Adventures in Droid Sitting
Date of Scene: 01 April 2024
Location:
Synopsis: Three Mandalorian bounty hunters chase Colonel X, Dr. Cassias' runaway droid.
Cast of Characters: 195, Ellari Zin, 362, Volken Mons

Amarik (195) has posed:
It's dusk here on Takodana, and about fifteen kilometers from the outskirts of Andui, a diminutive figure wearing dark leathers and a garish mask lays on the ground beneath several fallen logs not far from the edge of lake.

As the last rays of sunlight glitter softly over the surface of the water, the marauder pulls out a rifle silently and looks about him, as if afraid someone, or something might find him hiding here. After a few moments, he slides silently out from underneath the logs, but remains vigilant.

That droid with a massive bounty on her helm was probably still in the vicinity. And if he wanted to be successful in abandoning her out here before that smuggler Viasco could find out, there was yet a chance he could convince him to flee before the bounty hunters caused them trouble. After all, given the tracer he'd placed on the droid, the amount he'd make selling intel on her whereabouts to multiple parties would certainly triple the original bounty.

He's certain the bounty hunters will be planetside soon, if they aren't already, so he starts jogging back towards Andui, hoping to make it back to the city within the next couple hours.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari doesn't always bother herself with bounty hunter work.

...But this one was big enough to garner her attention. And the fact that someone out there had been selling intel on the whereabouts of the ship the droid had recently been seen boarding. That someone has probably been selling that intel to every hunter who would pay, which means she's prepared to encounter resistance.

Amarik might spot her ship, the rather aggressively designed 'Amber Clad', landing at the port in Andui as he is making his way back to town.

Dragr (362) has posed:
As if one might not be bad enough, another ship, obviously Mandalorian landing as the wings of the trooper class ship swing upwards to land at the port is a little more interesting. IFF identifies it as a 'Blazewing' in name.

What walks out of the ship is definitely, if a different variety of Mandalorian. Dragr's appearance is somewhat unexpected as he has a sword across his back to go with the pair of blasters.

His blue and black armor nearly blends into what shadows there are as he turns around to hit a button on his vambrace to seal up his ship. Turning back around, he starts to stride out to look around and get a lay of the land with the rangefinder on his helmet.

Volken Mons has posed:
It'd been some time since a certain VOlken Mons was out in 'the field'. His last attempt at earning some accolades and potentially some credits came up short when he was unable to lay hands on some rumored beskar. Not that he would have just sold it outright. Probably not. Hopefully. But...well..the option would have been nice!

Either way, his spending habits in places like Canto Bight or the pit fighting and gambling halls of Tattooine have dried up his accounts and the word of this missing droid arrives right on time.

Should be a piece of cake.

Word and intel brings him towards the last known sighting of his quarry and he arrives, without a ship of his own, disembarking from a freighter he'd gained passage on, and emerging with heavy lumbering steps into the starport. He comes to a stop to survey the area slowly, swiveling his head from one side to the other like some sort of moving tank turret in search of recognizable ships or individuals of note. Given the bounty --he's sure he's not alone.

Amarik (195) has posed:
As soon as Amarik spots the Amber Clad, he stops running.

Mandalorians. Where there was one, there was likely to be more. And it would turn out his intuition is right - right after the Amber Clad lands, another trooper class vessel follows it into the port, also overtly Mandalorian in both design and model. And then he sees Volken, hauling his elephantine form out of a freighter and into the starport. Well, isn't that just lovely. He stares at Volken for a moment, but then quicken his pace towards the hulking Mandalorian.

"I know why you're here," the masked marauder says to him immediately, his garish mask modulating his voice and distorting his identity.

Ellari Zin has posed:
As Ellari also disembarks her own ship, she looks about, taking note of the other very overtly Mandalorian vessel having just arrived at the port around the same time. That didn't come as a surprise. She just hopes that--

--and then she spots Volken. Ugh...never mind.

There seems to be a masked man speaking to him. Whatever. She has no desire to involve herself with that one if not necessary. Instead, she starts searching for the Vagabond's Destiny. According to the intel, that was the name of the ship the droid had been seen boarding recently. If it was still here, she'd be lucky.

Dragr (362) has posed:
The fact that he has to crane his head back to look at Volken has Dragr stopping for a moment. Technically wondering if it was some bounty hunting droid or something like that before he focuses on the masked man. Turning back to his scouting, he uses a grappling line from his vambrace to lift himself to a good vantage point.

Crouching down, he decides to open a bit of comms to his fellow Mandalorians by sending a message in Mando'a.

