Cast of Characters: | 159, 418, Ellari Zin |
- Athena (159) has posed:
Regardless of whether Jorn prepares or not, Revara will be proven right in a matter of hours.
The first person to come looking for the green armored Mandalorian will be the young groom, Thaelin. He'll come to Jorn, in full armor, beskar sword drawn, hand on a silver twin barreled blaster engraved with the House Vizsla insignia.
"You!!" he thunders!
"Old Man Vizsla dies, and a mere hour later I hear from one of our House members that you have -stolen- my ba'buir's most valuable possession. The relic that all Mandalorians deem sacred, the pinnacle of all that it means to be Mandalorian. How -dare- you!"
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn prepares for this as best he could. Everything's loaded, he tries to set the ship's coordinates for a specific spot. He looks toward the thundering voice. Both hands at the ready. He'll look toward the thundering voice. The body language loose, ready, but just waiting for something like this to happen. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," he says and then doesn't begin shooting. Shooting out a voice message, <"They're coming. Plans?"> he speaks to Revara because he knows this is a setup, leaving will make him look more guilty. Staying will ensure more will come. It's a rock in a hard place until evidence clears them somehow.
- Athena (159) has posed:
<"I'm coming."> she tells him over the comm. <"But you know that whoever invokes the rite must duel you and you alone. I can stand by, but I cannot interfere">
The young groom circles him slowly, letting his sword drag on the ground and strike up sparks. "I am not without honor," he says, his tone hard. "Speak your piece, before I take your helm back to Lady Viszla as token proof that I've rightfully taken ownership of the Dark Saber."
- Jorn (418) has posed:
<"Yep. I know that, but I imagine dueling doesn't include a blaster."> Jorn knows that much then he looks at his surroundings, just looking for anything he could use to slow, or hurt, those coming after him. Because most will invoke the right of shootout rather than duel. So, he wants to use the advantages that he can.
Jorn thinks on it and tries to find something the size of the blade's hilt. Plan is to suddenly flick the other object over something to make them wonder, go for it. They see Jorn as someone that doesn't care about tradition. Why not lean into that a little? Play with expectations. If only he had a good explosive though.
- Ellari Zin has posed:
A small crowd of other appalled individuals has gathered, watching the showdown. It's not fully clear who they're sympathetic toward...there is probably a mix of both, although given how unpopular Revara is, they might be in the minority.
Ellari is among those gathered, standing there with her arms folded and her brows creased.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Revara doesn't reply to Jorn, but several minutes later, he'll see her arrive via her jetpack and descend near the port. She approaches warily noticing the small crowd that has gathered around to witness the duel that's probably about to happen. She sees Thaelin circling Jorn and appears dismayed. "<Jorn...that's my brother...>"
Well. The best Jorn will find is an old propeller blade that must have fallen off of a vessel at some point. It's rusted and a bit oversized for what he wants, but perhaps it will suit his purposes.
Thaelin continues pacing, seeming impatient. "Well?! You wanted a chance to speak? I'm giving it to you. Say what you will."
- Jorn (418) has posed:
"I'm on a strange planet I find to be backwards. I know nothing of the land, layout or even the buildings. I don't know where your family's vault even is. So, taking all of that into account....how could have I pulled off the heist? I would need a team, minimum. I'm on a planet with no resources. I found the weapon on my ship," Jorn says readying his blasters as he expects this to go down horribly.
"I'm an easy target because my bride turns all the heads, and I'm not a bad looker. Also, I'm an easy target when someone told me to run and leave the planet before I discovered the kriffing chaos that awaited me," he says frustration showing in his voice. Just not holding it back because what's the point? Why hold back the truth?
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Then why did you come here," Thaelin says, lifting his chin haughtily. "My father invited you, offered you favor, and wealth. But what do you do? You scorn me, my cousins, my father, and then deceive my sister into thinking you are an honorable man? You made her do this for you. I know it," he says, unfettered rage causing his tone of voice to be tremulous.
"Now. Enough talk," he says, "I invoke the right. A fight to the death. For glory, the Dark Saber, and all of Mandalore." He raises his blade, and points it at the green armored Mandalorian.
Revara seems speechless and overcome with emotion. "...no..." she whispers. "please...."
