Synopsis: Jorn talks to Volken about Revara, and later it's revealed the Dark Saber's owner is dying.
Cast of Characters: 159, Ellari Zin, 418, Volken Mons

Athena (159) has posed:
It's quiet evening in Sundari, and on the street right outside the accommodations for the wedding guests, a street vendor selling his latest experimental liquor is giving away free samples to any passerbys who might show an inkling of interest.

A small crowd has gathered outdoors to investigate this vendor, and in a nearby alleyway, the dishonorable prodigal daughter lurks behind a dumpster, watching the crowd warily.

Sighing in quiet frustration, she taps her commlink and sends a text transission to Jorn, who is probably either inside, alone with his thoughts, or outside, observing small gathering outside. |I need a favor|

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari happened by the vendor and the small crowd that had gathered, although she wouldn't exactly call herself interested in an "experimental" brew. At least, not without knowing exactly what's in it. However, she might be a bit more interested in who this vendor is...

Jorn (418) has posed:
The text comes back, |What's the favor?|. As Jorn is actually in line with the people. He's trying to immersnelve in all of this. And so, this is an attempt to learn more about people from an outsider looking in. Although, he will try to keep an eye out for familiar faces.

Athena (159) has posed:
Ellari's interest might pivot, when it becomes apparent that both the Von'egel twins are here. They're not in line, however, it seems they're good friends with the vendor, and at the moment, are making casual conversation with him while he serves his drink.

|I need a place to stay. Where's your ship?|

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari rolls her eyes. Great. Suddenly, her interest evaporates. However, she notices Jorn in line...

Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn feels attention on him, but he doesn't look back. Simply states, "I'm trying to see what the fuss is about," the comment straight forward. And then he will look, scan to see who has his attention while he waits for the favor to be asked of him.

Volken Mons has posed:
Volken Mon's arrival is appropriately mountainous. The behemoth of a Mandalorian is not in line but he is making his way down the streets, heading back towards the places that had been assigned to him as part of this affair that seems to be going on and on without end to it in sight or end to the troubles that are plaguing him.

But he gave his word to stay, so stay he will. It seems the bride and groom have taken a liking to him so that is at least something.

From a distance he spots some familiar faces and he frowns before turning his attention towards te line and he begins an approach towards Jorn.

Athena (159) has posed:
Volken too might notice the twins near the vendor outside the accommodations. Naturally, they notice him approaching, and one of them watches him as he comes nearer. He says nothing, though.

Reeve grumbles and exits the alleyway, giving Ellari a wide berth and even ensuring that she moves towards the street in a fashion that obscures her from the other female Mandalorian. She then tries audio with her comm transmission from closer. "Jorn...! I need a place to stay. Is your ship still at the spaceport?"

Ellari Zin has posed:
Fortunately for Reeve, Ellari doesn't seem to notice her. She does notice Volken, though. And Jorn apparently saying something about his ship into his comm. She glances back over at the Von'egels. Ugh, this was probably a waste of time.

Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn makes sure his ship is locked and things rae in place so it cannot leave the world. Then he responds. "Ship is unlocked." And he knows there is not too much to take since most of that is on him. However, he looks back to Ellari for a moment. The question is to her, but maybe Ellari wasn't looking at him.

Volken Mons has posed:
It's hard to miss them but he's in don't bother me, I won't bother you mode. He might be a brute but he keeps his word.

The fact that this is a new liquor does catch his attention but he's got something more business orientated on his mind.

"You." he rumbles brusquely towards Jorn, though he soon softens his tone and says, "..Jorn. We need to talk... I'm not one one t'normally do this but... Yes. We need to talk."

His gaze flickers slightly off towars the side. He sees her but he makes great pains to pretend as if he's -not- seeing her.

Again. A promise is a promise.

Athena (159) has posed:
There's a pregnant pause. Revara makes eye contact with Volken briefly, but thankfully does not approach him, or the crowd. "I..." another pause. "I need help moving some of my things," she says to Jorn over the comm.

The Von'egel twin who had been watching Volken previously continues to watch, arms folded, as he approaches the green armored Mandalorian and demands to speak with him.

Ellari Zin has posed:
And then it's apparently Volken's turn to demand to have a talk with Jorn. Seems he's getting a lot of that these days. But she also folds her arms and watches with some interest. Would he have basically the same thing as her to say to him?

Jorn (418) has posed:
A text comes through <I'll help you as soon as possible. You have my word> to Revara. And then Volken is in front of him, asking for conversation. Jorn will nod. "You have my ear. Wherever you wish to go to have it," he says to the big man knowing this is going to be an interesting talk. Jorn will simply wait to see where this will go. He expects Revara will witness that it's Volken that has his attention.

Volken Mons has posed:
Well it's impossible to -not- see Volken - but he doesn't give Revara any attention.

"Good. C'mon." He turns to try an lead Jorn away from the line and off to the side, near another alleyway, "..Private conversation." he adds. He saw Revara after all. While he did not hear the conversation pass between Jorn and Revara, unlike Ellari, he doesn't want to chance she's listening in.

