The art of verbal and written communication. It is assumed that everyone is fluent in Galactic Basic and their species' native tongue if different from Basic; this skill is meant to define ability in other languages besides those.

Specializations

Huttese

Language spoken by the Hutts and many of those native to Hutt territories in the Outer Rim.

Wookie

Language spoken by Wookies, a race native to the planet Kashyyk.

Jawaese

Language spoken by Jawas, who typically roam the Outer Rim in search of salvage to sell.

Droid

Language spoken by droids. This language may be understood but not usually spoken by organics.

Tusken

Language spoken by Tusken Raiders, a race of primitive nomads native to Tattooine.

Zabraki

Language spoken by the Zabrak, a race native to the planet Iridonia.

Galactic Sign Language

Republic-established language that uses hand signals as opposed to the spoken word. It is used by the disabled and in situations where silence is necessary.

Benchmarks

  • 1 - 10: Enough to understand basics or carry on a simple conversation, answer yes/no questions
  • 11 - 20: Conversational knowledge, but may have an accent
  • 21 - 30: Fluent or equivalent to native speaker
  • 31+: Very advanced understanding, able to interpret or even compose abstract works of literature
