A Dual Role
Date of Scene: 27 December 2024
Location:
Synopsis: Syralana is recruited as the Tenoo Initiative's primary comms officer.
Cast of Characters: 159, 431, Navi

Athena (159) has posed:
It's a beautiful day on Coruscant, and certainly not one anyone would want to spend indoors. But for some, there isn't a choice - Chancellor Rie's outer rim colonial initiative will depart in a week, which means the RDC is suddenly at the top of the waitlist when it comes to recuritment for security personnel.

Several members of the RDC would have been summoned to the Republic Executive Building, to speak with the Chief of Coruscant Police, who's apparently serving on the leadership committee for the initiative.

Syralana (431) has posed:
It's not like Syralana ever bothered with anything even remotely like a uniform. At least, not without some big reason to - and this didn't qualify. Heck, last time it did was when she was in training. Since then it's been bouncing around the galaxy, and this was no exception. Back to Coruscant, 'dust' still on her boots. She gently knocks the toe of her boot to the floor as she steps out of the lift, almost like she was removing the dust.

Striding toward the Cheif's door, she was pulling out the identification. Turning it over and opening it so that it was the RDC version of it instead of her press credentials. She made sure to show them to the security before heading on in. She wasn't sure if this was a one-on-one or more of a 'group meet and greet.'

Athena (159) has posed:
There's a couple of other people in the room aside from the Chief, but they're not RDC. They dont seem too happy to see her, but dont comment.

"Syralana," The Mon Calamari grunts cordially. "Bokan Kurrnak," he says. "A pleasure. You do special ops, or so I hear?"

Syralana (431) has posed:
There's a moment where she opens her mouth as if she knows exactly who Bokan is, but then her mouth closes and her eyes sort of dance around with a furrow of her brow. She had it a second ago, but for the life of her she can't place it. Right on the tip of her tongue. After a moment of confusion, she ditches the possible awkwardness to step forward and hold out her hand.

"Syralana, RDC Intelligence. It's a pleasure to meet you Mister Kurrnak." She does, however, do her best to give a winning smile. Perhaps in an attempt to offset the situation.

Athena (159) has posed:
His brows arch slightly. "Chief," he grunts in displeasure, "Chief Kurrnak."

"Now, about the assignment. It's special. We're currently working on getting you saddled as the primary comms officer for the initiative."

Syralana (431) has posed:
"Oh! Right, uh, sorry. Chief Kurrnak." She nods her head quickly, still smiling as she steps back and tucks her hands behind her back. She wasn't good at her job because she stood on ceremony and all. Wait, was she good at her job? She looks contemplative for a brief moment before recovering and waiting.

"Yes. Oh, uh, primary comms officer, chief?" Her eyebrows arch as she tilts her head a bit, "I could probably do that, like, as in PR or...?"

Athena (159) has posed:
The Mon Calamari waves a hand dismissively at Syralana.

"Well, yes. To a degree. But the primary comms officer will have the particularly important responsibility of drafting and then sending monthly reports to Coruscant regarding the status of the initiative as well as any other bits of relevant information about what's happening with the colony in general." He pauses. "It will need to be both truthful and tactful, as the reports you send will, in some shape or form, after some editing, be released publicly onto the HoloNews."

Syralana (431) has posed:
Syralana furrows her brows for a moment, then nods, looking to the others around the room for the moment. With her long jacket in that cyan color, she looked anything but the professional RDC Officer she technically was. So long as they didn't expect her to like, guide troops in kicking down doors or something. Her eyes flick back to the Mon Calamari and she nods again.

"Okay, so a bit of PR, and then the usual sort of reports. Just, more official-like this time, instead of the usual rigmarole." She sort of gestures toward the door, "Do I need to... tailor them? Are these for you-us? The RDC? Or the Senate? I know the Senate will assume we're always underselling instead of giving the facts after all."

Athena (159) has posed:
The other officers' expressions sour even more when Syra looks over at them, but again just stay quiet.

