crane. |
| Jorn | "No!" Jorn protests about that. He sighs, "It's not that I disagree with you. We should grab plasteel bindings and a blow torch. But we have to trust their...methods," and he is using that word -very- loosely right now. "We need to see their results before we teach them proper interrogation," he explains like there's a process. Because Jorn has full faith that the jedi are failing at interrogating. "I would be happy if they gave us something small. Something insignificant. The day will still be wasted, but at least they have the faintest of ideas about the assignment. That's all I want at this point," Jorn just complains to Er'gi. "Next time, Volken is going to interrogate them. I will throw whatever terrible commotion I have to...Volken will do the interrogating after today." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde sighs, withdrawing from the baron's mind once he has everything the man knows about the situation. No surprise about the lab, though. But it was still their best lead. However, it would take time to prepare for that journey. And for now, another Jedi was due to arrive here right about now. One Reza Orvenk. So he'd better see to that, right? Surely his master was planning on it as well. He gets up and nods to Caine. [Thank you] he signs, and then starts to leave the junkyard to head toward the port. |
| Volken Mons | Volken returns, coming up behind hte other Mandalorians. Looking over even Er'gi's shoulder as he looms overhead and glowers with an intensity that will probably crack the visor on his helmet any second now. It's probably a good thing he's wearin git. You don't want to see his face. The Big Scary Man prophecy is no doubt ocming true given recent events. He is less than satisfied upon not hearing with more clarity what's going on at the interrogation but after a moment of reflection he reminds himself that... Jedi Sorcery is at work. There's things they wont' be privvy to. When this is over with I'm gonna tie Cayde's Master and Thaarin together, throw 'em in a bag and use them as a Shock-Boxer dummy...." he growls. Nope, not the ideal time to push any of Volken of House Mon's buttons. "I think Ellari left." he says towards Jorn. "Just so ya know. So much for House Vizsla loyalty...." He then reaches for the datapad himself. "They're supposed to be gettin' in his head. We aint gonna hear everything. It's what they -don't- tell us I'm more worried about. We just need to know if Caine's lyin' or not..." |
| Reza Orvenk | Kublop Springs. Teeno. Reza's never been to either before. By the looks of it, though, a nice enough world. Lots of water. Green trees. Temperatures most humanoids would find very pleasant. Temperatures that a Dowutin would find a little warm, maybe a lot warm. Thankfully, Jedi robes breathe well. Standing well over most of the aliens in view, Reza Orvenk steps off her transport and...well, she can't really blend into crowds. At least she has no trouble finding her way, no bodies to block her view as she tries to compare what she sees against the maps she had the opportunity to review prior to landing. Orange skinned, sharp black eyes, sleeveless Jedi robes, utility belt complete with lightsaber, she's also decidedly conspicuous. The big question is whether or not those expecting her will be here already. Reza is, after all, a few hours early. The Dowutin woman slows a little as she looks around the spaceport. Grafs and the San Tekkas are evidently the ones meeting her here. The only question is if there's any sign of them? A slow smile crosses her lips as she considers if she needs to get someone's attention. |
| Athena | Crane gives her a faint smile when she makes sure that the blanket includes both of them. He listens patiently and intently when she starts rambling. "It's probably safer this way," he observes after listening to her. After she takes a bite of the biscuit and offers it to him, he takes it but doesn't eat it right away. "Are you feeling better now, at least?" "It would waste time," Er'gi tells Jorn, "sure, it would feel good showing them after they've failed, but--" He looks up Volken arrives. "Right," he says, when Volken mentions Cayde getting inside Caine's head, "so this charade shouldn't have lasted three hours!" And then there's Cayde, heading for the spaceport with Master Rykard in tow. "Look! They're finished..!" But he frowns as Cayde doesn't stop to tell them if he'd found out anything. "Volken," he says, scratching his head. "Did you tell the boy to let us know when he