- Jorn (418) has posed:
"Because I was given a chance to bring my family name out of whatever low stance it's in, no more no less. I picked your sister because I saw potential. I still do. I always will." Jorn focuses for a moment and then he looks at her for a moment. "And then the vast majority of my actions have come to defending someone here. Your sister. And addressing personal opinion." Jorn smirks and shakes his head. "You're letting your anger cloud your judgement. You're smarter than that. If I was going to liberate something, I wouldn't show my metaphorical backside to everyone here. Also, I would have brought more people," Jorn points that out because while everyone has family, siblings in arms, friends, Jorn has mostly been alone save for Revara.
"You're just a pawn in the Duke's game. He wants me off the board because I'm marrying your sister," and then he thinks and says. "He's using you because he doesn't want me to marry her," Jorn says honestly and then he looks at the dark saber. He will not show fear.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Jorns words only seem to ignite some kind of unholy fury in the boy. He releases a guttural cry and charges Jorn, leaping upward with sword raised just shy of a few steps away from the green armored Mandalorian...
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn feels the blade cut into him. Still, he'll ignore the pain and try to go for a foot, a leg. He's not looking to remove the leg, but definitely make it so a dip in a bacta bath might be necessary.
Taking a side sway he tries going for the man. Just trying to do something to take away the speed, the umps and everything else. That's the hope anyway.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Jorn's strike barely brushes Thaelin's leg, and if it caused him pain, the boy seems to hardly notice. He renews his attack vigorously, swiping left and aiming to cut Jorn's right shoulder.
But Revara, who had been quietly sitting on the sidelines this whole time, suddenly steps into the ring, breaking free of the small crowd that's gathered. "Thaelin, stop this!" she says.
Someone in the crowd nudges Ellari. "Don't let that girl interfere...!"
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn's first instinct is to rush toward Revara. It's not that she can't handle herself, he just expect a lot of people to shoot, grab and who knows what else. Last thing he wants is to get a mob rules bit against her. Yes, bleeding and fighting, he'll still make sure Revara is okay when the situation looks a little dire.
- Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari tries to grab Revara and pull her back. "Don't you -dare- interfere!" she hisses. "You know the rules as well as any of us do."
- Athena (159) has posed:
Thaelin glances briefly at Revara but doesn't say anything. When Jorn rushes to be by her side, he bellows "Hut'uun! Fight me, if you wish to claim being Mandalorian at all!"
Revara pulls away from Ellari, clearly too emotional to even respond to her. "Jorn... You can't do this. You can't fight everyone...!" She reaches for his arm and tries to pull him away.
- Jorn (418) has posed:
"See what I mean by being setup?" Jorn says back to Revara softly. "See how the pieces come together almost too perfectly?" he know sshe believes him. However, it's still nice to get acknowlegement. Also, it helps his sanity. Makes him feel like it's not just in his head.
"But I need to bring honor to the family, right?" he says softly to her and focuses a moment. "I'll be fine," he says firmly then whispers low, "Promise and then focuses again. "You know the rules and so do I," and he knows this is the plan. However, what choice does he have. Jorn will focus getting ready to fight.
- Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari huffs but doesn't try to grab her again. Revara wasn't her responsibility. If she caused a fuss again, it was more likely to be Jorn's fault than anyone else's.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"I know," Revara says, but she doesnt get to further respond, since Thaelin is once again approaching, challenging Jorn once more.
"Death, or ruler of Mandalore," he growls brandishing his sword. But at least this time Jorn will have an opportunity to strike first!
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn pulls away once Revara is safe and then he tries his own upward slash aiming for a forearm, anything. Trying to disarm Thaelin. With Thaelin disarmed he could maybe stop the fight. Hopefully. Maybe.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Jorn's blade slashes Thaelin's arm, and blood erupts from the wound, spattering his green armor with blood.
Thaelin drops his sword, with a grunt and stumbles backwards, but then just renews his attack. He draws his pistol and shoots at Jorn.