"They're for all of those you just mentioned," Kurrnak says. Then there's a pregnant pause. "But you should know. This won't be a run of the mill mission." He glances over at the other two officers. "Officers Mondrian and Veena. You'll likely be working quite closely with them."

Syralana (431) has posed:
Another beat as she looks back at the two Officers in question. She's feels like she's a very different sort of Officer. She shifts from foot-to-foot for a moment, then back toward Chief Kurrnak. "Okay, what else do I need to know for this Op? I'll be running as the Comms Officer, send reports to you in regards to the Colony. Keep it direct, make sure to include information on initiatives and the general well-being of the place, and I have to lack-err, lackadaisical looking people working with me."

She looks back to the two she almost called lackeys, "Sorry, you two just don't exactly look particularly lively, but I imagine I'll get a chance to hear about your views on the way over, right? Mondrian? Veena?"

Athena (159) has posed:
Mondrian's scowl deepens. "Listen. Kurrnak didn't go digging around for an RDC intel officer for nothing. If the Republic wanted some semi intelligent nerf herder who can write flowery words to bureaucrats, they would have hired a pair of Hologossip journalists and called it a day."

"On the other hand, the RDC officers who came in earlier today wouldn't have been able to write a proper news article to save their asses. We need expertise in both areas because we have reason to believe that a lot of the people, including those in leadership, are hiding something. Or maybe more than one something."

Syralana (431) has posed:
"If they wanted to hire someone to write flowery words to /bureaucrats/ they should hire one of the lobbyists. Hire a Hologossip journalist and all you're getting is the twelve to sixteen crowd and those more interested in conspiracy and who's going to win the next holo-view awards." At this point Syralana has her arms crossed over her chest, her chin jutting out just a bit as she stares at Mondrian.

"And if they wanted someone who could give a technical overview of the position, then sure. Go grab one of those officers." She tosses her arms a bit wide, "But okay, if you know what the mission brief is -- are you Mondrian or Veena? Either way, if you know it, then by all means. Since that's what I'm here for. The briefing. Which includes:" She starts ticking off her fingers, "What I'm writing about. Who I'm writing to. What my legend is. Who my handler is. And what my exit strategies are."

Athena (159) has posed:
The man frowns. "Mondrian," he says, "And you're just going to have to be fine with not a lot of parameters. We're literally going into the unknown, with the knowledge that some of the colonists aren't who they seem to be. That's it. And if you're not okay with that, then walk away now." His eyes narrow and he also folds his arms. "You know who you're writing to and what you're writing about. You'll help us on the inside but no one else is allowed to know why we're really there or about the work we're doing. You'll need to figure out how to package the truth as a partial lie so the masses here will eat it up. That way, the project stays afloat and the Chancellor happy."

"There is no exit strategy. You either commit, or you walk away now. But if you can figure out your own, then good for you." He smirks.

Syralana (431) has posed:
"Ahhh, so you /do/ want a PR campaign." Syralana taps at her chin, tilting her head as she thinks about it, "Okay. So you want two reports. One, official, and a second that can be used to help promote the entire endeavor. Sure, easy enough." She lets her hand fall forward, gesturing with a finger between Mondrian and Veena,

"So who are you two exactly again? As in, why are you here? Handlers? Back-up? What? And, you gotta be joking. So, whole thing goes sideways, turns out the whole place is turned, and you expect /me/ and /my/ resources to just ~magically~ rescue myself? And what's my legend? Who am I supposed to be? My Reporter NOC?"

Athena (159) has posed:
"The official report is just going to be a data dump," Mondrian says. "And will be highly confidential. It should only be seen by us, you, and the other hired help, Arsok Vons." He rolls his eyes. "And yes. But the one you send to Coruscant can't sound too shiny. Otherwise, some our sponsors who are personally connected to the colonists might start to get suspicious."