finished? They're... heading for the spaceport? What's going on?" Before any of them can actually comment, they'll see the Baron following the other two Jedi, though he'd lagged a bit. The look on his face is punchable. "I hope you found a way to entertain yourselves for three hours," he comments dryly, "wouldn't have wanted you to get bored. I, on the other hand, had a very nice time. I hope you meant for me to." Reza might be about to try to get someone's attention when she spots three people that are rather unmistakably, the Grafs and San Tekkas. They look ... almost grossly opulent for this little backwater town, and they're heading straight for her. The woman is wearing a flowing shimmersilk gown, an emerald green that compliments her eyes and tightly wound scarlet bun. A necklace that probably cost more that how many credits it would have taken to build this town adorns her neck. Trailing behind her is a similarly dressed young woman. She's holding her head erect, though it's obvious she's wearing a corset that -must- have pinched at least a couple nerves. An attache, it would seem. Behind the attache is a young man, dressed in a suit that must have come from Ghorman's finest. He doesn't look like he wants to be here. And yet. Here he is. The woman is smiling and waving Reza down. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde had heard Orvenk was Dowutin, so it's not difficult to pick her out in the crowd. She's taller than -everyone-, after all. Even Volken. And no, he doesn't stop to give Jorn or Volken any news about Caine. Instead, he just follows Rykard to the spaceport to join Mr. San Tekka and Ms. Graf in meeting Reza as she arrives. |
| Zetha Rumir | "Yes. I am." Zetha offers gently with a nod of her head before taking another sip of blue milk. "I think it is safer this way. Though I also imagine Soren is going to give me an earful while wanting an earful from me when I next see him. And Wiis is likely wondering where I went. Why I'm not home. I swear she treats me like I'm still some kriffing teenager..." Then Zetha finally smiles. It's not one that reaches her eyes but it almost gets there. "What about you? How have you been doing since recovering from the tunnel?" |
| Jorn | "Normally, I would agree. I would agree that this is a waste, but they will not know," and then Jorn heavily sighs. "And we are not giving their faintest of chances working. By some miracle of miracles, if their chlidish attempts at an interrogation actually work, we are not giving it a chance. We're rocks stuck in a hard place," Jorn says to Er'gi. The helmeted man's gaze, albeit covered, levels on Er' gi. "We shouldn't interfere." |
| Volken Mons | He's no stranger to Dowutin. They're incredible muscle. Fantastic soldiers, fighters, bouncers...pretty much all the things Volken has had to deal with during his career. He even once threw a Dowutin pit fighter through the cage and onto the crowd. They were all bad of course. So that makes that okay. A Dowutin Jedi? Tha'ts a new one to him, though he as he lifts his head to see her towering figure in the distnace...he supposes he shouldn't be surprised given the scope of that order. Still: "Hey." he rumbles as an aside towards Jorn and Er'gi. "We can take 'er. I'm bigger so Er'gi can sit on my shoulders and Jorn can sit on his and flail the Dark Saber around to assert dominance..." His tone is dry and deadpan. The humor a welcome distraction from the nonsense they've been afflicted with on this planet. When the entoruage interrogating Caine leaves the junkyard, Volken growls at Er'gi. His mood soured again already. "Of course I did. It's the only reason I agreed to staying out here..." Well, aside from Cayde's insistent pleading with him about the safety. Caine's arrival doesn't help. "So we'll take yer vacation onto our fees then. I don't wanna hear it from -you-.. I want to know from -them- if you're telling the truth. They shoulda had the sense to come right towards us and talk! I'm startin' to get why they were in the middle of a war!" He motions for Caine to take the lead to the port. |