<< Willing to work together. You two? >>

Volken Mons has posed:
"So is this the part where I take your skull into my palm and squeeze, crumpling that helmet up like wet tissue with your head still in it? ..Ooooorrrrrr....do you tell me something that makes me happy to hear you say what you said to me?"

Volken's voice is bizarrely cheerful sounding despite his morbid threat. He was possibly kidding. Maybe.

He turns the full weight of his attention onto Amarik now, looming infront o fhim with one massive hand against his hip as he studies the marauder. He then glances past him and...sees the other very overt Mandalorian ships in the star port.

"Huh.." he rumbles thoughtfully before lookingb ack down to Amarik. "....Looks like we've got a full party about to start!"

His gaze returns back to Amarik at that, "..Better stay with me if you don't want to deal with those sticks in the mud...or be ont he wrong side of their attitudes..."

Just then, Dragr's voice kicks into his comm along a channel used by the Mandalorian's on the regular. He breathes softly, rumbling slightly in mild annoyance as he looks for the source of the signal. Dragr should be able to see he's no droid though. Those monstrous fleshy pillars of muscle that are his arms qre quite visible in their gargantuan muscled and tattooed glory. Probably makes him look even more unbelievable. MIght be better taken in if he -was- a droid of some sort.

"Depends." he answers. "She's probably still mad I didn't kiss her goodbye the last time we met."

Amarik (195) has posed:
Volken will find himself having to press his chin to his chest in order to look down at the marauder... he's almost a whole meter taller than the masked marauder, who will appear mushroom sized in comparison to the hulking Mandalorian. But if the marauder is intimidated, he doesn't show it.

He does not, however, stick close to Volken at all. When he notices Ellari heading in the direction of Vagabond's Destiny, he dashes after her, cutting across her path and holding his arms out in front of him. "The droid is not on the Vagabond's Destiny," he says hastily. "I can tell you exactly where she is." Then he pauses. "For a fee."

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari curses under the breath when she doesn't see the ship matching the description in the intel she'd procured. A local transmission appears on her comm...in Mando'a. She arches a brow at it, and fires off a quick reply, just before that masked man suddenly rushes in front of her, trying to get her to pay even more credits for even more intel on the target like some kind of desperate salesman.

"A fee, you say? Are you sure you're in the kind of position that is ideal for bargaining power?" she asks, her tone somewhat threatening as her hand goes to her side where one of her pistols is holstered.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr gives a shrug, then looks at the marauder.

His response over the channel is a bit obvious, << Of course we would. Don't tell me you are one of those motivated by greed? >>

He finally drops down after having not spotted the droid. "What sort of fee?"

Volken Mons has posed:
"Hey don't threaten the help."

Volken's massive body looms up behind the marauder, drawing closer to the other two Mandalorian's and ..sort of trapping the Tholothian between the three of them in a sort of triangular like formation...or maybe square since Volken counts for two people. Maybe three.

"Didn't they teach you any manners in House Vizsla? Don't answer that. It was rhetorical.

Because of course they didn't.

He gives no answer to the matter of splitting the bounty between the three of them. Dragr took care of that quite smoothly with his response. He likes this guy already.

"Well?" he rumbles, trying to prompt Amarik to speak quickly given the...clear potential peril he may be in.

Amarik (195) has posed:
"Yes," he says. "I have the exact coordinates. For thirty thousand." He holds his hands up placatingly, and glances briefly over at Dragr, who, so far seems to be the most amicable.

But then the marauder's demeanor changes entirely. He suddenly tenses, freezing where he is, save for craning his neck left.

Then, reaching for his twin pistols, he pulls them out with alarming finesse and speed and opens fire on Ellari.

In a moment, they'll see why. The droid is here, flying towards the spaceport, the jet thrusters embedded into her heels slowing their burn as she descends. "You lied to me!" she roars at the marauder.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari doesn't have much time to react to the droid, as she unexpected shot knocks her off her feet. She collapses to the ground, her armor smoking. Is she dead?

Perhaps that's what she wants them to believe. But truly, she's using her wrist comms to hail the local law enforcement. Given this is in the middle of the port, it shouldn't take them long to arrive...

Dragr (362) has posed:
The quick movement has Dragr moving as well as soon as he recognizes it. Which is pretty quick. He opens fire on Amarik with his own blaster. "Not a good idea."

Then he opens fire on him.

A glance is given to Ellari afterwards to make sure she might still be breathing. Maybe?

Volken Mons has posed:
It's probably a good thing Dragr reacted before Volken did. He might not like Ellari but he doesn't want her dead.