"Veena and I are both lead detectives who work for the undercover CSF. Our handler is technically Black, Head of the UCSF. But he's a very hands off supervisor and isn't actually comimg with us." Mondrian frowns, looking around. "Look, stop making us tell you everything over and over again. On the roster, you're the primary comms officer. That's who everyone will know you as. You'll answer to us, and everything we ask you to do, didn't happen, if any of the colonists, including the Jedi, ask. Got it? If you don't like it, then walk away now. This kind of work isnt for nuna chicks, so if you cant wrap your head around the fact that Black doesnt bail us out like spoiled children then you can go." He scowls.

Syralana (431) has posed:
There's a slow nod of her head, as if she needs to further explain to someone who's not catching on, "R-r-r-right, Primary Comms Officer is a /job/, but it's not all that I need. If I walk around saying Hi I'm Primary Comms Officer! I'll be getting strange looks won't I? Because it's not the whole story. Do I have a fake name? Who does this Comms Officer work for? Am I the /colony's/ Primary Comms Officer? Why was the Primary Comms Officer not already on planet or are we going with some colonists? These are part of the legend or, as you might be more used to hearing it, the cover. Being told Go do this thing, here's a job title. will get you killed."

She gives a furrow of a brow, "And if you think having an exit strategy in advance is being 'spoiled' then that tells me /a lot/ about the sort of people you've dealt with." She gives a tilt of her head, "You can keep digging that hole with the chip on your shoulder though. Or, I dunno, maybe I could be given a standard issue dossier on the Op along with the most /basic/ information that's expected of an Intelligence operation?"

Athena (159) has posed:
Mondrian smirks. He seems to think something is funny, but doesn't say what. "You work for the Republic. You'll be using your real name, just a lot of what you're doing will have to be kept under wraps. Got it? We'll be going with the colonists on the Legacy II. No one's left yet. You really don't know anything, do you? Guess you don't watch the evening HoloNews."

Kurrnak seems uncomfortable. "Look, I'm sorry about the lack of intel. This isn't actually an undercover assignment, just what you're investigating is meant to be kept secret. The Chancellor is a fan of transparency, and didn't want me putting together a special ops team with a full alias detail. But I'll see what I can rustle up for you, and will make sure that if things go south, you'll be extracted safely." However he does mot offer this to Veena and Mondrian, who both seem thoroughly annoyed and disappointed with her. "That's all for now," Kurrnak says, "I'll touch base with the RDC, so check your commlink for a full briefing deck later today."

Syralana (431) has posed:
A sort of slow drawn in breath through her nose, then the exhale through her mouth. She gives him a smile a tilt of her head, "Oh... the news? Did you forget to read the history on the planet? So you didn't see that it wasn't the /first/ wave of colonists? Odd that they didn't have a Primary Comms Officer, huh?" Her eyebrows go up, "Or were you thinking it would be the Ship's Primary Comms Officer? Or Was that the new town's Primary Comms Officer? Or the Republic liaison Primary Comms Officer or- or- or...?" She gives Mondrian a smile that looks like she's explaining basic math, "Keep up the great work there, undercover officer, maybe one day you'll make it! You can do it!"

She turns back to Kurrnak, the expression dropping, "I can see that, somewhat, but you're asking me to burn my NOC for this. That's not a viable solution for what you're asking. What I can offer you is a different option. I need a holonet address to send the articles to anyway, just make sure whoever is receiving it makes sure to pass /mine/ to the right office. I go there as a Reporter, no official ties, and you still get the information you need. Give me two commlinks. One for passing along information from my handler for special orders, the second for extract if needed."

Athena (159) has posed:
Mondrian doesn't reply. Instead he rolls his eyes and gestures obscenely at Syralana before exiting the room with Veena. Well this was going to be fun.

Kurrnak looks tired and frustrated as he watches them leave, brows furrowed. "I'll see what I can do to make sure you dont have to burn your NOC. But the Tenoo initiative is still going to need a primary comms officer, so you'll either need to somehow make that work or we'll recruit someone else, who will have to be kept completely in the dark about your work."

