Synopsis: | Cayde, Thaarin, and Vons become suitemates |
Cast of Characters: | 159, Cayde Alexis |
- Athena (159) has posed:
It's been exactly two hours since the group that had gone to Ilum had returned. While everyone else was getting settled back into their temporary housing units, the tall blue alien known as Thaarin, along with the smaller robed alien whose name they still had not been able to figure out, had reported to the structure designated for administration, and are currently waiting in the lobby. Accommodations for the two of them still had not yet been sorted...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Much has changed since they've been gone, and Cayde had just begun catching with his old Master. However, with all of the elder Ikkrukki's new responsibilities, he did not have much time at the moment. So the padawan was looking for his old hab, but realizes that the tents have been replaced with actual buildings now and he's not sure which one he has been assigned to. Well perhaps he should have asked Master...
- Athena (159) has posed:
He'll feel a tugging in his mind through the Force. The small robed alien they'd brought back with them, seems to want to let Cayde know that they're irritated.
They've been waiting in the lobby area of the administration unit for over an hour, but no one's come to tell them what to do, or where they'll be staying...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
An hour? Oh, that was nothing. Clearly, this individual has never been to the starport in the Federal District. If one didn't have the luxury of a private ride, waiting hours on end for public starliners was quite common. Especially if you didn't pay for the premium class.
He himself still hasn't even figured out where he should be staying, so he starts peering at the doors to see if there are any names assigned somewhere.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The small alien prods Cayde in the Force a bit more aggressively this time. They reiterate to Cayde that it wasn't concerned for themselves, but Thaarin seemed rather unwell and they are concerned for his mental well being. Thaarin is a hard creature to read, but over time, they'd learned to read his body language and understand when he was feeling stressed, depressed, or overwhelmed.
The young padawan will discover there are no such names, just numbers, that did not have much meaning to him. His previous temporary housing unit had not had a number on it. Since Rykard was away tending to other matters, perhaps he should go ask administration...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
If Thaarin and his friend had been waiting a long time, then clearly administration was busy. But maybe, there was something he could do to help, if Thaarin was unwell. He goes to the offices and looks for the blue-skinned man.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The two aliens won't be hard to find -- the lobby is practically empty to Cayde's surprise. And Cayde probably won't need the Force to see the glazed over, unreadable look on Thaarin's face as he stares out one of the windows in the temporary structure.
The young padawan might wonder what is taking administration so long to assign them accommodations with the lobby being so empty, but just as he might be about to inquire about it, he'll see the source of the hold up. There's a couple at the desk, and they both seem very agitated and upset. Cayde definitely won't need the Force to see that.
The female is crying, and the male is shouting rather aggressively at the receptionist at the desk, who looks overwhelmed and uncomfortable...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde frowns, seeing the source of the problem. He first enters the mind of the male who is shouting aggressively, trying to see what the problem is and calm him down at the same time. Becoming angry and raising voice in such a way won't help the situation.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Well, it would appear that the female and male are a married couple, who had come to the colony site as a family with their two children. But apparently, he'd cheated on his wife, and they're now wanting separate habitation.
He calms down when Cayde intervenes, but it would appear that the receptionist is having a hard time trying to rearrange things so that everyone still fit in a fashion that made sense for everyone.
The small robed alien tugs on Cayde's sleeve, wanting to know if he'd remediated the situation.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde frowns and pulls his arm away. This creature needed to learn patience. And this would go faster if it would stop interrupting his concentration.
He approaches the office clerk, glancing at the workstation. [I can help] he signs. Surely, there must be a way to make it work. There were quite a few rooms now it seemed. And if not, well, it wasn't the administration's job to handle personal family issues.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The small robed alien finally shakes their head and goes back to their seat next to Thaarin.
The administrative clerk seems shocked when Cayde suddenly comes over and says that he can help. "Ah--I mean, this is my job," she says, "and you're not familiar with the system or how we've organized the rooms alphabetically, by race, family, and age--"
The male looks peeved though. "How's this any of your business, Jedi?!" he grumbles. "She was in the middle of assigning me my quarters!"
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde arches a brow at her. Well, she was clearly having trouble. But then he shrugs and backs away. Fine then, if they didn't want his help.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Suddenly, her commlink blinks urgently. She sighs. "Look, I'm sorry both of you, but I have to take this. I'll be back shortly." And then she gets up and goes behind the partition to take the holocall.
The male fumes angrily and points angrily at the female, starting to rant aggressively in his native language at her while she continues to sob uncontrollably.
