| Synopsis: | Navi and Volken rescue some slaves. |
| Cast of Characters: | 1, Zetha Rumir, Navi, Volken Mons |
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Today there has been another new arrival in Kublop Springs. It appears to be some sort of luxury cruiser full of very wealthy sorts of unknown origins.
As they disembark, they seem nice--too nice. Too smooth. There is a particular group, clothed very elegantly like the rest, with a couple of 'employees' carrying their luggage toward the lodge for them, who look suspiciously like slaves. They're both human women, one blonde and the other dark-haired. Although they aren't dressed shabbily, exactly, their attire is well...it may remind those familiar with the underworld of those female slaves the Hutts and other powerful syndicates loved to parade around in revealing clothing...
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
Zetha has briefly returned from her time at the colony and has specifically gone to Hap's for a couple of biscuits. She's just coming out of the place when she spots that cruiser and the people who disembark from it. She shifts to a bench to sit and enjoy her snack, but she's keeping an eye on the ones heading into that lodge. They must be here for some sort of business cause no one in their right minds comes to Tenoo for a vacation.
- Navi has posed:
Navi feels herself blushing just a bit every time she looks at the two apparent slave girls. Especially the blonde. "I could undress right here and now and still be wearing more than those poor girls," she murmurs.
She had come to Kublop Springs to resupply on a few office necessities, and had chanced to be near the spaceport when the luxury cruiser had landed. Her instincts tagged the two girls as slaves instantly, but she isn't going to assume she's right. Not yet, anyway. For all she knows, they're simply from a culture that celebrates bare skin!
But that doesn't mean her conscience is leaving her alone about it as she chances to find herself near Zetha. "Do those two humans look like slaves to you?" she asks softly.
- Volken Mons has posed:
Comings and goings at the spaceport are of little interest to Volken. Of more pressing matters to him was the disaster at the colony, the fact that both Caine -and- Kassady are now missing and that, apparently, Caine's mind is only a handful of days old or something?
But without many leads there's not much they can do about it at the moment...save for -watching- the spaceport to make sure that neither of the twins is attempting to make a break for it. Not knowing where they are means there is great risk for all of Mandalore learning of the going ons here. So his massive body occupies a bench, arms sprawled across it as he looks and just waits. The other Mandalorians are nowhere to be seen, likely tired of the giant mans bad mood. He's perceptive and little escapes his notice but if' it's not two Mandalorian's skulking around or a cadre of Marauders then Volken barely pays them much mind. He grants the slaves only a cursory glance from a distance before he turns and takes note of Zetha and then Navi near another bench. He watches her for a few seconds and then finally opts to move, pushing up to his full height and beginning to approach her with heavy footfalls.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
The group they are watching actually starts to approach, led by a man probably about the same age as Volken but not the same size. As they come closer, it may be noted that the suspected slaves are not actually quite so young to be considered girls. One of them in fact looks rather aged, although not 'old'. Although she is certainly wearing a lot of makeup, it's still quite apparent that she's extremely exhausted. But there is something else. An odd familiarity to her, that can't quite be pinpointed yet.
The leader turns to the rest of the group before addressing them however, saying something inaudible before they turn to leave, likely to take the luggage to the hotel. Then he approaches Navi in particular. "Greetings, you must be Ms. Valrennan, deupty of Aklyrr Bend. I'm Nash Bellara. I have heard some...rumors that there are marauders hiding somewhere near the new Republic colony, and was wondering if you might be able to confirm or deny them?"
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
Zetha glances to Navi while mid-bite into one of her biscuits. She takes a moment to chew thoughtfully before giving a shrug of her shoulders. "I wouldn't know what a slave is supposed to look like if it's any different from someone else." She says in a soft reply before her periphreal sight catches Tower Mandalorian approaching them. As well as the leader of the group that just arrived. She sinks down into her bench a little, taking another bite of her biscuit. No one is going to look familiar to her since she doesn't know a lot of people from off world.
- Navi has posed:
"Some Hutts and other slaveholders prefer their prettier female slaves as close to bare as possible," Navi explains softly to Zetha. "It's kind of a giveaway when you see women doing porter droid jobs dressed like beachgoers or exotic dancers." She watches the two slaves thoughtfully. Why does the older 'slave' woman look familiar..?