Especially not before he's had a chance to put his hand son her for that trick she pulled back on COruscant.

But that's a feud between Mandalorian's ans despite Volken's criticism of the more strict followers of THe Way of Mandalore... he is a Mandalorian and you dont' just go around shooting other Mandalorians infront of him.

Even if she is - again- trying to bring in the local security and isn't nearly as down as she's trying to act like she is. He saw that.

But the matter of the droid is ....well..a problem. It's too bad she's needed i tact.

"She's down but she aint out. Come on princess. Back to your ship..." With one arm he reaches downt ot ry and scoop Ellari up and move her away from the line of fire. The other he turns towrads the incoming Colonel X. The pillar like mass of muscle tenses and flexes, sinew sounding like stretching leather as his muscles bulge up and braces. His vambraces light up and then a powerful repulsor blast rockets out, rippling through the air towards the incoming droid to try and knock her off course and hopefully to the ground much like the Jedi might attempt with their force abilities.

Amarik (195) has posed:
As soon as Ellari collapses, the masked marauder starts running, heading straight to hide behind several storage bins to his left, as Dragr shoots, and misses him.

Ellari's transmission to the local security has several of them arriving on the scene, looking unhappy to find three Mandalorians present. "What's going on here?" they ask, glancing at Ellari's still form draped over Volken's shoulder.

But before they can further react, Volken opens fire on the droid. The blast hits home, and the droid is knocked to the ground. However, she's not out, not yet. "You...!" she snarls, and suddenly ejects several grenades in the hulking Mandalorian's direction.

Ellari Zin has posed:
When the local law enforcement arrive, some bystanders shout and point at Amarik as he tries to run off. "Th-that way! H-he went that way!" One of them calls out, pointing toward the storage crates, before taking off running for cover himself.

Perhaps surprisingly, Ellari doesn't resist Volken grabbing her, or try to struggle out of his grasp.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr looks over at the droid next, then moves to grab the handle of the sword across his back as he crouches, prepared at first before he notices the security and raises his hands. "Bounty hunters. Excuse us. We have a droid to capture."

His hand goes back to his sword to draw it. The other hand raises to launch a grappling line at the droid as he tries to pull it in.

"Get down here, droid." He says.

Volken Mons has posed:
Ah poor Ellari. She really took that hit - or she's playing dead. EIther way, Volken's got his eye on her as best he can.

When the explosives come his way, however, he turns away from them and brings Ellari around in front of him, wrapping his enormous arms about her body as the blast explodes and the force ripples across his beskar and the enhanced physique of his monstrous frame.

He weathers it. Perhaps far better then he has any right to as an organic being but then again this foundling aint quite 'normal'.

"Watch her!" he commands to the security guards as he pulls from from the smoke and debris and sets Ellari down.

He expects her to get up and run off at some point but at least she's out of the line of fire for the moment. Be a shame for a Mandalorian to be caught up in stray fire.

Instead he turns and makes a run back for the droid. "Remember to not damage it to much!" he shouts for Dragr while activating his energized knuckle dusters as he moves, slamming his massive fists together with a blast of energy resulting as he does so.

Amarik (195) has posed:
The masked marauder quickly and discreetly relocates himself when the local security forces follow the instruction of the bystanders and begin to approach his position. Thankfully, they stop chasing him for the time being anyway, as Volken has laid Ellari on the ground and instructed them to examine her for major injury.

Then he notices that Volken and Dragr seem to be getting the best of the droid. Dragr's grappling hook lands in the socket where the droid's left arm should have been and the droid topples as she is dragged towards the Mandalorian. She curses in binary, and engages her thrusters, in an attempt to get away from the blue and black armored Mandalorian. But then Volken's knuckledusters produce a blast of energy that batters her slightly. Her jet thrusters then sputter. "Get ... off of me!" She hisses.

This was starting to not look good, so the masked marauder jumps atop a passing hover freighter full of hay and puffer pigs. Then, crouching behind a stack of hay, he pulls out a sniper rifle and aiming carefully, takes two shots. One at the cord of Dragr's grappling hook, and the other at the nape of Volken's neck, at the tiny spot of flesh not covered by his armor.

Ellari Zin has posed:
However, Ellari is no longer on the ground by the time the local authorities get to the spot where Volken had dumped her. Instead, she's launched her own grappling line at a nearby traffic control tower and pulled herself to the top of it. It seems Amarik isn't the only one with a rifle. She takes aim at the droid, attempting to strike that thin metal panel that protects the energy accumulators while the machine is busy grappling with Dragr and Volken's assaults.

