The art of communication in all of its varied forms. It is assumed that everyone is fluent in Galactic Basic and their species' native tongue if different from Basic; this skill is meant to define ability in other languages besides those. This skill requires at least one Specialization.

* 1 - 9: New language is completely unfamiliar
* 10 - 14: Enough to understand basics or carry on a simple conversation, answer yes/no questions
* 10 - 20: Able to discern some similarities to known language(s), enough to understand basics
* 15 - 20: Conversational knowledge, but may have an accent
* 21 - 30+: Able to discern enough to engage in everyday conversation
* 21 - 25+: Fluent or equivalent to native speaker/user