Two other approach her almost at the same time then, and she briefly divides her attention between. "Good morning, Volken," she says softly, with a hint of affection. "I'd thought we were on the verge of an eclipse, until I realized it was just you stopping by. How are you?"
"I am, Mr. Nash. Welcome to Tenoo. Officially, we know /someone/ is camping out down there. Unofficially, exercise all due care around that area or, better, avoid it entirely," she says. "What brings you here? I wasn't aware Tenoo was on any of the port of call lists for any of the luxury cruise lines."
- Volken Mons has posed:
Volken has opted to go 'helm on' at the moment so his expression can't be seen in return as he looks down to Navi at her greeting. His body language seems to relax, however. That much is easy to read. Probably because he's as wide as two or three people so every stace shift can pretty much be an open book unless he's deliberately attempting to be cagey. "Hello." he responds in return. HIs deep voice lacking any overt inflection but also having a hint of amusement there. He seems pleased to see her.
As Zetha sinks further into the bench he just glances her way, indicated by a slight turn of his helmet to look in her direction. "How's yer mother..." he rumbles, voice low.
But then the new arrivals are there and Volken looks in their direction and just listens as they speak and later as Navi answers.
"....Are you lookin' to hire Marauders?" he asks bluntly.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Navi's connection to the Force will reveal that the older blonde woman is also a Force sensitive, and seems to be aware of her presence. As she is walking away, she locks her gaze with the Sephi for a moment. Her eyes are...tired, grieved. But she quickly turns away and starts heading toward the hotel.
"Less luxury, more business." Nash replies to Navi. What sort of business, he does not elaborate upon. "Ah, yes thank you--" And then Volken just...says -that-. Nash splutters a bit, not having expected such...forwardness. "I--hire? What makes you say that? No, we were just...um, -concerned- they might interrupt important business." Back to Navi. "Do you by chance know where I might find more detailed information about their location and presence?"
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
There's a glance up and over to Volken as Zetha is asked about her mother. She hesitates for a moment before giving a simple, "She's well." as an answer. Then, without thinking, she asks him her own question. "How did the jewelry making go?" Because, she had heard that's what the cortosis was used for and then she got threatened and told the cortosis was actually somewhere else. Navi is conducting, suddenly, official deputy business so she won't interfere with that. She'd like to never hear the word 'marauder' again as far as she's concerned.
- Navi has posed:
"That I don't know, Mr. Nash. That's dangerous country, with poor access, and we just don't have the resources to patrol it," Navi replies to Nash thoughtfully. "Though it's not impossible that Mr. Volken Mons here may have some information that may be of help to you."
"Though you may be able to help /me/... or, more accurately, the Republic. That blonde porter in your company, the one such immodest attire... who is she?" she asks softly.
"Sorry," she whispers to Vons, regarding her palming Nash's marauder interests off on him. Zetha likewise gets a worried look as she goes quiet, and asks about /that/...
- Volken Mons has posed:
Volken just sort of...looks at the man which, again given his helmet hiding his expression and that he's more then eight feet and nearly seven hundred pounds of muscle ... probably isn't exactly a comfortable staring contest for the unfortunante new arrival.
Luckily for him, Zetha distracts him briefly and the giant Mandalorian levels his attention down towards her. Somehow one gets the impression that his stoney gaze softens abit despite his eyes not being visible and he seems momentarily perplexed.
"Jewelry....?"
He then finally seems to get it and he laughs softly and looks away from her. "Not well. The marauders have it now. We were approached by one of them and used it to bargain for information about the location of our missing fugitive - only to find out he guy we bargained with was working for the guy we were after. So we're going to need to...get a 'refund' from that di'kut informant..."
He pauses, his boiling anger visible for no other reason then the reddening of his skin as his blood pressure rises and his vast arms tense.
"...After that... 'jewelry' making - if you can call our armor jewelry, yeah.."
It's then that he hears Navi and Volken's attention returns towards her and the man. He grows quiet once more and turns his body towards the man, waiting.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
"Oh, she's nobody." Nash says dismissively. "Just an assistant. Don't worry about her." He seems...very keen to be moving onward from that topic.