Syralana (431) has posed:
Syra moves over and sits down in the chair in front of Kurrnak now that she doesn't have people who will be standing behind her. She shifts and starts tapping at her chin with her eyes flicking up and to the side, "Whole point of me being an independent reporter, is that I'm not tied to the RDC or the government." She starts to chew on the inside of her lip a bit, then looks off to the side before back to the Mon Cal.

"Okay. So, again, is this Primary Comms Officer attached to the Tenoo colony? CSF? RDF? The colony ship? If it's the CSF or RDF, I might as well throw my NOC out since that ties me back to the government." She gives another furrow of her brow, "If that's what the RDF wants me to do, then of course, but I'd need those orders, signed and dated, by my CO. I want to find a path forward for both of us here."

Athena (159) has posed:
"The primary comms officer is a role that's uniquely tied to Tenoo initiative. But where we recruited from doesn't have be explicitly tied to the Republic. Hell, you could be a pioneer from the Outer Rim, vetted and approved by the Republic to join the initiative," Kurrnak says.

Syralana (431) has posed:
Another nod of her head, "O-o-okay, so it's the Primary Comms Officer specifically for the Tenoo Initiative, so more the new Tenoo colony." She hums again and then nods once more, "Okay, yeah, that works." A bit of a wry smile, "Though, ironically, it's still an undercover Op. Just, not for you as much as me." She slips up from her seat.

"So if I have this all. You need me to be the Tenoo Initiative's Primary Comms Officer, someone will tell me when you need me to dig a bit deeper, but otherwise I just do the job. Easy enough, and you hired a Reporter to handle it. Makes sense" She flicks her eyes back toward the door, then back to Kurrnak, "I do hope they had the proper clearance to know about what I do in the RDF, or there might be some trouble." A flicker of a smile.

"If I have everything right, then yes - please provide me a dossier on the planet along with the important facets you want me to dig into. Now if there was nothing else? I'll need to write up a report for my handler at the RDF of the meeting."

Athena (159) has posed:
Kurrnak nods. "I'll do that by the end of the day," the Mon Calamari says, suddenly looking exhausted. "Thank you, and we'll speak soon." He gets up to shake her hand. "I've got to run, I'm already late to my next meeting. It was nice meeting you, Syralana." And with that, he heads out of the room.

If she follows suit, she'll eventually find herself at the end of a hallway in front of a lift and an office directory. Standing in front of the office directory is a young Zeltron man, with pierced ears and black hair that has an obnoxiously bright white streak running perpendicular to his part. He seems to be looking for something the can't find...

Syralana (431) has posed:
Of course she shook his hand, and then nodded, "And don't worry about the comm. Like I said, this is... messy. But I'll be having talk with my Superiors along with writing that report." Her lips form a thin line, looking a slight bit annoyed before she shrugs, "I look forward to helping you with this job."

Even as she's stepping out she's pulling out her datapad. Writing up a rather scathing note to her handler about being blind-sided, not appreciating that they sent her an official message for what should've been a meeting with her as a reporter. Adding that the report will follow by EOD.

She's just finishing typing up the message and pressing send, when she finds herself nearly running into the Zeltron man. Taking a half-step back, she tilts her head, watching him. "Hello. Something you're looking for? If it's an obnoxious member of the CSF, then you just missed them."

Athena (159) has posed:
The young Zeltron man doesn't notice her right away, but when she starts speaking, he cusses quietly and whirls on her, wide eyed snd startled.

"Ah... not really," he says running a hand through his hair. "Was looking for a certain office number, but it looks like its unlisted." He sighs.

Syralana (431) has posed:
There's a slow nod from the Echani and she reaches up to push back some hair behind her ear, "Oh-h-h." She says, giving a slow nod and looking toward the graphic on the wall as well, then back to the Zeltron man. "So, you're in a Republic building-" then gestures toward the wall, "-looking for an office that doesn't exist?" She gives it a few long moment as she starts to raise her datapad again.
"Wh-h-h-hy don't you tell me all about it?"