With enough force, hopefully the blast could quickly destroy the vulnerable cover piece and expose the power source beneath it.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr had found his line... shot? Well, that won't do.

He looks to where the shots came from and transmits to the other two Mandalorians, << Sniper. Watch out. >>

That being said, he moves in to swing his sword at the limbs the droid's thrusters are attached to.

That can be repaired, right?

Volken Mons has posed:
"-Intact-" snaps Volken, desite the fact that he just landed a blow that wouold flip a speeder over.

"Intact!" he repeats, "You want them to pay us, dont' you??"

Ah well, it's too late now.

The blaster fire pings off of his armor as he moves -just- in time. It was close. Too close. Not even he wants to put to test if he can take a sniper shot to the back of his neck.

For his part, he instead reaches out to try and pin the droid to the ground and hold her though Dragr's assault may make any additional struggles moot.

"The compliance protocol. Activate the protocol!"

Amarik (195) has posed:
When Volken dogpiles the droid and Dragr makes a hefty swing at her legs, things go from bad, to worse.

Dragr's blow completely severs her lower left leg from the ankle down, while severely damaging the heel and thruster of the right leg. Volken is effective in pinning her down, but the droid is still struggling so violently that the hulking Mandalorian will find that some of her outer protective plating is getting crushed in the process.

The masked assassin then discards his cover. Clambering atop one of the haystacks on the hover freighter, he pulls out his twin pistols and starts opening fire on Volken, doing his best not to hit the droid in the process.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari rolls her eyes as Dragr slices off one of the droid's feet. That could mean their pay might get docked unless they pay to repair it. Ah well. Too late. With the energy accumulators exposed, she tries firing her grappling line at them, in attempt to pull them out or knock them out.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr turns as he sees that the other two have the droid in hand near as he can tell. And it's not getting away so easily without legs.

That leaves the sniper. Who has helpfully exposed themselves now.

Dragr pulls out his blaster pistol as he moves his sword to a more guarding position and starts to advance that way via his jetpack giving him a boosted jump. And he just flat out opens fire repeatedly on the way down.

Volken Mons has posed:
"I said be careful!" thunders Volken at Dragr, "We gotta bring it in intact if we want the max payout. You're carving her up like----arrrgggh!"

Volken's bass voice is cut off by a strangled rumble frustration and pain as the blater fire strikes home, scoring into and across his elephantine sized shoulder before slaming into the beskar armor itself to spray sparks in very possible direction.

The damage is enough to cause the giant to release the droid, rolling clear of her to press his massive body agianst the side of a support column to attempt to seek cover as best he can. So the droid is indeed no longer in hand.

What is in hand? His gigantic repeator cannon. ONe of them at least. He carries two because he just loves to roll like that but one might be enough. It starts whirling as he turns it to aim it in the direction the shot came from though he adjusts his targetting to try and create some cross fire with Dragr's own shooting. The cannons begin whirling and and instant later a hail of blaster fire is rocketing out towards where he guesses Amarik to be.

Amarik (195) has posed:
Unfortunately, the instructions regarding the energy accumulators hadn't been very clear, other than, they'd be 'easy to remove if the droid was offline.' There'd been nothing specifying that the accumulators needed to be slid out of their dockets, not yanked. So Ellari will just have to find out the hard way - it takes a strong couple yanks to free the accumulators, and when they do come free, they tear out half of the droid's back upper chassis, revealing the droid's grenade shaft.

"L-L-L-Leave m-m-m-m... or-or-or-or d-d-d...." the droid stutters.

It may suddenly then come to their attention that all the timed grenades on the droids now exposed back chassis are ticking down... The panel on its back, however, is open, and if one of them can get to the droid quickly enough to hit the power switch or activate the compliance protocol...

The masked assassin might have been small, but he at least has lightning reflexes. He leaps down from the bale of hay in time to avoid both Dragr and Volken's volley of blaster of fire.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari frowns when the rear part of the chassis is torn off. She'd followed the instructions, which had said to remove the energy accumulators. But now the droid is trying to self-destruct. Well, let it. 50,000 credits isn't worth risking her life. Perhaps they could split whatever intact parts are left, and if the 'client' comes asking after them, then maybe a mutually beneficial deal could be struck.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr has to think a bit, but decides much like Ellari that being around is not a good thing for that. He looks back to the assassin as he rushes towards him, continuing to open fire.

Dragr drops down in preparation for the imminent explosion, of course, just to be safe!

Volken Mons has posed:
She might be in a position to just 'let it' being that she's much further away but those on the ground, including others in the space port and the security people...and Volken. Less so.

