Welona, 3rd Zhellday, Fourth Day of the Festival of Balance, 300BBY
- Athena (159) has posed:
Despite the Festival of Balance being in full swing, there is a tension of air in the Holy City.
There's been news of a string of murders having taken place in the past few days, along with reports of one of the Convocation's own consorting with the masked marauders who are suspected to have been connected to the recent murders.
Consequently, not long after Shiren had submitted his findings to the Kel Dor Jedi Sentinel Volk, the Master had summoned the blind Matukai man to the Temple of the Kyber to discuss a plan of action. Nothing had been proven yet, and thus far, no one aside from Shiren had had a chance to confront Tomi about his... irregular behavior.
Likewise, Gethun had asked Navi to come the Temple as well, to speak to him about her experiences over the past couple of days...
- Shiren has posed:
Shiren hasn't exactly been a very 'public' figure, after their findings. Taking on the mantle of the Matukai representative on the Convocation Council perhaps should be something that brings with itself a more outwardly present, but Shiren has shirked that expectation.
Instead, they've been what they normally are: a presence most shy away from. Lacking a left arm, and blindfolded, many might simply avoid them for said appearance alone - due to the social discomfort they represent outwardly. Yet, as they move up the steps of the Kyber Temple once more, they don't seem to carry themselves with the kind of confusion a blind man might.
Wan-Shen peace-wrapped with a greying cloth, the Miralukan proceeds foward until they reach the gates, and halts there for a moment. Tilting their head to the side and seemingly 'looking' for something.
- Navi has posed:
After the two days she's had, Navi has no intention of keeping Gethun waiting. In the wake of her ordeal, she had returned to the Shining Brotherhood chapterhouse to rest (briefly), clean up, and don fresh clothes. Now, with her medical satchel and retractable staff slung across her body and out of her way, she makes her way to the Temple of the Kyber, where her ordeal began.
She finds herself at the gate, beside a taller man with one arm and his eyes masked, an unfamiliar weapon wrapped in cloth at his back. Bowing from the shoulders, she asks, "May I be of any assistance, honored elder?"
- Varric Sov has posed:
The Knight-Padawan pairing of Varric and Imoen are walking into the Temple of the Kyber once again. But this time? Varric and Imoen are coming from the caves. It seems as though Varric's lessons lasted a little longer than intended, at least in the sense of finding the young Padawan a new crystal for a new lightsaber. The pair were discussing designs as they emerged.
"...and so, I think that longer, ptoentially staff-like design would work well for you. You could figure it like a spear of sorts, though if we do that, we'll need to improve your close-range fighting techniques and find a suitably strong material for your blade."
Varric's eyes lift to Navi for a moment, a small smile forming on his features, though he's noticing Shiren looking around for something, but he shan't distract the man. Instead, he approaches Navi and Gethun with Imoen in tow.
"Hello there." He greets the gathering with a little bit of a smile. "I trust you are well, honored elder-" He smiles at Navi. "Navi. Always a pleasure to see you again."
- Imoen has posed:
A thoughtful expression on her brow, Imoen listens intently to her Master's advice, all while apparently cradling something in her hands. It's initially hard to see at first, but when light catches on its many edges, it's clear to be seen as a Kyber crystal. She carries it tenderly, walking purposefully so as not to trip or bump into anything, treating it as though made of delicate glasswork. She's garbed in one of her usual outfits of a split khaki tabard over a white tunic, with a brown obi, black leggings, wrap-around brown boots, and a splash of red from the handbag cross-strapped against her hip.
"That's a great idea, Master Sov. It'll have reach as well as flexibility, and reminiscent of the Jedi Temple guards." Just in time for her blue gaze to catch sight of Navi's retractable staff, she grins broadly, "plus, I can more easily spar on equal terms with my friend." Arriving with Varric, she bumps shoulders with the Sephi, before bowing respectfully towards Gethun.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Gethun smiles politely at all four of them, bowing slightly to each one of them in turn. "Greetings... I don't think I've met any of you," he says, "except for Navi."
He turns to the Sephi girl. "So you were discharged? I assume the real perpetrator is currently being searched for? You must tell us everything that happened."