Navi has posed:
The turbolift doors open, and a rather petite young woman with long blonde hair and dressed in a tan robe edged in gold synthfabric steps out. She freezes at the sight of the Zeltron man, blinking suddenly huge blue eyes several times before her brain catches up with her sense of recognition.

"Geez... sorry. I was hoping to run into you, but not /literally/," she says hastily. "Did you find Xera Graf and Taryn San Tekka?"

Right about then she notices the tall Echani. "Oh! Hello. Sorry, didn't see you there. You wouldn't happen to be connected with the Tenoo Colony Initiative, would you?" she asks, blushing faintly.

Athena (159) has posed:
"Uh." The Zeltron man bites his lip thoughtfully. "See, thats the thing. I cant, actually. I wish--" But then Navi pops out of the lift, and the Zeltron man pales a little. "Navi?!" then he sighs, looking tired and embarrassed. "I thought I asked you to drop it."

When she notices the tall Echani woman and blushes, his expression sours slightly.

Syralana (431) has posed:
Syra's eyes flick to the newcomer, a Sephi if she had to guess but that was a bit of a wild guess. "Hello. Why yes, I'm the Primary Comms Officer for the Tenoo Initiative. Which, let me tell you, bit of an step up. Steady paychecks? Yes please!" She gives a flash of a smile, "Syralana, I'm a reporter by trade. Guess that's how I got the job. But - uh-" She looks back to the Zeltron, "-Navi," she looks back to Navi, "I'll leave you to your friend here. I hope you find Xera Graf and Taryn San Tekka." Her fingers are tapping on the datapad, probably taking notes.

Navi has posed:
"I see. It was nice to meet you, Syralana. Good luck," Navi replies to Syralana. As the Echani withdraws from the conversation, she looks back to Vons, the Zeltron.

"Sorry... if I'd seen her before I opened my big mouth, I wouldn't have asked about them. And I /can't/ drop it. I have a bad feeling about this initiative. A /very/ bad feeling, the kind that makes it so you can't sleep. And I know they're tied into it somehow, or at least Xera is. I don't much like Taryn, but he /is/ the San Tekka rep, and I don't want that manipulative witch dragging him and the San Tekkas down with her." Something in her eyes suggests a deep pain behind her anger at Xera Graf.

Athena (159) has posed:
When Syra introduces herself, the Zeltron man's brows furrow slightly, his expression pensive. "Primary comms officer, I see," he says. He watches her go, his expression still thoughtful.

"Navi, please... just..." he sighs again. "You're not stupid. I'm sure you're acutely aware of what might happen to you if she finds out you're trying to dig around in her business. Just let me handle this, okay? If it makes you feel any better, I don't have any solid leads as of yet. She might not be planning anything. Not yet, anyway." He frowns when he notices the deep pain in her expression. "Hey... is there something you wanna tell me? About the Grafs?"

Navi has posed:
"I don't know... I don't know how to explain it," Navi replies, frustrated by her own feelings. "Xera Graf is... well, I guess the best word to describe her is spellbinding. She dominates any room she's in once she speaks. You want to like her. And you especially want her to like you. But I've just recently seen more twisted sides to her, too. The manipulative, ruthlessly selfish kinds of twisted sides. I think she might be capable of just about anything." She can't force back a shudder as she speaks. "And I think she's been trying to manipulate me. She seems to want me on this trip, but I don't know why. I just know she was nothing like happy when I suggested I wasn't interested in going back to the Outer Rim. But before I said that, she was perfectly happy to see me. It was like watching someone turn a light on and off."

Athena (159) has posed:
Vons brows furrow slightly as he listens to Navi speak about Xera. "This can't have been the first time you met her, then," he says. "And she must know the effect she's having on you. Where did you meet her?"

Navi has posed:
"Canto Bight. Twice," Navi replies sadly. "Possibly another place or two, but I can't remember right now. But I doubt I'm the only person she's manipulating. Right now. And I know she's desperate to put the scandal of that lost starship behind her, but I don't know if that plays into this, or how it might."

