Profile
Baelin Kalregar is a spice dealer who grew up on the streets of Nar Shadaa after his parents abandoned him there. He is best described as an opportunist who strives to take advantage of anyone and anything that presents itself as exploitable. However, there is nothing in this galaxy he values more than his own safety and well-being. If he's helping someone it's because there is something in it for him, or it carries minimal risk or sacrifice on his part.
Background
Baelin's parents were wealthy traveling merchants who moved from system to system, living out of their luxury cruiser. However, they were quite preoccupied with maximizing their profits, and had little to no desire to invest in a family. They spent very little time with their children, and when a young Baelin unintentionally lingered too long on Nar Shadaa one day, they left without him.
He spent the rest of his childhood living on the streets, where he fell in with a group of other orphaned urchins. They scavenged and robbed wherever they could to make ends meet, until they were picked up by a local gang. That was where Baelin learned of the spice trade and just how profitable it could be. He started out helping the gang with spice runs and smuggling, then eventually learned to strike up deals of his own. However, one day he realized his "family" was just holding him back, so he stole one of their ships along with its spice payload. Taking a few of his closest friends with him, he struck out on his own and started running his own business. He often poses as a legitmate medical spice dealer, just to make sure he capitalizes on every available opportunity to score a deal.