He's near enough to it to see what's happenig given that he just rolled aside after Amarik's attack to seek cover and the droid did not make an attempt to escape. Thus when it seems as if there's a countdown under wa but the switch is exposed...he drops his repeater cannon and lunges forward to use the reach of his arm and proximity of his body to try and hit the switch in time.

Amarik (195) has posed:
Once again, the masked assassin somersaults, escaping Dragr's blaster fire. After avoiding the other Mandalorian's assault, his attention is drawn back to the droid, who seems to be about to self destruct.

And yet, Volken is able to prevent this, by managing to reach the power switch and press it downward in the nick of time. The distinctive hum of the droid powering down can be heard as the droid goes dark, and then flops over, a few pieces of stray paneling falling off of her.

But Volken isn't out of the woods yet. The masked assassin is coming for the droid, and clearly does not plan to let Volken get between him and the prize. His guns are blazing as he opens fire on the massive Mandalorian.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari arches a brow as Volken manages to shut the droid down in just the nick of time. As much as she doesn't like the man, she has to hand this one to him. He risked his life--perhaps foolishly--but luck had ultimately ended up on his side today. Well anyway even if it hadn't, out of all of them he's surely the one most likely to be able to survive such a blow.

Therefore, she isn't going to let this masked coward steal from him what he clearly deserved. She turns her rifle on Amarik then, and attempts to shoot him as he tries to claim the prize that cleary doesn't belong to him.

Dragr (362) has posed:
Seeing Amarik run that way towards the droid, Dragr takes off to try to intercept him and take a swing at him with his sword.

The non-traditional approach is definitely different to the two that are shooting at him a lot.

Not to mention Dragr's showing no fear of having to take a chunk out of the masked assassin and possible droid nabber!

Volken Mons has posed:
Luck is a skill, after all. ANd without the physique, skill and capabilities of a Mandalorian, let alone one that is an augmented being at that, it probably wouldn't have happened.

"you're welcome." he snarls sardonically into his comm over their shared channel.

"You two better remember that on the next Life Day!"

His words are cut off as the blaster fire scomes home again but this time he's more prepared. His beskar armor does most of the work. His immense sturdy body the rest -

As DrAGR'S takes another swing and misses, Volken rears up from the droid and turns towards THE ASSASSIN. "iT'S OVER! yOU WANT TO TICK OFF THREE PUNCH-HAPPY mANDO'S? bE MY GUEST.."

he looms forward, seeking to close in on Amarik as his massive arm raises up and his knuckle dusters crackle to life with blazing energy that trails behind them as he takes a lunging swing for the assassin.

He can be non traditional as well. Or rather..this is the tadition for him.

Amarik (195) has posed:
The odds aren't in the masked marauder's favor, it would seem. Ellari's blasts skim his left calf, leaving a few burn marks. Next, Dragr tries to turn him into a sliced deli meat, but he manages to evade that assault.

And then Volken tries to flatten him. He rolls aside in the nick of time, so that the hulking Mandalorian's knuckleduster just barely grazes his shoulder, leaving a reddened scratch, but no more.

He scrambles to his feet, and just as a passing skiff is leaving the spaceport, he leaps atop it, hopefully making a clean getaway. If Wynn wants to keep chasing the droid -- well at least he now knows who's taking her.

Unfortunately, it looks like Volken might have to plead or resort to violence to get the full bounty. The droid is... in bad shape. Much of her armor is burned and dinged, she's missing a foot, and the switch for the compliance protocol is both damaged and stuck.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari watches as the masked stranger finally does the smart thing and retreats. She comes down from her perch, but doesn't move toward the droid. Instead, she just glances down at the ruined mess. "Well, I guess the bounty's yours," she remarks, taking her helmet off and shrugging before looking up at Volken. "Whatever's left of it, anyway."

Dragr (362) has posed:
Dragr shrugs, "No problem with it here." He comments, turning to head back towards the spaceport as he sheaths the sword and holsters his blaster pistol.

Volken Mons has posed:
The giant Mando reaches up and removes his helmet as well, letting his messy dark hair fall loose and setting his unshaven brick of a jaw into a deep set frown as he peers at the ruined droid.

At the casual disregard for the condition of the droid when they full well know he's not going to have to fight to get a cent out of hsi mess they helped make...he just shakes his head.

"I shojuld fold both ofyour ships up into balls of scrap and use them to fix this mess!" he shouts angrily beore just shaking his head and reaching down to start retrieving what he can of the busted up droid.

"What a pain. That's strike -five- for her and one for him...."