Instead, his attention is now more focused on Volken. "Oh, is that so?" he asks, listening to the story about this informant and the marauders. "I don't suppose you might know where they are?"
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
"Oh I...I wasn't trying to call your armor jewelry...I thought I heard the cortosis was going to be used for a..a wedding...gift..I.." Then Zetha just hushes and if she can sink further down into her bench, she does. And she eats the rest of her first bincuit. The information Volken just told her will be beneficial in a lot of ways - but not in any way that may help her. She won't bring it up again. And what she /really/ wants right now is to run to the train station and catch the first one back to the colony. In fact, if this conversation continues to be about the marauders. Zetha knows things. She's been down there. She's seen them. Been threatened by them. So she stands and starts to walk away.
She might actually walk towards the lodge - while Nash is distracted - to strike up a conversation with that blonde woman.
- Navi has posed:
"I see. She reminded me of someone. A passing fancy, maybe," Navi replies, shrugging. As Nash turns his attention to Volken, the blonde Sephi takes a step or two to the right, out of Nash's peripheral vision, idly wondering about the records, customs records, and passports of Nash and his party. As Zetha slips away, Navi watches her for the moment. Nash's attention on herself is too fresh for her to risk slipping away yet, but she's turning it over in her mind...
- Volken Mons has posed:
"It's alright." says Volken, perhaps hurriedly to the apparently nervous Zetha. "You're not wrong. It -is- for a wedding gift but the gift is the -armor-...."
He frowns now, idly watching as Zetha seems to grow increasingly agitated but 'Nash' has his attention once more.
Volken sighs softly, clearly irritated now but...well..he's in it so might as well win it.
"If you want an escort to the colony to draw out the Marauders, offer me a fair price and I'll take you there. If you're looking for a -specific- Marauder you'll need to give more details but I have to warn you, they're already working with someone else who might be paying them very well so you're going to have to stop being cagey and say exactly what you want if you expect to get any substantial help from me..."
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
"Hmmmm," Nash considers Volken's words. "Fair enough. I will take this back to my superiors and discuss the matter further. Would you be so kind as to provide contact details, so that we might follow up with you once a decision has been made?" he asks.
It would seem that Mr. Bellara is quite occupied with his conversation, so now is as good a time as any for Navi to slip away toward the hotel.
As Zetha is doing the same, she'll notice the woman carrying two cases full of luggage into the hotel, following behind the rest of the group she's with as they approach the check-in area.
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
It's not really agitation as much as it is a compressed amount of fear and worry. But that's pushed aside as Zetha approaches the woman who's at the tail end of taking things into the hotel. "One would almost think you're all moving in for an extended time..." She remarks and then glances back once more before forward. "Can I help with anything? I may not look it but I'm fairly strong and it seems like you could use a break." Simple. Casual. Though it might also be brushed aside, but the young Twi'lek knows no better in the moment.
- Navi has posed:
Since Mr. Bellara seems well and truly distracted, Navi takes the opportunity to slip away, quietly typing a request to the Port Authority for information regarding a Mr. Nash Bellara and his party. Specifically passport and customs reports. Slavery is still illegal in Republic space, and she's pretty interested in knowing if Bellara's help is hired or bought outright.
She quietly approaches Zetha and the blonde woman, slowing a bit to let them talk without interfering with their conversation. It may prove interesting.
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Volken Mons." remarks the goliath. He produces a simple wedge shaped chip with his comm information and additional contact information it and rougly places it into Nash' hand if he accepts it.
"You should be able to find me easy enough if you're using your eyes."
He doesn't really expect too much to come of this but as of right now especially given he's still working with limited information on what the Marauders have been up to but...Nash' interest in a start at least.
He quietly glances over towards where Zetha and the 'servants' are but then looks back towards Nash. "Anythin' you can just tell me now?"
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
The woman sighs, hesitating a moment as she glances at the front of her group, who are currently busy handling check-in business. Then she smiles weakly and offers her one of the cases to hold. "Oh, thank you. You didn't have to though." she says softly, her voice barely above a whisper. She's very pale, as if ill.
Navi's request for the port authority records reveal that according to the manifest, they are employees. However, there is a suspicious lack of other records, such as what sort of business they are here for, exactly.