When he finishes moving off, he waits for Jorn to confirm that the two can speak as such before saying anything further.

Athena (159) has posed:
Revara grumbles, and peers at Volken and Jorn as they walk away, from behind the marble sculpture she's lurking behind. What were they planning to talk about? She considers following, but that would risk them seeing her...

Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn follows Volken as they turn into more private surroundings. "We're alone. We can talk," Jorn says calmly. He knows everyone has a reason for such requests. And so, he simplpy waits for the conversation to com eforward. No weapons at the ready.

Volken Mons has posed:
"I spoke with Thaelin and his wife. They requested I stay..so I'm here. You already know your 'fiance' is troubled but do you rally know why? You're getting her side of the story and not the whole picture judging from th tings youve said about The Duke and his failings." says Volken, tone even and eyes locked on Jorn as he looms overhead.

"It's because of her mother. I believe Revara is acting out so much because in her own way she's trying to capture something she never had. Her mothers love and acceptance. In my opinion she thinks that by earning feats and honor she'll somehow elevate her standing and become accepted by her and she's willing to go through great lenghts to do so. She saw me as an obstacle and so had been working hard to remove me from the field of the scrimmage because she feared losing and coming away looking bad as she wasn't satisfied with your team. Her acts away from Mandalore probably figure into this as well."

His eyes narrow on Jorn and then he says slowly, "You should be prepared for the possiblity that their mother might show at the wedding in some sort of show of diplomatic and political power. We're being dragged into some sort of family feud..."

Athena (159) has posed:
After a moment, against her better judgement, Revara decides to sneak after Jorn and Volken. She has a feeling they're talking about her, or at least on a topic that had to do with her.

Looking to the left and right, she then moves forward discreetly towards where the other two Mandalorians are talking...

Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn listens and then a particular word comes out. "It's because of her moth--," a hand goes up. A look to the alleyway. "Who has my attention?" he calls out to the party in question. Is it Revara? Most likely. It's not guaranteed. So, he will give the party a chance to come forward. A hand doesn't go to his blaster. Both hands are away from the weapons. One in front of Volken and the other just at his side.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari watches Volken and Jorn step away, and considers trying to listen in but thinks better of it.

Athena (159) has posed:
Revara frowns when Jorn calls her out, but doesn't reveal herself. Instead, she tucks her self deeper into the space between the permacrete wall and the vehicle she's hiding behind, hoping Jorn doesn't come after her.

While Ellari is contemplating following Jorn and Volken, a young girl, who looks to be around Emmaen's age runs up to the crowd surrounding the vendor giving away free drink samples. "Did you hear?? Old man Vizsla was rushed to the hospital. A blood vessel in his brain burst open...!" The crowd murmurs in shock and disbelief. "Watch your mouth adika! If this is your idea of a joke...!"

"No, no! I mean it. It just happened, an hour ago... the doctors say it doesn't look good..."

Ellari will recognize the pet name immediately. The man who owned the Dark Saber...!

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari stares at her, although she is perhaps not as shocked as the rest. He'd been an aging man. But this meant...a potential passing of the baton. Maybe even a transition of power...an opportunity, anyway.

Volken Mons has posed:
Now aware that someone is near, Volken frowns and directs his attention towards where Jorn has espied a potential eavesdropper.

He may have no visible weapons but he is armored and the armor comes arrayed with its share of aresenal now doesn't it. "You have five seconds to come out or I come in." he rumbles omniously. However, the girls shouts do draw his attention. Even Volken is starkly aware of what such a potential passing could mean. Though he's no love for that family - well most of the families - the potential there is incredible. Typical for Mandalorian's to focus on that first before teh potential loss of a life but such is their culture. "Huh. Now that's interesting..."

Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn is about to say something more about the intruding when the shouting begins. He'll pause to send out a text, |Your father. I can help you move or we can help him.| He starts to move out of the alleway, but will move to let Volken get away. Suspecting the intruder of the alley is Revara, he hangs back to see. Jorn will follow her lead.

Jorn has questions for Volken now that will come at a later day. Interruption saw that his own concerns are circumvented.

Athena (159) has posed:
"That was bound to happen," one of the twins scoffs. "Weak genes breed even weaker men..."

"Shut up, di'kut!" someone in crowd replies tartly.

The girl glances over at the House Vizsla barons, then over at Ellari. "What will your House do? Old Man Vizsla can't fight anyone. He's in a coma and the doctors don't think he'll ever wake up."

Shockingly, Revara complies. "Are you hearing this?" she says to Jorn and perhaps Volken as well. "The Dark Saber might actually get passed on from House Vizsla..."

Volken Mons has posed:
"Yes I have ears." says Volken, surly sounding, as Revara reveals herself. At least she's not attacking him. He may be able to actually hold a conversation with her.

Again, promises. He reminds himself of his promise.

"And I know what you're talking about what are -we- supposed to do about it. Do you think they're going to just put the Darksaber up for auction? Obviously someone in House Vizslais going to demand the right to it. The likelyhood of it just being passed on to any house that asks is slim to nil."