| Navi | "A Dowutin Jedi Knight? I've got to admit, that's a combination I never thought I'd hear of," Navi observes as she walks with Mondrian toward the Kublop Springs spaceport, a destination she's gotten well acquainted with since arriving on-world over a year ago. "She should be pretty easy to spot." As she approaches, she only needs a moment to pick out the towering Jedi Knight, and another to spot Xera Graf, her flunky, and the San Tekka gentleman. She can't help swallowing hard at the sight of Xera in her red shimmersilk. The tall redhead always makes her feel small and grubby. "Good morning to you, Knight Orvenk," she calls, raising a hand and waving to the towering Dowutin. "And to you, Lady Graf, Lord San Tekka." She nods to the flunky, but doesn't speak to her. "I'm Navi, of the Shining Brotherhood. Also Co-Deputy Marshal of Aklyrr Bend. I must admit, I thought you'd be a little shorter," she continues warmly. |
| Reza Orvenk | Gross opulence isn't exclusive to Teeno, of course. It's not even exclusive to most of the Republic. Income disparities have existed for as long as the Republic has, and much longer judging by the various world histories Reza's read. Not everyone chooses to show off quite this spectacularly, though. Interesting sociological implications. Not a lot of organized crime on this planet? Or the organized crime is in the pocket of these people or people like them. Presumably the actual military and police are in their pocket, or they have an impressive amount of private security. No one wears that kind of money without the means to protect and keep it. Reza, for her part, keeps her observations to herself. For the Jedi, balance in all things. Her role isn't to raise a rebellion to overthrow these people, after all. No, there are other problems taking place on Teeno. Perhaps in Kublop Springs itself. One way or another, the answer should present itself shortly. The Force has a way of working these things out, after all. Allowing herself to be waved down, the Dowutin Jedi steps forward and plants herself in front of the greeting party. She dips her head into a formal nod of acknowledgement, her eyes shifting from one to another, a pleasant smile gracing those hard features of hers. There's no feeling of hostility or anxiety at her presence and there's no reason to impose any, given her long experience at how nervous someone her size can make people who aren't. If Volken is physically present, and as physically big as he presumably is, Reza's attention at least briefly slips to spotting him. Dowutin evidently don't have eyebrows but that doesn't stop her from raising one in cautious surprise. Not every day she sees a Mandalorian that big. ...Maybe no day, actually. Refocusing on the broader audience, the Jedi's smile brightens noticeably at Navi's friendly, polite greeting especially since there are words to go with it. "Yes, I am Reza Orvenk, Jedi Knight," she offers by way of greeting and formal introductions. Her voice is low, with a bit more vibrato than most humanoids, her enunciation slow and deliberate. "I thank you for your welcome, Deputy Marshal. This is a larger delegation than I'm used to seeing, outside of peace talks or diplomatic conferences." That smooth rumble sounds distinctly amused, especially when she adds "I can't promise anything about the height but I'll see what I can do to avoid putting dents in your roofs and ceilings." |
| Athena | His expression suddenly dims when he sees that the smile doesn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm worried about you, actually," he says to Zetha. "The Jedi are here, so physical safety isn't as much of a concern of mine," he says, "but..." he trails off and his eyes suddenly seem sad. "I always know when you're lying. You always say you're fine, but I know you well enough by now to know when you actually mean it, and when you don't." He pauses. "You can tell me anything, Zetha," he says, "love is a promise, isn't it? I'm not going to shy away from you just because you have to admit that all of this is wearing you down more than you'd like to admit." He traces her lekku gently. "You looked sad just now, even though you were trying to pretend like you weren't. And then you just wanted to make sure I was alright. It was a deflection of sorts, and I'll be fine, as long as you truly are, and are being truthful about it." "Then why don't we just enlighten them?!" Er'gi replies to Jorn. "Whatever they were doing, it must have not have worked -- " He sighs. When Volken jokes about taking on the Dowutin Jedi, he shakes his head. "This isn't making things better," he says, "we -have- to interfere," he says pointedly to Jorn. "We're not getting answers unless we do!" He gets up to follow Cayde to the spaceport. Caine rolls his eyes at Volken and does not lead the way to the port. Instead, he reaches over to grab Volken by the arm and pull him back. "Must you all be so selfish and -dense-? These so called -childish- tactics actually worked, anyone with even a mote of emotional intelligence would have figured out the process and understood it by now. Don't believe me? Well, you can ask him yourself, -later-. The Jedi clearly have business more important that your whining grudge with me over a political commotion that wasn't even my choice to cause." Mondrian (F) stays silent for the time being, just sticking close to Navi. She still seems exhausted from, well, everything. Xera's graze drifts to Navi momentarily, and for a split second, turns icy. But then she returns her attention to Reza. "Ah, yes. A pleasure to meet you. I am Lady Graf, and I oversee most of the operations regarding the colony, Aklyrr Bend." She offers a hand in greeting to Reza. "You must be the one the Council sent." |
| Jorn | "We don't -know- it failed," Jorn has no issues coming down in situations like this. However, the Jedi are strange. The Jedi are remarkable, too. He would not bet in the Jedi's favor. Oh, no. That ship left atmosphere long ago. But he knows not discount them completely. That's why he wants to see total failure, because then he can dismiss them. As people start to go, Jorn grabs a blaster and sets it to stun. "I'm not afraid to use this. We let the jedi succeed or fail. Period," and that's Jorn's only warning. At least he set it for stun this time. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde bows politely toward Reza, as is customary, although Graf's presence is causing some tension. What sort of actual overseeing had she done recently? Of course she hadn't been out helping anyone recover from the storm damage. Anyone with such sensibilities may be able to feel his discomfort about her. |
| Zetha Rumir | The ease and accuracy used by Crane to call Zetha out about how she's doing gets a grimace from her. "I can't hide it as much as I was able to before I guess..." She offers gently, then takes another biscuit to bite into and chew on while she gathers her thoughts. "It is. Wearing me down I mean. But it shouldn't right? I had been the one to push to let myself play Jasper's games. To do what he wanted because the end result was going to get us to the lab. But over time...I feel like I got myself in over my head. Which was, of course, precisely what I was warned about. And still I pushed..." She takes another drink of blue milk before studying the cup in her hand. "And in the end? We didn't get the end result. I'm not getting into the lab. Because instead I pretty much just delivered him to the Jedi and the Mandalorians. Now I'm letting them do their thing. In the junkyard, I might add....though I doubt they're still there. So now I feel like people are going to be several things. Upset, relieved, concerned...but mostly upset. Because we didn't get to the lab. And the lab was the end goal." |
| Volken Mons | "What're you going on about now. -You're- the one that came to -us- with word about -your- screw up with the Arkanian cloners. About clonin' an ancient Mandalorian taht was a Mandalorian Warlord -and- a Force user, who made the Dark Saber. About how that could ignite another war if they had some sort of mysterious plan with usin' him. THat was what YOU said. YOU implied that hte business was worth their attention because it threatend both Mandalore AND th'blasted REPUBLIC. So -now- they have more important business?" Volken doesn't even bother to sotp Er'gi or Jorn if they want to continue to the spaceport but he does turn towards Caine. "Your -brother- is in the madhouse. You've been draggin' us all across this planet lookin' for you. You've been cloned yourself. Don't talk to me about bein' childish, di'kut." He turns away and then adds, "Besides.. The occasional temper tantrum is good for ya. Gets the blood pumpin' and you take real good naps afterwards.." |
| Navi | "Thanks so much for being so considerate," Navi replies warmly to Reza. "We're glad to have you with us." She indicates Cayde as he arrives. "This is my Co-Deputy, Padawan Cayde Alexis. He doesn't speak, but he can hear just fine, knows Basic Sign, and has the ability to communicate telepathically. You won't have to worry about any communication breakdowns with him." She waves to Er'gi and Jorn as they approach before looking back to Reza, and then Xera. That icy look is noticed, and her blue eyes narrow slightly, but she says nothing. |