Just as they are exchanging greetings, Master Volk emerges from the lift, looking harried. "Varric!" he barks in relief. "Thank the Force. I've been looking for you all day. I can't seem to get in contact with any of the other Jedi purportedly here for the Festival," he huffs, "and we have -much- to discuss." He then turns to Shiren. "Ah, thank you for coming on such short notice. I reviewed everything you reported, and while myself and numerous others have been trying to get in touch with Tomi, he has made himself -scarce-..." Then he notices Imoen. "Oh, Imoen, pardon my manners. It's good to see you. Varric said you were on your own the first day of the festival. How was it?"
- Shiren has posed:
There's a shift of Shiren's head as Navi begins to approach. They consider her as she comes to the gates with them. And when she finally bows to them and addresses them as honored elder, they let out a thoughtful hum in answer at first.
They can tell this one belongs here at this temple. Though they cannot discern what part in it all she plays. "I require no assistance. I await Master Volk." He answers her patiently.
their head then turns, almost like spotting something from the periphery if their gaze. Except, you know, blindfold and all that. "Master Jedi." They refer to Varric before they have completed their full turn. There's a bow from Shiren this time, touching a hand to his tummy for a moment. "I see you come with Padawan this this." He add.
Before listening to Imoen and falling quiet again. It is not their job to speak of such things to a Padawan, so instead they turn to Gethrun, and answers in a fairly straight-to-the-point tone; "You may refer to me as Shiren." Before finally, the one they seek gets nearby. Looking towards Volk as they approach.
There's a long nod from him.
"This does not surprise me. I was spotted after all. And no doubt, his allies warned him of me seeing them as well."
- Navi has posed:
"I see... and I await Master Gethun," Navi replies softly to Shiren, bowing her head briefly. "I am Navi, a Novice of the Shining Brotherhood. Whose honored company do I share in waiting?" she asks, smiling warmly.
She bumps shoulders with Imoen, then bows to Varric and Gethun. "Master Varric, Master Gethun, dear Imoen. It's good to see you again. It looks like the great crystal hunt has ended to your satisfaction?" she says, the last to Imoen, noting the crystal she cradles with such care. "It has been quite a long week, Master Gethun... and it's barely begun. The matter of my innocence is plain enough, but the matter of the criminal is much more complex. And strange, and disconcerting. It seems I share a strange connection to him through the Force. I have no idea how to deal with that, especially because he may be manipulating me through this connection."
- Varric Sov has posed:
"I try to have good ones every now and again. Though yes, the Temple GUards use a similar style. I'm certain young Navi would appreciate a good spar with you." He chuckles, though he turns his attention to Gethun for a moment. "Ah, sorry about that. I'm-"
Varric looks like he's about to introduce himself and his padawan before his attention is forcibly shifting towards Master Volk. "Master Volk? Are you alright?" He turns his body to face him, though he's told the pair of them ahve much to discuss. "Cna't contact the other Jedi? Because they are not onworld or simply not answering their communications?" Varric asks of Volk with slight concern on his features. Though he steps aside so the Master can talk to Shiren for a moment, and he smiles as Master Volk introduces himself to Imoen. "Imoen, this is Master Volk. An old friend of mine who's prowess with a lightsaber encouraged me to perfect my own."
Thoug hhe settles his gaze on Shiren for a moment, a bow given to the Matukai. "A pleasure to see you again as well. Yes, this is my Padawan, Imoen." He gesutres to the young woman.
To Navi, he smiles. "It seems to be so. At least, in Imoen's point of view." He smiles in pride that his padawan was able to find a new crystal."
- Imoen has posed:
"Discharged?" Imoen blinks in surprise and curiosity at Navi, though her lips quirk as she asides, "sounds like we have a lot of catching up to do." To Gethun, she nods and replies, "indeed, honored elder. I am Imoen, and this is Varric, my Master. This is Navi, and well, I don't know you, erm..." She gestures to Shiren, only to end up distracted by the arrival of another. She bows even more respectfully to the Convocation member after Varric's introduction, "greetings, Master Volk. Mmmm, my first day." She thinks back on it, "it was fun. I met enough people that I doubt I'd remember all their names if you quizzed me. I even met a Sorcerer of Tund and...well..." She shrugs, losing some of her passion, "it was...fun." She looks away from Varric, in the 'there's something I'm not saying' sort of way. Then she hears a name. "Wait, Tomi? As in Akashaya Tomi?"