Nash takes the contact info. "Thank you." he shrugs at the question. "We have...business with them." is all he has to offer. "More details will be divulged, should you enter into a contract with us. But until then, it's need-to-know basis." With that, he turns to leave.
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
"Consider it a welcome to the planet thing..or something.." Zetha offers as she takes the case that's offered to her. "My names Zetha." She offers then, with a smile and a genuine curiosity. Like maybe this woman will offer her name in return or something. "Your boss always travel with this much stuff?" Because it seems to be a lot. Like a lot a lot. Like she was serious when she made that comment about them moving in.
- Navi has posed:
Navi scowls faintly, saving the report for later and looking up as the woman acknowledges Zetha and seems grateful for her offer of help. Force bless that sweet Twi'lek girl's heart.
"May I help, too?" she asks the blonde woman, with a small but warm smile. "I couldn't help but notice you're dealing with a lot of luggage."
<< Hello, Ma'am. Please don't be alarmed. My name is Navi, and I noticed you noticing me a moment ago. It's nice to meet you. >>
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
"Bia," the woman says in return. "It's nice to meet you, Zetha." she shrugs at the question. "I'm not sure, I haven't been with them long. Do you live here?" she asks. Now that she's speaking with the woman, Zetha will also find something familiar about the woman herself.
She looks to Navi when she approaches, appearing a bit surprised. "Oh, Deputy Valrennan...I...I couldn't." However, she doesn't seem surprised or disconcerted by the telepathic communication, as many others might be. "It's... it's nice to meet you, too. I'm Bia. Is--is there something I can help you with?" she asks.
The check-ins seem to be finished now, so she starts to carry the luggage toward the elevator.
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Yeah well I probably 'needed to know' so I don't kill any of 'em between then and now. So oh well, I guess. Well anyway." drawls Volken out before turning slowly as if the matter is done for now with him as well. Let Nash do what he will with that threat.
He turns and claims the bench that Zetha had abandoned and just lowers his vast bulk down onto it, now watching the events happening at the hotel...
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
"All my life. I work in the local junkyard. It's nice to meet you also." Zetha continues, keeping the conversation casual enough. When Navi arrives. Zetha smiles at her friend and then looks to Bia once more. A familiarity that she can't quite put anywhere. "Oh? How long have you been with them if you don't mind me asking? And where did you come from? I've...never been off Tenoo so I love to hear about other places in the galaxy." Which is true.
When the people seem to be heading for the elevator with all the luggage, Zetha follows. She is, after all, carrying one of the cases.
- Navi has posed:
"I guess I'm more famous than I ever imagined," Navi observes, her tone gently wry. "That's two people I've never met, both from offworld, in one day who knew exactly who I was. Maybe I can help your coworker, then? I like meeting people who work for a living. They remind me of why I'm doing this job." She moves to ask to assist the dark-haired woman in revealing dancewear. "Good morning, Ma'am. Mind if I help you with that. It looks heavy."
<< Blame me for being nosy, but you remind me of someone I know. I'm not sure who. >>
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Bia enters the elevator, although the rest of her group doesn't follow, at least not right away. "A couple of months." she replies to Zetha. Then to Navi, "You seem like a strong leader, especially for someone so young." she says softly, her eyes still sad. The other woman smiles and thanks Navi, allowing her to also carry one of the luggage cases. A brow goes up when Navi mentions being reminded of someone she knows. "Oh, is that so?" But then she suddenly coughs and stumbles, leaning on the wall of the elevator. And then it will become clear to them...she very much reminds them of Cayde. Her looks, and for Navi, her mental presence.
The elevator opens out into a hallway and she goes to one of the rooms, opening it and depositing the luggage on a storage rack. Then she goes to sit down on one of the beds, looking quite exhausted.
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
"Hey. Are you alright?" Zetha asks as the woman leans on the wall of the elevator. Then there's entering the room and Bia sits on the bed. "If you're feeling unwell maybe we can arrange to have you checked out at the local hospital. It's none too far away. You shouldn't work so hard if you're sick." This much more is said, but that sudden feeling of being reminded of Cayde has her wanting to ask a hundred more questions. She doesn't. That would be intrusive. So she keeps it at going to the hospital. "Or, we could likely have someone come by and check you out...I'm sure they wouldn't mind either way. We know a few of the nurses there and at least one doctor."