| Reza Orvenk | "I must be," Reza says, replying to Xera's remark about the Jedi being the one the Council sent. Light as her tone is, she accepts the offered hand and shakes it, gravely and carefully. "Lady Graf, thank you for taking the time to greet me personally. I have no doubt a colony like Aklyrr Bend is a project of considerable scope, with considerable operational difficulties. I'm not here to get in the way of any of that. Hopefully my presence here will remove challenges for you instead of adding to them." If Cayde's ambivalence towards Lady Graf is in any way noticed by the Dowutin Jedi, Reza is far too polite and composed to acknowledge it lest that notice draw attention to it. What feelings she can perceive are worth inquiring about later, in private. Thankfully, Navi introduces the Jedi near her. Cayde's muteness is a surprise but obviously not an intractable one in the Jedi Order. Given the opportunity to look directly at the Padawan, Reza nods again acknowledging him directly now. "Padawan Alexis. I look forward to your observations on this world. No doubt they will be most enlightening." Turning back to Navi, and to the Lady Graf, Reza says "An auspicious first meeting. I trust in the Force that this won't be the last. Now, where would you like me to begin?" |
| Athena | Something must've snapped in Er'gi. He suddenly turns around and starts barreling towards Jorn, arms wide open, fists clenched...! Maybe Jorn will have to stun someone today, after all. Xera ignores Cayde, and also Rykard, who has also arrived on the scene. Before Lady Graf can answer Reza, the other Jedi says, "Greetings, fellow Jedi. Welcome back to the Order," The elder Ikkrukki Master says warmly. "We're honored, and grateful that you're here. I am Master Rykard, Marshal of Aklyrr Bend. A pleasure to meet you, Knight Orvenk." He bows. Well, that didn't make a ton of sense, if Rykard was Marshal, shouldn't he have been the one overseeing most operations...? "No," Crane says, his brows furrowing. "Of course it should. You did what you thought was the right, and that's all that matters. If I were you I would have done the same thing. It didn't end very well, but what else were you supposed to do? Let some criminal threaten your family?" He hugs Zetha. "You didn't do anything wrong. And it's completely legitimate to feel like all of this is a horrible burden. It is a horrible burden. And it's better to let the Jedi handle these matters anyway. They're trained for it. They'll find a way into the lab. I'm sure of it." He sighs. "Maybe you should go see the doctor? I know you said he's going to give you an earful, but maybe you need what he has to say afterwards." "Oh please, di'kut. We're on Republic soil, near to a massive and ancient Jedi temple while at least three of them are present planetside, do you really think it's wise to question what business is important and what isn't? They just did a favor for you, free of charge, and you're not even going to thank them? Instead, you're going to demand what business is important to them? Show some self respect, you ungrateful or'dinii adike." Caine steps in front of Volken and draws a small dagger, pointing it straight at his chest. "Oh is that so? Then maybe you need to take some -medicine-." |
| Jorn | Jorn gives a wave to Navi because it would be rude to not. Also, everyone's all friends here, even if he has a blaster raised at Er'gi. Then something in Er'gi just snaps. While there is no outward reaction from Jorn, there is an internal sigh. He expected something like this. No words, no anything. Just two flashes of blue rings that eminate from his blaster. Sometimes he wishes this would be a red flash just because it would make everyone's life easier. After firing off the two shots, Jorn just steps to the side to let the change in momentum carry Er'gi to their final destination. Once Er'gi is down, Jorn will pull out some binder cuffs and begin to restrain Er'gi. "And here I thought we found common ground." Unless someone stops him, he'll keep going once Er'gi is secure. Afteward, he would even search the unscious man's person, unless stopped. |