Pouncing on the opportunity for a distraction, she beams at Navi and holds aloft her Kyber crystal. It's heavily cracked, sure, but it's still a Kyber crystal, spherical and prismatic under the right light, and otherworldly in its enigmatic beauty. In a proud voice, she declares, "the crystal tested me, but I prevailed. Isn't it pretty? After discussing with my Master, I was thinking I might take a page from your book and install it into some kind of collapsing staff?"
There's that bemused blink again. "Innocence? Navi, what sorts of fun did you get into without me?"
- Athena (159) has posed:
Volk nods politely in acknowledgement to Imoen's greeting. "Well, I've only tried to reach the ones here in Jedha. But the sandstorm earlier made any transmissions rather patchy," Volk says with a sigh.
"Varric you really must stop calling me Master," the Kel Dor Master grumbles slightly. "You know full well I am not one for titles." Then he turns to Shiren, nodding slightly. "True," he concedes. "We must find him and bring him before the Convocation, Shiren. This matter cannot be taken lightly -- especially given his ... prior reputation."
Gethun smiles at Imoen. "Indeed. The pleasure is mine as well, Imoen. Glad you made to the festival." Then he nods at Navi. "Yes, and I'm glad you were discharged," he says. Then he frowns. "A connection, you say? Well then you should know whether he is guilty or innocent, right?"
Volk then gives Navi an incredulous look. "Manipulating you through the Force?" he says, sounding shocked. "What do you mean by that? Through... deception? I-Impossible. That is a technique used most frequently by ... skilled dark siders. Certainly, a Nihil marauder," he says, glancing over at Shiren, "would not be trained in such dark arts?"
But their conversation is suddenly interrupted, as the Master Akashaya Tomi himself enters the Temple.
"Tomi!" Volk thunders. "Where have you been? As I'm sure you already know, Shiren has reported to me your clear association with the masked marauders wanted for murder, who are running rampant in the Holy City."
- Shiren has posed:
Shiren doesn't move their head when Navi spears of being a Novice of the Shining Brotherhood, and lets their announcement to Gethun stand as their introduction to Navi as well. They're a Miralukan of few words, it would seem. Similarly, Imoen gets naught but a nod at her mention of them.
However, at mention of a Sorcerer of Tund, their interest rises for a moment. "An Arkanian?" He inquires with Imoen, while Volk is still explaining matters and showing his shock at Navi's revalation. He doesn't speak on the matter of the Nihil marauders, but there's finally a proper crease in his brow as they are spoken of. The use of a dark force ability by marauders seems most... strange.
"Master Volk..." Shiren remarks, only for Tomi to enter, and Shiren's coming comment to be cut off by silence once more, turning to face the man in question. Wondering how Tomi will retort on such a matter.
- Navi has posed:
"It's beautiful, Imoen. I'm glad you were able to find such a lovely crystal," Navi replies, with a smile for both the Firrerreo Padawan and her Master. She shakes her head at Imoen's question. "Fun is not the word I'd use. The only upside is that I've made some new and good friends. I'll tell you about them later."
She looks to Master Volk. "I just don't know, Master... I don't know nearly enough about telepathy and other forms of communication through the mind to be sure of anything. I only know that in spite of witnessing him attempt to murder at least one person, and possibly attempting to frame me for several murders, I cannot believe him guilty of some of the crimes he may have committed. At the very least, he has my sympathy," she explains. "And I do not know if he can lie to me through the Force. But I can confirm he is a Nihil marauder... or, if nothing else, he wears a mask much like theirs. He is known around Jedha as Zealot, and he was one of the two we caught inside the Temple of the Kyber, who were brought in with superficial wounds, and likely under false pretenses."
- Varric Sov has posed:
"When the title loses it's meaning will I cease calling you Master, Volk." Varric starts to laugh a little bit in good nature, though he smirks ever faintly as the Kel Dor Master grumbles ever so softly. But, he narrows his eyes ever so softly. "Strange....how all of this is timed. This must've been planned far in advance. If we cannot communicate with the other Jedi, it's entirely possible that another murder may yet take place." Though he turns his attention to Imoen.