The young padawan will notice that the receptionist had left the datapad with all the room assignments on the desk, and he'll be able to see that there are multiple vacancies. He might even spot his own room assignment - a large triple tent with a full private refreshers, across the hall from Rykard's quarters.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde moves behind the desk and sits down in the clerk's seat, picking up the tablet and starting to scroll casually through the room assignments. Oh, there's his...it seems nice. No complaints there.
He tries to see what assignment the clerk had been about to give the man. Glancing at the tablet, then up at the angry man, he points at the vacancies. [Your name] he signs.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The crying female finally composes herself somewhat, and the male finally seems relieved. "Kriff, finally," he mutters, "guess I can't complain about the Jedi if the receptionist won't do her job. My name is Herrin Parth, and her name," He says, jabbing a thumb and scowling at the woman, "is Tarrin Wintz."
The small robed alien in the back perks up, looking hopeful, and Thaarin snaps out of his reverie. "Cayde...? What are you doing over there?"
Cayde may notice that his quarters seem... rather oversized. There's three bedrooms, though it looks like the other two are unoccupied, and he's the only one staying in it. The other thing he may notice is that though there are lots of unoccupied rooms, many of the units they belong to are occupied by couples, and there's an annotation on them that denote that they're expecting. Well, that might not be ideal for a man who'd just cheated on his wife...
There are also a number of studios, with single occupants, but they're all filled. But maybe he could move one of them...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Oh, yes a studio. That would be perfect for Herrin Parth. And since, it seems the suite he's staying in has 2 empty spots, he could just move whomever it is into his suite. Hopefully, they have not settled in too much yet. He nods and looks at the datapad, casually selecting one of the studios at random and re-assigning its occupant to an empty unit in the triple he's assigned to, then moving Herrin into the studio. It seems the system is even set up to automatically notify the relocated individual.
Upon finishing the arrangement, he places the datapad down on the desk in front of Herrin and points at the minimap where his new assignment is now displayed. [Okay] he signs, watching them expectantly, and pointing at the assignment again.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The datapad pings, and a small automated voice emanates from it, saying, "Colonist notified. Relocation effective, immediately."
Herrin leans over the datapad, and nods with a grunt. "Nngh. Looks good to me," Then he turns on his heel and storms out of the lobby, the female hesitating momentarily before following him. She calls back to Cayde. "Thank you!"
Well, the receptionist hasn't returned yet, and the small robed alien comes over to the desk. They poke Cayde, and point at the datapad, then at themselves and Thaarin. Since he seems to have taken over her duties, maybe he could just assign them a room, too.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Yes, that was exactly what Cayde was planning to do. He looks over at Thaarin, motioning him to come up, too, then shows them the datapad. There are a few open spaces left, including one in the triple suite that he's staying in. [You choose] he offers.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The tall blue alien chuckles softly. "Oh, but--" he pauses.
"Surely you want space... and privacy," he says. There's a pause, and his expression suddenly grows mildly sad. "You should do as you please," he says. "I'm acutely aware of my status as an outsider, and perhaps inconvenience," he says softly, giving Cayde a faint, sad smile.
The small robed alien then comes over to peer at the datapad and points at Cayde's triple suite, indicating in the Force that the choice for Thaarin is obvious.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Oh, but Thaarin is the only one who won't be a bother to him and won't be bothered by him, either. Cayde nods and just puts his name in that last open spot, and leaves the rest for his small companion to choose from.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The small robed alien quickly picks up the datapad, and finds himself a room with an expecting couple who luckily happened to have a third bedroom. They seem satisfied, and pleased with the outcome of the situation. They pat Thaarin on the arm reassuringly, before hurrying out of the administration unit, apparently quite excited to meet their new roommates.
Thaarin turns to Cayde, offering him a faint smile. "You're too kind," he says, patting the young padawan on the shoulder in gratitude. "I left your duffel near the entryway to the residential block," he says, "shall we?" He then turns, gesturing towards the exit of the unit.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde nods and leaves the datapad on the desk, then turns to follow Thaarin out.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Once they're outside and heading towards the residential block, Thaarin turns to Cayde with another faint smile. "There's something I've been meaning to show you," he says, "I started working on it on the way back from Ilum. There was much time to pass, and I figured I might as well, since my studies of Basic weren't enough to span the number of hours it took to return to Tenoo."
"I know communication can sometimes be difficult for you, so--" But before he can finish his sentence, they'll both hear a loud shout coming from one of the housing units half a klick away...
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
As Thaarin begins to tell him about something he's been working on, Cayde watches him with interest. But then, a shout draws his attention, and he frowns, looking toward the source of the noise.
- Athena (159) has posed:
It's the Zeltron private investigator, Vons. He's in front of his studio, looking mortified. Some of his clothing is lying in a heap on the front step of the habsuite. "Hey! Sleemo, that gundark leather doesn't come cheap, you know! ....-Shit-...!" He leans over to pick it up and dust it off carefully.