| Navi | "You could come with us, of course," Navi suggests to Reza. "Besides assisting in the rebuilding of parts of Kublop Springs after a recent monster monsoon, we're dealing with a diplomatic issue that involves some Mandalorian visitors. We'd welcome any help." She's barely finished speaking when the sound of a blaster set to stun erupts from nearby, once, then again, almost on top of one another. Her lightsaber is in her hand in a flicker-flash of movement, the bluish-white blade extending with a sharp, shearing sound as she steps away from the welcoming party and toward Jorn, the blade lowered but ready. Getting a better look at the situation, she extinguishes the lightsaber, but keeps it in her hand. "Was that a difference of opinion or what, exactly?" she asks Jorn. "I'm assuming you weren't trying to kill him, since you were set to stun, but why did you shoot him?" |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha gives a nod to Crane after a moment. "You're right. I did what I had to do. And it is a horrible burden...but I -am- glad it's over now. At least...I think it's over now...." She says this in a way like she doesn't believe it. Not yet anyway. "And I do need to make an appointment with Soren but with everything lately it's been hard to actually get an appointment with him." She reaches to tear off a piece of the biscuit he's holding and pops it into her mouth. "I'll make sure to reach out to him and set up some time. I promise." Then she leans her head onto his shoulder, taking a deep breath before letting out slowly. "Thanks for finding me." |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde nods toward Reza, smiling politely and warmly as the Dowutin woman begins with pleasantries. He was about to sign something, when he feels Er'gi...snap. The roiling emotions are unmistakable. The padawan frowns, and turns quickly toward the altercation about to happen. Seeing as Jorn has already knocked Er'gi out, he instead turns his attention toward Caine, reaching out with the Force and attempting to fling his knife away and hold his arm with the aim of restraining him from attacking Volken. |
| Volken Mons | "Boy.." Is Caine older or younger than him? Boy seems like a good enough insult here. , I"ve saved Jedi's lives b'efore. Several times. Don't go talking to me about thankfulness and what business is important. " It's just then that he notices the knife at his chest. He was so irritated he hadn't even realized it was there. HIs arm raises and then lunges forward to grab for the arm holding the dagger. "Alright that does it. It's mulchin' time..." But another form of Mandlorian on Mandalorian violence is taking place. So just a regular day. It's hard to miss it when Er'gi starts moving like an out of control bantha. He may not be Volken behemoth but he's -still-a behemoth. One charging at Jorn no less. Once upon a time Volken probably would have just laughed. Now he's just mad. His deep voice booms as he reaches for Caine: "Why am I stuck babysitting you lot!" It's enough to think Ellari may have had some sense after all by bouncing off planet. |
| Athena | Jorn's shot causes Er'gi to faceplant into the ground. It shakes (a little). He'll be lying still while Jorn starts to cuff him, but then all of a sudden, his head comes up briefly, in an attempt to headbutt Jorn. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the other massive Mandalorian will go limp once more, his helmet making a clonking sound as it hits the hard, tiled ground of the spaceport. "It is," Crane says, kissing the top of her head gently. "It's over." "Something tells me that if you just dropped in at the hospital, he'd make time for you," he says, "maybe you could just go now? When has he ever denied you time, when you asked for it?" "Oh really?" Caine says derisively, "you must be talking about the padawan, Cayde. I'm sorry, but I can't help but not be inclined to believe you, he doesn't seem terribly fond of you." Cayde's attempt to fling the knife aren't that successful. Or, are they? Because Volken reaches for Caine and grabs him not even a second later, causing him to drop the knife. But Volken will soon see that the knife was a distraction, Caine had also drawn his pistol while Volken's eyes had been on the knife. He fires, point blank, right into Volken's beskar helmet. |
| Zetha Rumir | "Sometimes I catch him at the wrong time. And while, sure, he'd give me the space...I don't want him to feel rushed." Zetha offers. "I can't let what needs to be said and discussed be rushed because he has elsewhere to be." Then she smiles, this one reaches -just- shy of those violet eyes. "Besides...this is where I want to be right now. I'll message him." In fact, Zetha does just that right then. Pulling out her commlink to shoot the doctor a message. <<Hey Soren. When you have some time. Really have time. Let me know. I'd like to talk about some recent events. Thanks. ~Z>> Then she sets it aside. "There. Now. Please tell me how you're really doing. I mean, you almost died. I can't imagine that healing process was quick..." |