"You know Akashaya Tomi?" Varric questions for a moment, though his eyes suddenly turn once more to Volk and Navi as manipulations through the Force and deceptions are made clear. "...unless of course, they deviated." Varric remarks with narrowed eyes, though Master Akashaya Tomi himself arrives, and with the association clearly laid out before the assembled Force Sensitives. Varric takes a moment to extend an arm in front of Imoen, just in case she had a thought to get involved.
Varric keeps his hand near his lightsaber, ready to interfere should the need arise.
"I see." Varric remarks to Navi. "Thank you for your information." Yet he awaits for Tomi to speak whether true or false to the accusations presented to him.
- Imoen has posed:
Imoen glances between Volk and Gethun and the rest of those more knowledgeable about the current predicament - including Navi, as it would seem! She nods towards Shiren, confirming his inquiry. To Navi, she hooks an arm around the Sephi's arm and smirks, "I fully expect you to spill all the details as soon as we have the time. Mayhaps we might even spar? I don't have the design hammered down quite yet, but I'd like to get the feel for a staff before I install the crystal." Speaking of the sparkly Kyber gem, she stashes it in her handbag, wrapping it gingerly in some soft cloth before zippering the container shut. When the Sorcerer of Tund himself appears however, she looks over at him, but her expression darkens. There's sorrow, hope, and perhaps even a hint of betrayal in her expression. "M-master Tomi? You are associated with...with killers?" A hand rises to her chest, sadness and regret in her blue gaze. There's something there, beneath her tunic, to those with keen eyes. "This must all be a misunderstanding. Like it is with Navi." She chuckles nervously, "you wouldn't work with criminals like, what, the Nihil? Would you?" She shakes her head, "you're a healer, not a..." She swallows, "you're a healer..." Her words trail off hopefully, though there's a tension in her gut that runs counter to her hope.
Varric breaks up her thoughts with that question of their acquaintance, though she presently seems content to keep the Arkanian at a distance. She runs a hand through her hair, glancing aside. "He sort of...gave me a tour of the city during that first day. So, mostly not so much on my own." She laughs self-consciously again, though the mirth dies quickly in discomfort.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Oh please," Volk mutters. "You have beat me plenty of times," he says, wagging a finger at Varric.
Then Volk nods at Navi. "It's alright, I hardly expect you to know much about it. Even the Jedi have their limits regarding knowledge about this matter, as it is... often associated with the dark side," he adds. Both he and Gethun listen earnestly when Navi says she has a hard time finding Zealot guilty.
"It is possible to lie to someone through the Force," Gethun says, brows furrowing slightly. "In fact--" But then he is cut off when Tomi enters the Temple of the Kyber.
The Arkanian Sorcerer of Tund frowns, glancing briefly over at Shiren, his expression slightly sour. "And you would believe what this Matukai man has to say above my own testimony?" the Tund Sorcerer says dryly to Volk. "I've been on the Convocation for years, but as soon as this newcomer arrives, you believe what he has to say without a second thought? Seems a bit.. un-Jedi like to me." Then he notices Imoen and his expression softens. He gives her a small smile. "Ah, a familiar face is always welcome. I hope you've been enjoying the Festival, Imoen, and thinking little of these accusations being thrown at me. Of course, I would never associate so closely with murderers. You know me -- surely, you understand."
- Shiren has posed:
"A healer with a distinct interest in the Dark Side." Shiren adds on for Imoen's sake. Though the Convocation has been more loose on such matters, they had lost the previous Matukai Master because of their 'looser' permission of research into such matters.
Unlike Varric, they do not move to grab their weapon. In fact, they expected this type of response. "I will submit myself to a Mind Trick of they wish to know truth of what I saw." Shiren answers the Sorcerer of Tund. "I am sure that, if this is just a misunderstanding, you would permit the same." He proposes to Tomi.
- Navi has posed:
"Thank you for understanding, Master Volk, Master Gethun. I will try to keep my head clearer if I encounter this Zealot again. He has much to answer for," Navi replies softly. She gently takes Imoen's nearer hand, squeezing it in a gesture of solidarity. She watches the Sorcerer of Tund interact with Shiren, and then with Imoen, and bites her lip.
"But Master Tomi... aren't you asking Imoen to do just what you've accused the Masters here of doing? Putting her faith in someone she only barely knows, versus her own Master, and Masters he has known for years?" she asks. "Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but that /is/ what it sounds like."