Athena (159) has posed:
Vons frowns. "I don't think her family would have decided to sponsor the initiative so heavily unless they were trying to redeem themselves in the public's eyes." He pauses. "What did she say or do to you the first time you met her on Canto Bight?"

Navi has posed:
"I don't remember everything... I mostly remember that she was extremely nice to me. I think she offered to cover any losses I suffered on the casino floor for that night," Navi explains. "I know she was a lot nicer than most of the other gamblers present. I think they would've been a lot happier if I hadn't been there. I also remember that we only spoke fairly briefly before she was off to do something else. I always got the impression that she was very busy. But I think she was making nice with this absolutely huge Mandalorian man who was there that night."

Athena (159) has posed:
"And then what happened? All of a sudden she turned on a chit? At what point did you feel like she was just manipulating you to some greater end?" he muses aloud, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

Navi has posed:
"Only recently, when Padawan Alexis and I met her some weeks ago. That was when we found out about the colony initiative, and that we seemed to be expected to go along, from the Chancellor himself, no less. She was one of the dignitaties who was with him at the time," Navi says. "When I expressed reluctance to get involved, she moved in closer and we started talking, almost right after the Chancellor stepped away. She was nice enough for a few minutes, but she got mad and insulting quick when I kept asking about plans for the colony and mentioning my misgivings about the whole thing. When that didn't work, she moved off to talk to other people."

Athena (159) has posed:
Vons nods slowly, his expression becoming even more pensive. "Interesting," he murmurs.

Then he turns to her, giving her a compassionate look and reaching over to stroke her upper arm gently. "I'll get to the bottom of this, I promise. But please, for my sake and yours, step aside, okay? You've been through enough with her already."

Navi has posed:
"I'll try to. But I don't think the Force will let me. It's not good at listening to me when I say I want out," Navi replies, bowing her head. "It's got a habit of pulling me back in no matter what. Like how I wanted nothing to do with this mess, and suddenly I find out that most of the people I care about are going. It's disturbing."

Athena (159) has posed:
He chuckles and taking both her hands, squeezes them gently. "Mm, right, the Force. Alright, fine. But you have to promise me you'll do your damnedest to not get involved, okay?"

"And be careful. If she approaches you wanting some kind of favor, you have tell me right away."

Navi has posed:
"I can make that promise, at least. Just remember, I'm already going on this trip. I can't back out. Not with most of the people I care about going along. Including you. It's quite a mess we're in, isn't it?" Navi asks softly, shaking her head. "And you'll be the first person I tell. The think I worry about is that she won't say she wants something. Not until it's too late to get away, anyway."

Syralana (431) has posed:
Syralana comes back into view after having gone around the corner for a bit to compose a report. Shooting off to her superiors the meeting along with it Kurrnak, Mondrian and Veena. Making it a note that she wasn't sure of their clearance levels and to double check that they should know of Syra's actual job considering she was blindsided with this to begin with. A follow up to request communication procedures as an exit strategy, and finally that she accepted the job through her cover.

All of that and a few choice words about Mondrian who probably needs to be added to some sort of local watch list considering his very lax approach to the security of personnel and mission objectives. Including a quote how he feels proper planning is only required for those who are spoiled children. She's tapping send then a few other commands on the datapad, clearing it out and changing it to look like any other.

"Oh!" She looks up, seeing Navi and the Zeltron, "Uh... no luck finding the hidden room?" The corner of her mouth ticks up with a bit of amusement.

Athena (159) has posed:
"And I'm honestly glad you are," he says sincerely. "Just don't dig yourself in too deep, alright? I'd hate for you to get hurt, and not just in the physical sense." When she says he's one of the people she cares about, he seems to lose himself entirely staring into her eyes. "That's okay, just do your best to tell me as soon possible and I'll figure out the rest. I promise," he says softly. Then Syralana appears and reminds him that he was in fact, looking for a room not on the directory. "No, but... I think I have an idea of where to look next." He then turns to Navi, looking reluctant to leave her. "Look, I uh -- have to go. But dont be a stranger, and I'll see you soon on the Legacy II," he says, heading into the lift when it arrives.