| Volken Mons | "Nope. Wasn't just talkin' about him. Though thanks for reminding me." The brawl between his two allies is of more concern at the moment where Volken is concerned. Confusion wracks him at why the two are fighting. Granted Er'gi was never particularly -fond- of Jorn and their situation but he never expressed a desire to outright attack the other Mandalorian. Especially not out in public like this infront of everywhere. Granted, all good fights should be public affairs. It helps spread the love. He shows this love by reaching for Cain'e's neck just as the shot goes off. It pings violently off the side ofh is beskar helmet, tilting his head slightly tot he side but otherwise not slowing him down. "We already did this dance at Thaelin's wedding, hut'unn. Did you forget?" His massive hand attempt tocurl around Caine's neck to get under the helmet with his fingers and grip the flesh beneath while batting away the blaster with his other hand. "I was only mildly anoyed then. Now? Kalden..." IF he manages to get Caine upwards he'll begin literally carrying him by the neck towards where Jorn and Er'gi are. |
| Navi | Navi winces as another blaster shot rings out. "Never a dull moment..." she grumbles, watching Volken slap the Baron's pistol away. "Just who the frell allowed that idiot access to weapons? It's common knowledge that he can't be trusted." She looks to Cayde and his Master. "I think you're going to need to catch me up on what happened while I was away," she says. "Last time I saw that guy, he was in binders and unarmed." She approaches Volken, glaring at the Baron. "Knock off the shenanigans, pal. Right karking /now/," she snaps at the man squirming in Volken's grasp. "Under normal circumstances, I'd cuff your sorry butt and drag you back to Aklyrr Bend to rot in the lock-up. But right now, I'm inclined to just let Volk have you." She glances to Volk with a tiny, impish smile. "I'm assuming you've got this guy in hand?" she quips. |
| Cayde Alexis | When things begin to escalate and Volken picks Caine up by the neck, the padawan resists the urge to enter the large Mandalorian's mind again and instead just tries to focus on the hand gripping the baron's neck, attempting to ensure he doesn't actually crush the other man's airways or break his bones. The large Mandalorian will feel the resistance, though it will be his choice to relent to it or not. |
| Athena | Crane laughs sofly, stroking her lekku. "Zetha, my love, you know that's always entirely his choice whether he gives you time or not. It's all a matter of priority. If he thinks you're the most important person in that moment, then you don't need to be afraid of taking up space, and attention. If he doesn't, well, then I'm sure there's good reason for you not to be in that moment." His expression softens when she says that this is where she wants to be right now. He seems flattered. "I mean, it wasn't that long, thanks to Navi. I was in the hospital for a few days, and thought about you a lot. And then they released me, and I immediately started helping out around town. It helped, to do something other than think about what had just happened to me." Surprisingly, Zetha's comm buzzes a few minutes later. <I'm free now, actually. Staying in one of the guest suites at the hospital. You can come this evening anytime like you> the doctor replies. Caine doesn't reply. Obviously, his throat is being nearly closed off by the other Mandalorian's fist. But then suddenly his jetpack thrusters engage, and they're headed straight for a nearby building. He'll try to flip midair, and rake Volken against the roof shingles and whatever else happens to be situated on top of the building (A cooling unit, and some sort of comm console). Mondrian (F) rolls her eyes at Navi. "You don't need to take sides, they're all just kriffing trouble and I'm tired of it. We met the new Jedi, and now that Rykard and Cayde are here, they should be the ones to deal with it. C'mon, let's just go back to Aklyrr. It's too late to be dealing with these Mandalorian idiots right now." |
| Zetha Rumir | Zetha checks her comms when the message comes through, though she speaks one thing before another. "I am glad they were able to help you heal. And that you got back into the swing of doing things. Just please...don't over do it. I'd rather not have a moment of fearing I lost you anytime soon again." Then, she furrows her brows and sighs. "Soren can see me now. Or Isuppose any time this evening....but...maybe it is best I go talk to him." Before giving a blush. "Can we meet somewhere later? I'll send you a text when I'm done?" |