- Varric Sov has posed:
"I believe the record is 134-135, your favor." A low chuckle to the Kel Dor master, though his attention is ever forward. With Gethun's admittance that it's possible to lie through the force, Varric nods. "It is." Quite possible. Varric seems to wait for a moment.
He doesn't quite take his weapon off of it's clip, nor does he seem to actually /touch/ his lightsaber. But he watches Tomi carefully. Though as the Sorceror of Tund beseeches Imoen to speak well on his behalf, Varric doesn't look at his Padawan but he listens to Imoen all the same. "I understand, Imoen. That being said...exercise wisdom." He won't tell his Padawan what to do. Though Shiren and Navi both make valid points. Shiren suggests mental techniques to determine the truth. Navi suggests the same kind of deception is being used and addresses Tomi as what he appears: a hypocrite.
"Even among the Jedi, we know that old heads can turn towards dark paths where new eyes can see the light." Varric remarks to Tomi then in his accusation of Volk being un-Jedi like. "I recommend truth in this matter."
- Imoen has posed:
"I have." Imoen answers both of Tomi's questions leveled in her direction with those two words. "I have not spoken as deeply as I hoped with my Master and others on the subject, as I had intended." She allows a brief pause. "I...know you as much as someone can know a person in half a day of conversation. But I don't really know you." She looks away, "if accusations are being made, I..." Her attention refocuses on Volk and Varric, considering her words upon hearing her Master's own wisdom, "he saved the life of a dying Pantoran in my presence." Again, there's that expression that she's not saying everything. Giving the name of the restaurant where the Pantoran collapsed, she states, "there were plenty of witnesses that can attest to that act, at least."
She doesn't seem as surprised as she perhaps should be to hear about Shiren's remark on the Dark Side, expression growing troubled. She relaxes a bit when Navi squeezes her hand, breathing out a small sigh and forcing a thin smile for her friend's compassion and insight. There's a flicker of surprised appreciation in her eyes. She had not thought of the hypocrisy. Buoyed by the Sephie's encouragement, she settles her gaze on the Arkanian, her shoulders lifting with some measure of bravery. Maybe she can persuade him to cooperate, at least? "There must be a reason you're specifically under such scrutiny. At least explain your connection to this Zealot?"
- Athena (159) has posed:
Tomi's eyes narrow at Shiren and Varric. "That is a bit of a hyperbole," he says, "and distinct is a bit too strong of a word to use, and I am level headed. Being such a great Jedi, surely, wouldn't you know if I had turned?" he says, lifting a chin at the two of them.
"The Matukai saw Zealot in the vicinity, and assumed association by proximity. There is no evidence to prove that his presumption is true," he says to Imoen. "I appreciate you immensely, Imoen, and your ability to see truth and wisdom without bias where even your Master cannot. You are a bright young apprentice, and I firmly believe the Force wills much for you."
Volk sighs. "I am not skilled enough in telepathy to ascertain these things," he says, shaking his head. "Especially when I am certainly both of you would be able to resist to some degree. No, what this situation requires is for Tomi to be brought before the Convocation, and a thorough interrogation and investigation shall be conducted within the meeting chamber. Do you agree to this, Master Tomi?"
Tomi starts walking towards the Kyber Mines, a soft smile spreading across his features. "What choice do I have?" he says, his expression suddenly becoming sad. "If the Convocation wishes to make me into a villain after all I have done, what say do I have in the matter?"
"And -you- have placed -your- faith in the innocence of a man you hardly know, who, furthermore, is also wanted for murder," he says to Navi calmly. "I do not ask anything of Imoen. Only that she consider all things, before jumping to any sort of conclusion." He then disappears into Mines, making no further comment.
Volk sighs, looking a bit distressed. "The Convocation is scheduled for a session later today," he says, "and Tomi is aware. He will show, and we will discuss the matter then, or..." he shakes his head, seeming to not want consider the alternative.
- Shiren has posed:
Shiren doesn't seem to respond, or realize, Tomi's eyes have turned to narrow slits when gazing at them. They do not answer, simply waiting for Tomi to speak. In a ways, Shiren wishes for this all to be a misunderstanding. For the Convocation now to be the mess it appears to be from the outside. Especially when Volk indicates they have not refined their skills with telepathy enough yet to properly ascertain the Truth.