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
As Volken is sitting on the bench outside, he might notice some of the other 'employees' being pushed around and shouted at. Given the conversation with Nash, he may already suspect these people aren't just rich bureaucrats on vacation, but likely criminals of some kind. He'll notice them herding their 'assistants' roughly into the hotel.
- Navi has posed:
Navi blushes at that. "I'm not a leader, Ma'am... nothing like," she replies softly, both flattered and embarrassed by such high praise. As Bia stumbles, she joins Zetha in moving to assist her. "Are you feeling all right? You look exhausted," she asks, instantly concerned. "Zetha is right. I think your employer may be working you too hard, especially if you're already ill."
<< Maybe it's just a passing fancy. Does this young man seem familiar to you? >> she asks, sending along a mental image of Cayde.
- Volken Mons has posed:
He had already suspected as much. Whether or not it was his problem was another matter all together. They could be with the Hutts or another enterrising group all together. Their interest in the Marauders was suspect. Could be a brewing gang war. He mentioned that they were already employed so the chances of them being here to hire them is not necessarily absolute - but not off the cards if they intended to outbid their current client, Caine.
But still. Not his business if it didn't directly involve the Dark Saber...
But as the rough treatment continues, the big man narrows his eyes and then glances towards the hotel where Navi and Zetha certainly are. After a moment he just...sighs in irritation and slowly pushes up to his feet to begin walking for the building with heavy steps and a long stride that will ultimately bring him towards the lobby.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Bia nods. "Yes, I'm just fine--I just...just tired." But they will both sense it's far more than that. "No, no it's fine...I...I don't have any money." she says when doctors are mentioned. "My employer won't pay for treatment. I'm alive, it's--"
And then Navi shows her the imagery, and her eyes become wistful. "...Cayde?"
Downstairs in the lobby, Volken will find Nash looking grumpy. "Where's Bia? Stupid girl is supposed to be back down here already."
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
Zetha was going to say something more but when she hears that familiar name slip past Bia's lips she turns her gaze to meet Navi's own. They both have blonde hair, and they look similar in build so she gets an idea. "Well then your employer can kriff off. Navi, give your shirt to Bia. We'll go back downstairs and bank on the amount of people in that lobby will cause them to miss us three walking out. But, on the off chance, they may mistake you for Bia if you're...more dressed like her. I'll finish getting her to the hospital if that happens." She then looks to Bia. "Payment won't be an issue. I promise. Our first task is to get you looked into...second task...will be to reach out to Cayde and have him meet us at the hospital." Then she considers something. "And maybe hire security so Nash won't barge in unannounced."
- Volken Mons has posed:
A quick visual glance reveals the lack of Navi and Zetha and with this 'Bia' missing and the timing involved, it's not hard to guess what may be goign on.
Volken remains neutral, at least outwardly though. He hangs in the back, just watching and listening for the moment.
- Navi has posed:
"I like the way you think, Zetha," Navi replies softly. "Bia, take off your outfit and give it to me. You take my clothes," she continues, already shrugging off her jacket and sliding the suspenders of her pants off of her shoulders. "This would work even better if you had a mask or something... I won't pass for you if someone gets a good look at my face. But we'll make do with what we have."
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Bia seems to be lost in thought for a moment, which reminds them of Cayde even more. "You...you know him? Cayde? Is he...is he here?"
But then frowns, hesitating. "Wait...what are you--no, it's too dangerous. Trust me..." she stares at the floor. "I'm not worth it. And I have to go. Nash is expecting me..." She looks toward the door, but then lowers her voice. "Come back tonight." She then hurries out of the room and goes back down the lobby, where Nash glares at her. "What took you so long?" he snaps. Volken may also notice the resemblance between her and Cayde. He might also notice there is a lot more of this abusive behavior going on among the rich newcomers to Kublop, but for some reason, the hotel staff and other bystanders seem afraid to do anything about it...
