A Jedi may call upon the Force to create a powerful energy barrier to protect himself and others from physical attacks (this power does not protect against psionic/mental assaults). The Jedi may expand the Barrier to encompass multiple targets per the table below.

While the Barrier is active, protected targets may use the Jedi's original Barrier roll to defend against any incoming attacks for as long as it remains active. The power may remain active for as many rounds as the Jedi has points in the skill; if the Jedi's Barrier skill is +4, the Barrier may be maintained for up to 4 rounds. The Jedi may dismiss the Barrier at any time; however he must then wait one full turn before attempting to use this power again.

Benchmarks

Base difficulty: 10

  • 1 - 9: Barrier fails or is too weak to provide any level of effective protection against incoming damage.
  • 10 - 15: Barrier is large enough to shield 1 human-sized target within short range from a low level of damage.
  • 16 - 20: Barrier is large enough to shield 3 human-sized targets within short range from a moderate level of damage.
  • 21 - 25: Barrier is large enough to shield 5 human-sized targets within short range from a high level of damage.
  • 26 - 30: Barrier is large enough to shield 7 human-sized targets within short range from an epic level of damage.
  • 31+ : Barrier is large enough to shield 10 human-sized targets within short range from a legendary amount of damage (massive explosion, avalanche, etc)

Modifiers

  • +5-10 to difficulty if target is short range but not within line of sight
  • +5-10 to difficulty if target is long range
  • +10 or more to difficulty if target is long range and not within line of sight
