Corellia is home to the Corellian Engineering Corporation, a popular shipbuilder that produces fast, customizable ships. Corellia has also achieved a measure of infamy for the wanderlust of its natives. Many have gone on to become heroes or outlaws, and sometimes both.
The planet is located in the Corellian sector in the Core Worlds. Its climate is temperate, and its terrain consists mostly of jungles and urban centers. Its capital city is Coronet City, home to many shipyards used to build all sorts of spacecraft used throughout the galaxy. Many explorers intent upon mapping new hyperspace routes and assisting in colonization efforts on behalf of the Republic hail from Corellia.
History
The invention of hyperspace cannons around 25,000 BBY helped connect Corellia with nearby planets Coruscant and Duros, leading to its membership among the Core Founders of the Republic. Ever since then, Corellia has continued to be considered among the most important Republic homeworlds.
Geography
A terrestrial world with a diameter of 11,000 kilometers, Corellia has a breathable atmosphere, a temperate climate, standard gravity, and a moderate hydrosphere. Corellian weather is characterized by warm, sunny days separated by long, severe rainstorms. Like every other planet in the Corellian system, Corellia has a planetary repulsor. The surface of Corellia is composed of rolling hills, dense forests, lush fields, vast seas, beaches, mountain peaks and crystal swamps, as well as an eastern ocean and a western ocean. Corellia urban terrain is also highly developed, and it is considered an industrial world.
Three large continents can be found on the surface of Corellia; the planet's capital of Coronet is located on the coast of the southernmost and most populated continent, near the eastern ocean. Outside of such cities, the landscape hosts small towns and rural communities. Corellia exports alcohol, starships, agricultural goods, imported luxury items, raw materials and weapons. The shipyards of the Corellian Engineering Corporation are located in orbit around Corellia, and facilities fitted with warship docks are planetside.