- Zetha Rumir has posed:
Zetha isn't even able to answer the question about Cayde before Bia is rushing out of the room. "I'll message Doctor Cassias. He's still at the colony but this will definitely be something he'll be interested in..." She says to Navi. Then she sort of frowns but tries to smile through it. "We'll want to likely let Cayde know...something...but I may leave that to you. Anyway. I'm going to go back downstairs and visit the convent. See if 'Crane' is around maybe." She smiles. "See you tonight?"
- Volken Mons has posed:
Volken is silent at first. He does indeed see the resemblance.
He's also still mad at Cayde so this merely serves to remind im of the boy and his impulsive and problematic behavior and so it just ends up making his blood pressure rise briefly.
But the treatment? That settles him down again as he eyes Bia with a more critical gaze and then slowly turns his attention to eye Nash as well.
Finally, his deep voice rumbles and drawls out, likely audible to Zetha and Navi as well.
"Hey. There's not a -problem here, is it?" towards Nash. He hasn't agreed to do any work for the man yet after all so he doesn't much care what he thinks of him butting into.
"You're being noisy. And rude."
- Navi has posed:
"Um... if that's what you want, but I'm not sure it's a good idea..." Navi says to Bia, looking up from unbuttoning her pants in mild surprise. "Be careful out there, Zetha. I'll... I'll do... something. Here. Probably." She sinks down onto the bed in her undone pants as she watches her friend and her new friend depart.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Nash stops and stares up at the towering Mandalorian. "I...no. Nothing, nothing at all. And besides, it's none of your -business-. I told you I would get back to you once a decision has been made." he snaps. "Now if you'll excuse me, we've work to do." He walks away, heading toward the dining area.
The woman glances back toward the elevator, then turns back to Volken, her eyes pleading. "Your friends are planning something tonight...they'll need your help."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Right...." rumbles Volken after the man snaps at him and then storms off. He sees the women and sees the pleading glances.. Then he turns slightly towards them as they speak.
"Hmm..."
A moment later and he's glancing towards the stairs. He says nothing ...but he also stays where he's at, opting to not move and to see what might happen next.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Once evening falls, the lodge quiets down, with just a single droid operating the front desk. However, there are now what appear to be armed mercenaries pacing about the floor where the room they'd taken the luggage to was. That part was unusual...but perhaps it won't surprise Volken. That was probably why Bia had said they'd need help.
- Navi has posed:
Navi had needed a moment to recover her motivation after Zetha's plan had collapsed in the face of Bia's desire to avoid endangering Navi and Zetha for her sake. After putting her clothes back in order, she had left the bedroom and, eventually, the hotel. But not before getting an unexpected eyeful of the way Nash treats his people... after which she had sought out Volken.
"The blonde woman is related to Cayde... possibly his mother," she tells him. "And the more I see of Nash, the less I like him. I don't know how I'm ever going to pay you, but I need your help. We have to do something about this."
Now, hours later, she lurks with Volken, watching the hotel, making mental notes as to the unusually heavy security.
"That's a /lot/ of goons. I wonder just what they don't want people finding?" she asks softly.
- Volken Mons has posed:
"To many possibilities to guess at for sure without more information..." notes Volken as he calmly observes the place and attempts to assess the quality and professionalism of the hired goons from his hiding spot with Navi. " Their interest in the marauders and in hiring me is ....noteworthy and since they didn't bat an eye at me implying I might be after them myself, my guess is that wer'e lookin' at the start of some sort of turf war or grudgematch. Maybe they're after Caine or maybe someone in the maraudre group has drawn this guys ire. Either way... if what your' ewsaying is true about Cayde... Yeah....I guess we do need to do something. Especially since he'll probably do something stupid if he finds out..."
Volken makes a vague gesture, "So, if you try and go in and just -take- her...theyll just come after her if she's of some value to them and you'll have a running fight on your hands or a future one. So you need to either commit to running htem off planet or taking them out. So which is it?"
- Navi has posed:
"It's kind of what he does, yeah..." Navi murmurs in sad agreement. "I don't know if we have the clout to run them off-planet, and I don't think we have the muscle to take them out."