| Navi | "I guess that's a 'no'," Navi observes, watching Caine take off like a rocket, taking Volken with him. Right here and now, it's really, really hard for her to think that Mondrian (F) is wrong. But she is, and that's where the trouble lies. "Go ahead. I'll catch up in a bit," Navi calls to Mondrian (F). "I still need to get some information from Master Rykard. Shouldn't take long." "Do you have a moment to catch me up, Master?" she asks Rykard. "With yourself and Cayde in Kublop Springs as well as both Graf and San Tekka reps, someone really should be in Aklyrr Bend to keep an eye on things. I'll head that way just as soon as I know what I missed." Which she firmly has in mind to do. |
| Volken Mons | 'Stop interfering! Whoeever you are! Constant interfernce has been part of--" Volken has no time to even finish his thought or even addresss Navi herself as he tries to draw near to Jorn and Er'gi. Instead - he's launched into the air and sent spiraling this way and that. To be fair, this was -quite- the dangerous manuever on Caine's part. Volken isn't exactly 'human'. His mass of muscle well exceeds a quarter ton of weight. Approaches half. He's even possibly getting bigger. So a jetpack yanking him upwards with him holding onto your neck means that weight has to go somewhere. Fortunantely Caine is 'a professional' and a risk taker and he manages to spiral the movement in a way that flips the gigantic Mando about so he's not forced to hold onto Caine's neck with his full weight. Then the two have crashed, before gravity can set in to fully try and pull the baron back down. by the neck. The impact, however, he doesn't fully weather. Not like usual. There's a bestial grunt from the behemoth as he crashes through the cooling unit and comm systems and then through the roof itself. He finally releases Caine and takes a moment to gather his wits about him. |
| Cayde Alexis | Cayde's eyes widen as Caine rockets off with Volken holding onto his neck. Did he have a death wish? Anyway, the padawan reaches out with the Force again, attempting to keep them both from getting themselves killed in one way or another. |
| Athena | They crash, indeed. Volken and Caine skip like stones across water until there's no more roof, and then plummet twenty meters to the ground. A plume of purple grey smoke rises up, and somehow, the two Mandalorians aren't fatally injured or dead. Cayde's usage of the Force must have cushioned their fall, slightly. The Baron shakily gets to his feet, stumbling slightly, and doing the same as Volken, trying to gather his wits. Then, he draws his sword. By now, Rykard has approached the scene. "That's enough!" he bellows at the two of them. He glances over at Cayde, frowning. <You know what they're fighting over! Now, go. I don't want to raise a hand against them> |
| Volken Mons | Just a mild concussion. DIsorientation. No big deal. Volken's stepped on mines before and just walkd it off... But he's pretty banged up from slamming into the equipment and then that insane fall. Telekinesis helped to be sure but he's looking pretty battered - possibly due to him having only barely recovered from the events of the storm. "He lifts one of his immense arms, his bracers charging up as a flamethrower emerges. "Alright you chakaaryc - you wanna fight?! Let'---" But then Rykard is there and the colossal man staggers to his feet. "Dont' come orderin' us around! If you hadn't of just turned him loose and walked right past us instead of keeping yoru word...he wouldn't be in a position to attack us! You konw, all of the past wars happening with you folk is makin' more and more -sense-..." He doesn't back down but neither does he press the attack on Caine. It seems they're at a stand off. |
| Cayde Alexis | Actually Cayde isn't completely certain what they are fighting over. But maybe if he tells them the result of the 'interrogation', they'll stop. As Caine draws his blade, he quickly inserts himself between the two of them but turns to face Volken, waving a hand to make sure he gets the big Mando's attention before relaying the news. [He does not lie] he signs quicky. [Plans spoiled...] |
| Athena | When Cayde inserts himself between him and Volken, The Baron pauses, and then puts away his sword. He seems satisfied with this chain of events, despite having nearly gotten himself battered into a pulp. He turns to leave, limping, his beskar dented and scratched in varying places. |