Navi has posed:
"Be careful. You helped me when nobody else could. I don't want to hear about you being found dead somewhere," Navi replies, blushing faintly as she realizes he's staring into her eyes. She has no idea how to take that, but manages to wave wistfully as he steps into the turbolift.

She steps clear of the lift, looking to Syralana. "I'm Navi, of the Shining Brotherhood," she says, in a more formal introduction. "Nice to meet you, but I wish it was under better circumstances. I'm worried about this colony initiative not working out. I've had a bad feeling ever since I learned about it."

Syralana (431) has posed:
Well, that's tapped out in shorthand onto her datapad, that is, before she offers her own hand in response. "Syralana, Reporter but just recently hired to be Primary Comms Officer for the Initiative." She gives a flicker of a smile and arches her eyebrows, "So, The Shining Brotherhood? What exactly is that, sounds a bit like a -- organization with interesting ideals."

"And why are you worried about the initiative? If I'm being honest, I've only heard what's going on in the news with it so far, and it doesn't sound terrible. What's your take?"

Navi has posed:
"We're a religious order based on Jedha, but we have a chapterhouse on Coruscant," Navi replies. "We do charitable works while we try to study the mysteries of the Force. I'm not sure how much progress we've made on that second one, but we're doing okay with the first."

"As for the initiative, there's something about it that feels, well, rushed. Some parts of it feel badly planned, and others... well, they knew who they wanted for many of the roles before they even asked those same people if they even wanted to go, for example. I was one of those people, assigned to act as an assistant to Jedi Master Windu in a medical research facility that might or might not get set up. As of now, I don't even know if Master Windu will agree to go."

Syralana (431) has posed:
There's yet more tapping on the datapad as Navi keeps talking about her order and then her thoughts on the initiative. Syra keeps looking up as frequently as she can, nodding her head a little. "Oh I see. Okay, interesting. You're part of a Force-using religious order, and you were requested for this position?" More tapping, "I see. So you aren't even sure if the medical research facility will be built?"

That definitely make Syralana's eyebrows creep up, a little nod of her head, "Yeah, I can understand how that would feel... difficult at best. If I'm being honest, I think I ran into a couple people going along and I can't say that I particularly think they'll be the - shall we say - cooperative sort. But I'll hold my judgement on them for now. I wouldn't want to cause problems for them if it just turns out they have no people skills."

Navi has posed:
"Well... I think I was selected because I have friends in the Jedi Order, and we've done good works for the Republic fairly recently. Heroic sort of stuff if you read about it, but terrifying if you lived through it," Navi replies softly. "Many of those Jedi have been asked to come along in what may be important roles. As for the medical facility, it's one of the secondary goals of the initiative, right up there with setting up a Jedi temple. The big goal is setting up the colony."

Syralana (431) has posed:
A few more nods, "I see. Okay, friends of the Jedi. That makes sense." There's a short pause as she looks over the name again, Navi, okay. She stores that away for later before looking back up at Navi with a flash of a smile across the Echani's features. "I think that's true of most things that aren't... standard. Living life toward the edges of society, and you tend to find things are are more often terrifying."

Syralana finally tucks the datapad away, and looks more interested at Navi. Her head nodding a few times, "I mean, it's not like I was always a reporter, ya know?" She grins, "But, that is a bit disconcerting. If it's one of the goals, even a secondary goal, I would think it should still be confirmed. Tell me more?"

Navi has posed:
"I think it /is/ confirmed, honestly. I just don't know if it will happen. One of the tenets for this colony is that it will be entirely self-sufficient, or at least it won't be dependent on importing necessary supplies to survive," Navi explains. "And I'm wondering just how they plan to do that if that doesn't work.
