Answers to some of the questions we've gotten asked!

What edition of D20 do you guys use?

Our game is loosely based on Saga D20, but is much more simple. You can read more about it here Category:Attributes

How do I make my character have a last name?

When you create your character from the login screen (type create <name> <password>), just type your character's full name between 'create' and your password and add quote brackets around the full name.

Example: create "Han Solo" <your password>

Once you've logged in, you can add an alias, which will make logging in easier. To do this, type @alias me=<your alias>

Example: @alias me=han

Once you've set your alias, you can use the alias to login, instead of your character's full name.

Example: connect han <your password>

If you want to change your character's name before you submit your application, you can do @name me=<character's full name>

I just accidentally hit enter early and submitted my pitch before I was finished typing. How can I delete it?

You can't, sadly. Please just page either Andromeda or Athena, and either of them can close the job for you. Or, you can use +job/reply <job#>=<text> to add the rest of your text.

I want to app a character who is an older, more seasoned archetype. Do I still get the same number of skill, attribute, and trait points as the younger, less experienced characters?

Yes. We have to balance the game somehow, and we don't want to be offering more points to some, and less to others. If you feel like you want your character to have a leg up skill wise, you can always choose the skill bonus. Later, you can also always upgrade your character using your XP.

There are definitely ways to create a character with a sheet that stands out among others of its kind just by choosing the skill bonus and combining the right traits, and if you want guidance on how to do that, staff will avail themselves happily.

Additionally, the GM, at any given point in time during a scene can decide to grant situational modifiers to reflect the context of the circumstance. Meaning, if you have a character who is more experienced and venerable, at the GM's discretion you may be granted modifiers for any of your rolls to reflect the fact that your character is more seasoned.

My character is a Jedi with a knack for piloting. Can I use my points to buy a ship?

If you are playing a Jedi, it will not be necessary for you to have a ship for personal use, as the Order has a private contracting company called Valkeri Enterprises that makes vehicles strictly for the Jedi. This means that while no Jedi has a ship for personal use, there is a hangar in the Temple with ships and vehicles that any Jedi can use for any missions or activities sanctioned by the Order.

How long should my background be?

Depends, on how long it needs to be in order to explain who your character is and their history. Usually we'd like to see at minimum, one paragraph that's 3-4 sentences long. But if you need to write more and find that your file is getting cut off, you can create multiple background files and name each one Background 1, Background 2, etc, to fit the entirety of it.

How long does my pitch need to be?

Again, it just depends, on how long it needs to be to explain the basic idea or concept behind your character. Usually, 1-3 sentences is good enough.

Can I make my ship custom?

Yes. Here's a list of all available ships: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ooxxCPiVoUHPB9KGJyIkmEQi8hvb2EyE1a9ZOvDU85s/edit?usp=sharing

Once you choose a ship, you'll be able to add modifications to it using your resource points. You'll find the commands for that in the vehicle room -- it's much later in the chargen process.

How do I challenge or roll against someone?

The command is: +challenge <stat>[<+|-#>]=<target>/<stat>[<+|-#>]

You can also always see all the +roll commands by typing +help +roll on the MUSH.

How do I vote?

At the end of a scene, or even before it ends, do +vote/all <scene id>

Voting allows players to gain XP, so if you enjoyed playing with your scene mates, please don't forget to vote.

How do I see my XP?

Type +account/xp into the MUSH. It will show you how much XP you've accumulated. To learn more about upgrades, visit Character Advancement

How many trait points do I get? How does taking negative cost traits affect my trait points?

You will get ten trait points to spend during chargen. If you take on traits with negative cost, you will receive back however many points the traits was negative. For example, if you had a balance of 8 points and took Illiterate (the cost is -1) as a trait, your balance afterwards will be 9.