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn gets shot and he smirks under the helmet. Everything hurts. Two ideas form in his head. He picks the one that seems least harmful. "I'm sorry!" he says firmly, not taking his head off of Thaelin. The head tilts to the crowd a little. The words for Revara. She'd probably know it. Then he goes for the same arm. Just trying to end the fight quickly because Jorn may not have the ability to keep going. So, he's trying to remove the arm from Thaelin's person. Hoping a literal removal for the arm would end the fight, prove Jorn's serious and then get Thaelin to rethink his actions. The apology is because this is Revara's blood. And he hates that it comes to this. The last thing he wants is to die on this planet, especially with a fake crime attached to his name.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Jorn moves forward to attack Thaelin, even before Thaelin has even recovered from having been slammed into a gutter pipe.
It would seem luck is on his side -- or is it? His blow takes the boy's arm off at the shoulder. He cries out in pain, and the crowd both boos and jeers. Some of them even begin to take out weapons, as if ready to slaughter Jorn the moment he killed Thaelin. This wasn't going to end well.
Unfortunately it seems that Jorn's attempt to dissuade Thaelin has only stoked his blood rage, even though blood is gushing from the stump of what used to be his left arm. With his remaining hand, he draws a small dagger and charges Jorn, aiming for his throat. One of them was going to die...
But then suddenly he'll find himself also being attacked by a raging Revara carrying a large brick. "Touch my brother again and I'll cut you to pieces, then feed you to the birds!"
Ellari is approached again, this time by Lady Viszla. "Don't just -stand- there! You have to do something, before the Dark Saber falls into the wrong hands and we have a bloodbath on our hands! Just look at everyone...."
- Jorn (418) has posed:
Jorn tries to avoid Revara's sudden arrival. At first he's pretty happy until the brick comes for him. He tries his best to doge. Somehow, he does. Taking the now discard beskar blade, Jorn brings the weapons together.
Then he presses them to the tops of Thaelin's shoulders. "Yield. Say you yield. Loudly!" Jorn doesn't want to do this, but he needs Thaelin to surrender. It'll hopefully cause the crowd to die down.
- Ellari Zin has posed:
Ellari arches a brow at her. "And how do you propose I do something in front of all these people without anyone noticing?" she asks. "You know the rules, the rite is not to be tampered with by outside parties. I already tried to stop Revara, but she isn't my responsibility. Besides, if he wins in fair combat, then perhaps he is worthy of a chance to battle stronger opponents." Which, she is quite sure they will come...if there was to be a bloodbath, it sure wouldn't be on her.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"I will die with honor," Thaelin growls. "Kill me. This is the way."
"Jorn!" Revara screams. "Get off of him, NOW!" She's drawing her twin blasters.
But who knows what will happen, really. The crowd is roaring, and already, some are making for Revara. "You bastard di'kut, how dare you intervene!" A yellow armored Mandalorian screams. He takes out his shotgun and shoots at Revara, and she barely manages to dodge.
Lady Vizsla draws nearer to Ellari. "Kill Revara," she says, "She's interfering anyway, and if you do, Jorn won't press the aggressive against Thaelin. I'll take him away in all the clamor, while you're attacking--!"
- Ellari Zin has posed:
Chaos erupts, which is exactly what Ellari thought would eventually happen. She dons her helmet and draws her blasters as Lady Vizsla insists that she do something about this. Taking aim at Revara's head, she fires once with each pistol while the other woman is distracted by the others.
- Jorn (418) has posed:
"You'll live with honor. You're bested. I'm within my right to end you, but -I- choose not to. Never call me dishonorable again," he'll toss the beskar blade far away. Then the chaos starts to pour into the fight. Revara is out with two blasters. Shots go out and he tries to help her, but she gets hit. So, he goes to her. Pulling her close, Jorn will activate his jetpack and take her with him. Only if he feels confident she can handle it will he activate her own. More will come, but the fight has already broken out into chaos. It's done. And so, he needs to limp off somewhere to figure out the next step, whatever the kriff that is.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Chakaar," he chokes out as Jorn tosses his blade aside and goes to extract Revara, who has actually been knocked unconscious by Ellari's shot. There's terrible carbon scoring on her helmet, and blood leaking out from underneath it - it looks really bad, and Jorn might dread taking it off to see how badly she's really injured.
As Jorn takes his leave, Lady Viszla emerges from the crowd with a couple of House Viszla guards, and they carry the barely conscious young groom away. The elderly Mandalorian female nods in approval at Ellari, thanking her for obeying silently.