The muffled voice of Herrin from inside can be heard, but his words, though indistinct, are aggressive.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Oh...oops. Cayde had hoped Herrin would've given the studio's previous occupant some time to gather up. But clearly he was impatient.
He hurries over, giving him an apologetic look, then glancing back over at the studio where Herrin now is settling in. [Come to new room now] he signs. Then he starts trying to help Vons carry his things.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Hey! I said careful..!" He snatches the jackets away from Cayde, scowling. "Who.. what the hell is this all about...!?" He then glances down at his commlink, which is blinking. Then he groans, and puts a hand on his forehead, cursing under his breath.
"I'm certain your new accommodations will be better than your previous one," Thaarin reassures Vons.
The Zeltron man frowns, blinking. "What? You again?" He grumbles. "Alright.. fine.. I'm coming, okay? Just give me a second..." And goes back inside his studio, gathers up his belongings, then comes back out with everything on a hovercart. He arches a brow at Cayde. "Sooo... where to, Supervisor?"
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde points over toward the triple hab that the three of them are now assigned to. [There] he signs, nodding to Thaarin when he assures Vons he will like this one better. It's much bigger, anyway. The studios are so small. [Yes bigger...is better] he continues, then starts heading over toward the new place.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Vons arches a brow at the young padawan and follows him, his skepticism growing. "Ooooookay," he says slowly.
"So... like, why do you know where my room is? The message I got several minutes ago was from administration," he says, "Last I checked, the Jedi don't oversee that kind of stuff. Unless there's been a leadership re-org that I wasn't aware of..." he trails off, following Cayde into the triple habsuite.
The triple habsuite, by far, is much more space than the studio. It's also fully furnished -- not something that Cayde or others would have expected, but a nice touch and the young padawan may be left wondering who might have sponsored funding all the furniture and interior design.
Thaarin seems surprised and slightly overwhelmed. "Cayde, I--" he turns to the young padawan. "This was clearly a gift intended for you, I can't take any part of that from you," he says. "That'd be too generous of you."
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
It's....almost -too- nice. Cayde isn't accustomed to staying in such fancy accommodations. Jedi weren't supposed to do that. But if he could share it with others, then he supposed that would be okay. He could just take the smallest and most plain bedroom.
When Vons asks how he knows the room assignment, he turns to the Zeltron man, hesitating a moment as he struggles to find the words to explain what happened. [...When busy...I can help them... I can give it to you] he answers, then nods and gestures toward the already furnished suite. [It is nice...good space]
He pats Thaarin on the shoulder. [Yes you can...yes you will] he signs, and starts taking his bags and going toward one of the bigger rooms.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Vons stares at Cayde. Then he blinks and shakes his head. "I have ... no idea what you just said, but okay," he says. But his lips press into a thin line and he folds his arms when Cayde starts taking Thaarin's bags towards one of the biggest rooms.
Thaarin gives Cayde a fond look and a kind, faint smile. "I suppose I can't argue with that," he says softly, then starts helping Cayde take the bags to the room he's heading towards.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde deposits the bags in the room, looking around it and nodding. [You are here] he signs, pointing toward the bed. Then he goes back out, and tries again to explain to Vons what happened.
This time, he takes out a datapad and draws a picture of himself sitting at the housing office desk where the receptionist had been holding the tablet she had been using. And it even includes her a little ways off, talking on a holocall. It's rather rough, but somehow, it is actually fairly accurate and easily recognizable. He adds some words at the bottom: "I am helping them"
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Thank you," Thaarin says warmly. "Really. You shouldn't have," he says.
"Okay...but why?" Vons asks, arms still folded. He looks rather unhappy, despite the fact that the triple habsuite is larger, and accommodated much more luxuriously that his old studio.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
"Because I always help" Cayde writes below the first set of words, then shows it to Vons. He arches a brow at the Zeltron. Why is he still so unhappy? The space is obviously much larger, and also nicer. He will still get his own bedroom, as there are three rooms.
The padawan taps him on the shoulder and the points toward the other larger room, which seems to feature a good-sized wardrobe. For all of those fancy jackets he wears, you know. He waves a hand toward it, and it opens, showing off several shelves and rods for hanging clothing. A full-sized mirror, too. The young Jedi points at the bag with all his jackets, and then points again at the wardrobe.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Even when you shouldn't," he suddenly grumbles, taking a couple boxes off of the hovercart. When he shows him to the other larger room, and reveals the mirror and the wardrobe, he frowns. Especially when he points out the mirror. "What are you trying to say? I'm vain, or something?" He makes a shooing motion at Cayde. "I don't need help with my shit, thank you very much."