"But their passport data and customs logs are suspiciously empty regarding their activities and employment. There may be something we can do with that. Or we find out what they're hiding and, if it's illegal, get Republic Security to walk all over them. And in the middle of that, we snatch our two girls in slinky outfits and spirit them away."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"You've got the muscle to take them out, you've got me. YOu think some hired goons can stand up to a trained Mandalorian, much less me?" asks Volken with a huff, "I was asking more about if you want the blood on your hands if I go in there and fill the place up with holes from a repeater cannon or drop a few detonators off or fire off a few repulsor blasts or flame throwers. Maybe a few whipcords followed by an elbow drop or a dropkick. Might be able to just push the walls of the place in on them and crush 'em while they're all inside. Maybe pull the second floor down onto the first. Oh, or I could get up into a nearby building and fire on it form up there. Or maybe ram a big vechicle into the place. You got any big vechles handy?"
After a pause he then shrugs and looks away.
"Or you can just wait and do it all legal like sure, whatever. You need to probably wait for your friend anyway. The nervous girl."
- Navi has posed:
"Well, /technically/... you could just walk in and do your thing and get inside that secure area," Navi suggests softly, "and then I can arrive waving my badge around, being all, 'What's Going On Here?', find the evidence, and wrap the whole mess up nice and legally. But it hinges on finding something /actually illegal/, and big illegal at that. So it's risky. And it feels a whole lot like putting the whole job, risks and all, on your head."
She lays a hand on his armored arm, pouting faintly. "Friends don't make friends kick that many butts and take the heat for it."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Alright fine." concedes Volken after her words.
"I mean, taking on overwhelming odds is what I do for a living but I don't want you all flustured over this so okay...."
After pause he does admit, "And just going in blind isn't going to do much good. If you don't have a plan to get this lady out of there and hold onto her then you're just going to invite trouble with them getting them back, especially if they 'own' her per some laws elsewhere. You could claim Republic laws and demand they turn them over ot you if they're slaves but they could just claim they're hired help. Maybe demand that they be released into yer custody until they produce proof."
He pauses and then says, "...At least if you wanna play it all legal like..."
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
As they are discussing this in the lobby, they may hear what sounds like a woman crying and begging, and if they look up they'll see the dark-haired woman from earlier being dragged into one of the rooms on that floor by one of the mercenaries...
- Navi has posed:
"I think we just got our excuse," Navi says, standing. "Put on your goon-smackin' gauntlets. It's time to crack some heads." She's already heading for the elevator.
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Oh yeah, I dont much like that. Nope. Not at all." agrees Volken as he sees this altercation happen. "Looks like we're going with Plan C. All of the above.."
He's caught up with Navi before long, legs taking him ahead of her and heading towards the door.
When he gets there, he bangs on it loudly but not with enough force tot ry and knock it over. He then steps aside and gestures for Navi to do her deputy thing.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Even though Volken isn't quite trying to knock the door over, his banging does still result in some sizable dents. There's a pause, but after a few moment, the man they'd seen dragging her inside opens the door. They can see the two slave women from earlier, both the dark-haired one and Bia, lying on the bed behind him and weeping.
The man stares up at Volken, his eyes wide. This wasn't good. "Uhh....oh...Deputy...uh...c-can I help you?"
- Navi has posed:
"Thought I heard screams. Looks like I did," Navi says matter-of-factly, resting her hands on her hips. "So you can tell me what you were doing with them, or you can tell /him/," she continues, glancing sidelong at Volken.
"In case you haven't figured it out, he's the Bad Cop. The /very, very/ Bad Cop."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"I thought -you- were suposed to be the bad cop?" says Volken, turning slightly to look down at Navi as if forgetting he's supposed to be improvising here.
However, while looking at Navi he reaches out for the man, his massive hand looming forward towards the mans head in order to grasp for it and try and wrap its massive digits around the mans skull.
"Whenever I'm the bad cop people always complain about too many broken bones."
- Navi has posed:
"C'mon, /work/ with me here... like anybody's gonna believe /I'm/ the Bad Cop?" Navi retorts softly, unable to keep back a faint smirk.
She's missed working with Volk. A lot.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
The man seems to be too terrified to do anything, and Volken's massive hands lock around his skull. "P-please...you can have the slaves, o-okay? J-just let me go!" he begs pathetically. Whatever punishment the boss might have for him, it wasn't worth trying to fight a Mandalorian multiple times his size.