Ellari Zin has posed:
"Hm." Ellari looks pensive. "I am not certain. But it is a discussion that will be held soon, I'd imagine. Most likely we will wait to see what happens. Whether he recovers, or whether he passes of natural causes. Then we will deliberate."

Athena (159) has posed:
Strangely enough, Revara seems to be oddly level headed at the moment. Perhaps Jorn had had a positive influence on her after all.

Her eyes narrow. "Well he isn't dead yet, but use that brain of yours. No one can just demand the right to the Dark Saber. It can only be possessed by invoking the rite. Meaning, someone will have to die in order for it to be passed on. If they keep the matter within the House, the chances that someone prominent and influential in their House will die is almost guaranteed. This will increase internal strife, which they already have enough of as is." She scoffs.

"You should know that Old Man Vizsla's biological grandsons are Thaelin and the twins. So they and their families will be deeply entrenched in all of this, regardless of what they want. You share no love for the twins or me, I know, but I know a large part of the reason why you're still here on Mandalore is because of Thaelin. And he trusts you. That's not something easily earned, not in his books."

Her eyes narrow. "You said it yourself. You've been pulled into a family feud, one that you're not going to be able to back out of without hurting -someone-. But if that isn't what being Mandalorian is all about, then I don't know what is." She then turns away, heading back towards the small gathering by the drink vendor.

The girl is shaking her head. "And if he dies? What do you think will happen?" she presses Ellari.

Ellari Zin has posed:
"Then there must be some kind contest to prove who is worthy of possessing it." Ellari replies. "What sort of contest I do not know. Perhaps a tournament of some kind."

Volken Mons has posed:
This is almost a completely different person from Volken's perspective and it actually catches him off guard. Perhaps it is Jorn's influence or perhaps there's more to it then that but..

"So it takes the threat o'destablizing politics and war to make you lucid eh? Maybe we shoulda brought you to more war torn planets or something..." he grumbles but he's also unable to invoke any sort of counter argument.

Although something said does hit him and hit him hard. How closely linked this family is to it all had escaped him until now and he shakes his head and rests his hands onto his hips.

"...You gotta be kidding me..."

After a pause he adds, "The saber -can- be won by defeating in battle. It doesn't have to end in death but in the other yielding. THey could do it without risking their lives unless there was a motive to cull the herd, so to speak..."

When Ellari speaks he looks towards her, "It seems likely if people being demanding the rite..."

Athena (159) has posed:
The girl looks thoughtful, "oh, you mean like the one the Duke was going to host for his son's wedding, but then called off?" This seems to give her some food for thought to turn over in her mind by herself, and she peels away, hurrying away down the street, not waiting for Ellari's response.

Revara leers at Volken, gripping the dagger holstered at her hip for a moment. "Don't test your luck with me," she growls, but doesn't attack him. Instead, she backs away, shrugging. "It's rare for it to not end in death. And you know Mandalorians, there's a good chance that if someone doesn't die, they won't accept the passage of the Dark Saber into someone else's possession."

Volken Mons has posed:
"-Some- might not. Your father would be the one to encourage otherwise, dont' you think?" countrs Volken. "Why waste bodies." He notes the dagger grip but is non plussed by it and he then adds, "Don't worry your pretty little head over me. I made a promise. Mine is not the luck being pressed. You behave yourself and stay lucid you won't have to worry about me. Have you forgotten? I risked my life for -you- and didn't even know you. Remember that."

He looks back toawrds Ellari, "As to the scrimmage...the girl has a point. If anything it shows that with the right motivation people will make even the most simple of affairs complicated and THe Darksaber is the most complicated thing despite how smple it is to earn it..."

Ellari Zin has posed:
"Maybe," Ellari replies, even though the girl doesn't really hear the answer. She doesn't seem that confident about it, though. The darksaber seemed to be too important to be left to a game of meshergoya. Or even several games.

Athena (159) has posed:
"Of course he would, but that's what has me concerned. He will fight to not waste bodies over the Dark Saber, but there are too many who want to cling to the tradition of the invoking the rite meaning a fight to the death. And he may be overwhelmed." Revara doesn't reply to Volken's taunting, but her expression softens. "You should go find Thaelin," she says quietly. "I would, but I know he won't see me right now."

She shoots a scathing glare at Ellari, but then turns to leave without attacking her, either.

Volken Mons has posed:
"Again the rite -doesn't- haev to end in death. If a person claims the saber and the other must surrender or can't fight back then the Darksaber is theres and no matter how much grumbling is done they -dare- not go against the ancient traditions. If thy want to push it into trying to kill off their competitors then that is on them but the rite can always be invoked no matter what so what difference does it make. IF the goal is to avoid bloodshed and bring us together then not killing the best of our best in single combat would seem wise.."

Volken's deep voice arries even if Revara is leaving but her suggestion to go find Thaelin does rest on him.

Grumbling he shakes his head, "What am I...his bodyguard now?" He shoots Ellari a final glance as if to say 'This is all your fault' but he says nothing aloud and then turns to also leave to....go and find Thaelin.

Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari arches a brow at that. How was it her fault? She shakes her head. Of course, the ones who disliked her would find some way to blame her for every unfortunate thing.