Yet, the fact that Tomi smiles has something that doesn't sit right with Shiren. Perhaps they are being blindsided however, by the hope that they are wrong about all of this.
- Navi has posed:
"I have, Master. I have also freely admitted my concerns as to my feelings on this person, and asked the advice of those wiser than I," Navi replies, her tone almost as sad as it is even. "The merits of your comparison are open to question. Do not mistake my questions for accusations. I would much rather be wrong than think any member of this Council is in any way corrupt." She squeezes Imoen's hand again, as much seeking reassurance as giving it.
- Varric Sov has posed:
"I have assumed nothing, Master Tomi."
Varric remarks to him. "And I would greatly prefer if you did not attempt to sway my Padawan's opinion with praise." He requests of Tomi, though for a moment, the world turns to black as Varric attempts to breach Tomi's mind for some measure of asserting the truth. But the man's defenses are too strong. "I cannot determine if any truth is being told or not of him." Varric remarks. "But regardless, an investigation must be made if such an accusation is made in turn."
He watches as Tomi disappears into the mines.
A small sigh. "The matter will be discussed with the Convocation. But it seems Tomi is a healer and a good one, by my Padawan's admission. But oftne times is the path of darkness laid with good intentions." He shakes his head ever so softly.
"But he smiles much. He seems at least confident in his innocence, by my guess." He turns his attention to Navi. "Wisely said." He nods his approval to Imoen. "You did well to carefully ask your questions. Always seek the entirety of the truth."
- Imoen has posed:
Imoen frowns and shifts uneasily from Tomi's compliments, made more discomfiting by the needle at her Master's implicit lack of wisdom. That said, she bristles a bit at Volk's aggressive stance for interrogation. She seems like she wants to say something, even going so far as to raise a hand in a gesture to keep the Arkanian from fleeing - but he departs almost as quickly as he arrived. She lowers her hand. When Navi squeezes the other, she gives an encouraging and grateful shoulder bump. Placing the Matukai under her scrunity in Tomi's stead, she asks meekly, "is there some truth in what he says, honored elder? If you would allow me to learn what suggested his accountability to these crimes?" She seems pleased by Varric's approval, offering a humble, "I only earn my wisdom through experience and the wisdom of others, Master." With some hesitation, she admits, "he had a concerning tendency to deflect or answer carefully, but caution doesn't necessarily mean guilt. And he was charming and generous and kind during my first day here. I hope he is found innocent, but I will strive not to let that hope sway me."
- Shiren has posed:
Shiren 'watches' Tomi flee, and slowly turns their head as they feel stared at. "I do not know what was being spoken of." He answers in earnest. "I too hope he is innocent. But their behavior has been... concerning. The first thing that man did when we met, was to ask if I too distrusted the Jedi and the information they 'hid'. And seemed rather disappointed with me cautioning him around matters of the Dark Side." Shiren explains.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The meeting between the six of them then adjourns, and Gethun, Shiren, Navi, Varric and Imoen are free to do as they please until the time of the Convocation's session.
But when the clock chimes at the hour and the time for the session has come, Tomi is nowhere to be found.
The five of them are then quickly re-summoned to the Temple of the Kyber by Master Volk, who meets them at the top of the stairs in front of the Temple. "Have any of you seen Tomi since this afternoon?" Volk asks, his energy in the Force palpably nervous.
Gethun frowns. "No... but earlier Akiren had mentioned to me that she over heard him arranging to meet with a certain Je'uun Tarsis, yet another potential relic collector that the Guardians could work with to add to the vault's collection."
- Shiren has posed:
Shiren, being part of the Convocation now, is within the Convocation chambers as the clock ticks away. They are there to be witness after all. The truth must be revealed. But as such, they are rather directly witness to the lack of presence of Tomi. So they walk with Master Volk directly as the others are summoned to join in.
"I have seen him no more than you have, I fear, Master Volk." Shiren proposes to Volk, listening as Gethun speaks up.
"Again, a concerning interest in the Vault's collection." He brings up. "I do not wish to theorize. But Tomi does appear to bear interest in that place."
- Navi has posed:
Navi uses the time after the adjournment to tell Master Gethun about the last two days, and her own actions during that time. She leaves nothing out, even though some of the details are emotionally-charged for her. Exhausted from the last two days or so, she spends the rest of the time in meditation in one of the Temple's meditation cells, trying to clear and calm her mind.