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Oh so they -are- slaves." says Volken, feigning mock surprise, "Isn't that -illegal- In the REpublic? I think it's confiscation and arrestin' time, deputy. O'course i do some illegal things as well but it's all in good fun."
HIs massive fingers twitch slightly as if begging to be allowed to start squeezing the mans skull but he doesn't release him yet.
- Navi has posed:
Navi produces a set of binders. "Put your hands behind your back, Sir," she says politely to the hired gun with the palmed and potentially now finger-grooved skull. "You're under arrest." She just as politely reads him his Republic-guaranteed rights. "And for what it's worth? You'll be safer from your boss in the lock-up that you would be here."
She looks back at Bia and her younger, darker-haired friend. "Pack your stuff, ladies. We're taking you someplace safe until this investigation's wrapped up. And probably after that, too. Don't forget anything, because you probably won't be coming back here," she advises.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
The man hesitates to comply, but then, Navi brings up the very valid point that he'll probably be safer in jail than not, given what has just unfolded. He gulps and nods, allowing her to cuff him.
Bia and the other woman get up from the bed. "Thank you," she says softly, although she still looks sad. "I hope you can do the same for the rest of us," she sighs. "After all, there's not much left in me, anyway..."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"You've got the cause to get the RDF in here as quickly as possible but don't wait." advises Volken, "As soon as they see us marching these guys out..they're going to know what's up and start scrambling. So you'll need to move fast to free the rest..."
Volken releases the poor goon now and takes a step back to let the slave, now free ladies, leave the room. He turns his helmeted gaze towards Bia as she speaks but says nothing.
- Navi has posed:
"Wait... don't march 'im out yet. Give me just a moment to send a message to Republic Security to lock this place down and muster the Major Case Squad," Navi says, producing her comm and taking a seat on the bed. She hammers out the message over a period of about four minutes, making sure to be as thorough as possible, including the customs records and passport records.
"There! Now we can go. Hopefully they'll be here in minutes," she says, closing down the text message function and returning the comlink to her medical satchel. "Just keep our boy here on a straight course outside. I'll watch out for potential trouble."
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
The message is well received, and she'll see an update that security is on its way. The younger dark-haired girl hurries out after gathering up what little she has, ready to taste freedom for the first time in years. But Bia lingers, turning to Navi once again. "You...you said you know Cayde, right?" she asks softly. "He's...he's here?"
"...How is he?"
- Volken Mons has posed:
"He's trouble." says Volken brusquely, "But I pretend he's my foundling so I suppose I have to forgive him eventually despite him being a pain in my shebs."
Beyond that he falls quiet and lets Navi do the rest of the talking and then starts to head out with the man.
- Navi has posed:
"Physically, he's fine. Mentally, emotionally... well... he's a Jedi Padawan. There are some issues involved. He means well. He could just... be more emotionally and mentally mature, to be honest," Navi replies, blushing faintly, struggling for the right words to explain the Padawan's developmental situation.
"He's had some good Masters, but they keep getting reassigned, and he has to pretty well start all over. It's complicated. I'm sure I'm to blame for some of it, too, since I'm his friend, or at least I try to be."
- Volken Mons has posed:
"Train an emotionally unstable child in mystical and magical abilities and give them a super weapon. The more I learn about the Jedi-Sorcerers the more I wonder how they've lasted this long." grumbles Volken.
"Either way he is brave and alive if stupid. THis is all probably going over her head right now so why don't you just get your to some shelter and let us get out of here before the RDF arrives." remarks Volken.
- Andromeda (1) has posed:
Bia actually laughs softly a little at that. Something she hasn't done in a long time. In spite of Cayde's many apparent problems, she seems genuinely happy at this news. She puts a grateful hand on Navi's shoulder. "Thank you...thank you both. For being his friend." then she nods, and follows them out.
- Navi has posed:
"Don't thank me yet. We're not out of this, and you haven't met him," Navi replies gently, though her comments draw another faint blush. She follows Volken out, keeping her eyes peeled for trouble and a hand on her medical satchel. Just in case she needs her staff or her lightsaber.