As such, she's not hard to find when the summonation goes out, and hurries to find the others. "I have not, Master. I've no idea if he ever came out of the mines. Has anyone checked to see if he has been in the vaults?" she asks, when the vaults are brought up by Master Shiren. "Zealot and his companion in crime were suspected of entering the Temple to scout the vaults... although it's possible they were there to meet with Master Tomi instead. I just don't know enough to do more than guess. But the Hoopaloo who came in with Zealot spoke of an appointment with a collector when they tricked their way out of the Temple before."
- Varric Sov has posed:
"Hmmmm....."
Is all Varric seems to mention. Though as time is their own, Varric turns to Imoen and gestures for her to follow. "Come. Let us kill time. I believe you had mentioend you'd seen quite a few artifacts of history and import, perhaps you could explain a few of them to me?" Varric suggests to his student, taking interest in her interests and wanting to learn more about how she opeartes. Moaster-Padawan bonding time is a beautiful thing.
But eventually, all things must come to an end.
When it's time to be summoned all over again, Varric leads Imoen back to the gathering, looking at Volk as the Master seems noticeably nervous. "I haven't seen him, Volk. I was hoping he would attend on time. Last we saw, he was headed towards the Kyber mines. Perhaps he is still there? And if he has interest in the vault, that should also be checked."
He turns to Navi and Shiren. "Even guesses and historical desires are enough to warrant checking. I suggest we all look for him, and bring him back here once he has been found."
- Imoen has posed:
During the wait, Imoen spends much of her time with Varric, from discussing her week to babbling on about priceless and immeasurably important archaic religious artifacts or ancient cultural quirks. Each and every element lead to the present, evolving and revolutionizing respective societies. The smallest trait has roots digging down millenia and sometimes eons into the past! There was also a certain point where she sought out Navi, hoping to glean more about the Sephi's time on Jedha, but she stops short after learning her friend has sequestered herself for meditation. So, she waits, worries, and waits some more, until called to attend once again.
Under her breath, Imoen mutters in abject disappointment, "Tomi...by the light, where are you?" Following Varric back to the Temple of the Kyber, she shakes her head sadly, "I have not seen him." Hearing the clues of the Arkanian's recent interactions has her looking even more confused. "Why would he be speaking on such routine, everyday matters when he has a questioning to attend?" She purses her lips, reaching for an explanation. "Could he be trying to find the Zealot himself, as a means to clear his name? Or...or maybe he's trying to distract himself from his worries?"
- Athena (159) has posed:
Volk's brows furrow, and the Force sensitives of the group will feel his concern deepen. "Indeed," he says in response to Shiren. "It is.. concerning," he says. "And the timing of it all is... impeccably terrible." He glances at Gethun, who nods gravely.
"Unfortunately, even as the last Keeper of the Vault planetside, it is with regret that I must inform you all that I'm leaving now for a couple of days. The locks on the all the vaults owned by the Whill Guardians are ... a bit complex, to put it frankly, and I am one of three individuals able to maintain any vault with relics owned by our religious sect. As such, there is another monastery that's having trouble with the locks and security on their vault, and I must go to assist them." He chuckles mirthlessly. "I suppose we should all pray to the Force that nothing happens whilst I'm away. The others are tending to their families -- an ailing father on his deathbed and a premature newborn will keep the other two busy for quite some time, I'd imagine. The good news is that I should at least be back to catch the fireworks that will go off after the closing ceremony and gala ends."
"If the vaults were accessed," Gethun says, "I'd know. However, I've received no such notification. I don't think he's even in the Temple -- I just was down in the mines, an hour ago and did not see him."
Gethun glances at Imoen, arching a brow in slight concern at her worrying. "I think you all should search out this ... Je'uun. They may have been the last to see Tomi, since none of us have any idea where he might have gone. They live on the outskirts of Jedha, a couple blocks down from the sewage plant. Not exactly the most pleasant neighborhood, but I doubt you'll be there for long."
- Navi has posed:
"Does anyone know if Master Tomi knows anything about the locks on the vaults?" Navi asks worriedly. "I hope he does not, just in case he really is guilty of something."