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
What? No...no of course not. Cayde shakes his head desperately. He hadn't even known there was a mirror in there, so why would he be trying to make some kind of point?
But he wouldn't even know where to start with trying to tell Vons that or defending himself with that fact, so he just sighs and turns away sadly. [Sorry]
- Athena (159) has posed:
the Zeltron man arches a brow at Cayde, but a sense of remorse doesn't settle over him until after the young padawan has turned away and likely gone out of the room.
Thaarin is calling Cayde over, anyway. "Remember when I said there was something I wanted to show you," he says, "that I've been working on these past few weeks." He makes a beckoning motion at the young padawan, for him to come into the lounge are where there's an ornate greel ebonwood low table surrounded by a couple of Ghorman canvas loveseats. He's setting a small container on the low table, motioning for Cayde to come look at it.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Oh, right. He'd nearly forgotten about that.
Cayde approaches the small container, although he hesitates to open it, looking over at Thaarin in case he wanted him to wait or something.
- Athena (159) has posed:
The tall blue alien smiles and nods, his eyes bright with anticipation. It seems he's anticipated Cayde seeing it for the first time for quite some time now.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde nods and opens the box carefully, peering inside briefly before reaching in to pull out one of the items...
- Athena (159) has posed:
Cayde might not exactly know what it is when he first takes it out. It's small, flat, square shaped and there appears to be some kind of pixelated grid touch screen on one side of it. He'll discover he can draw on it, but using his fingers isn't effective, the tile is too small. But another look in the container will reveal many more of these small tiles as well as a stylus.
Some of them already have images on them, and the young padawan may recognize some of them as common objects or places he knows.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde studies them pensively, picking up the stylus and drawing a simple image of the Order's insignia on one of them. Huh...
[You made this...thank you] he signs, looking up at Thaarin and smiling gratefully. Very few people would create something specifically with him in mind. He flicks a wrist, and all of the squares float out of the box, spreading themselves out on the table in front of him.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Thaarin seems quite pleased. "Yes," he says with a soft chuckle. "What do you think? I'm not finished, of course," he says, "but I thought we could work on it, perhaps a little every day, or however often you'd like," he says kindly.
Spreading the tiles will reveal that there are more than just common objects. There are people, too. The doctor, Master Rykard, himself. The likenesses aren't very good though.
"Here," he says, showing him a button on the back of the tiles. "Pressing this will allow you to edit the front of it." He presses it and the tile glows briefly before the drawing on it disappears. Then he takes the stylus, and draws an image of waves on it. "Then pressing it again will lock the image." He presses the button on the back again, and tile loses its glow.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Well, at least they're recognizable.
[Very good] he signs, nodding. Cayde watches as Thaarin demonstrates how to reset the images. Oh, but there wasn't a way to just edit the current drawing? They weren't worthless, just could use some improvement.
He picks up the one of Thaarin, and tries adding to it without erasing the existing image.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Thaarin gives Cayde a wistful look, "Unfortunately, I haven't added that kind of functionality yet," he says, "I figured the drawings should be kept simple, simple enough that starting over wouldn't be a significant effort." He offers the young padawan a faint smile and picks up a blank one. "Here," he says, "there's not one for Navi yet, why don't you make one?"
From the hallway, Vons lurks, watching them with mild curiosity, arms folded without saying anything.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde nods and draws the Sephi girl's face on the square, although it doesn't turn out quite as he'd hoped. Perhaps because the tile is so small and it's hard to hold it right. He pouts slightly and resets it, then starts again. He doesn't notice Vons watching just yet.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Thaarin arches a brow at Vons, then smiles faintly. "You could join us. If you'd like," he says.
The Zeltron man seems reluctant at first, but his curiosity about what Cayde is drawing gets the better of him and he comes over to look at what the young padawan is working on.
Thaarin's scarlet eyes gleam mischievously and he snatches the tile from Cayde while he's drawing on it. "You could try something simpler," he says, and taking the stylus, just draws a heart on it.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde arches a brow at Thaarin when he snatches the tile from him and just puts a heart shape on it. But, that was too vague. What would he use for generic affection? He shakes his head and pulls it back with the Force, then starts another drawing again. This time, the likeness is much better, as he tries to steady his hand more. Though he does add a heart near her face.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Vons grumbles and slinks onto the couch, rolling his eyes and slouching unhappily on the loveseat, arms folded. He still makes no comment, but keeps watching Cayde, as if he wants to say something, but can't, for some reason.
Thaarin chuckles softly, clearly amused. "Tell me about that," he says to the young padawan softly, while Vons tries not to act like he isn't laser focused on what Cayde will say next.
"Tell me why you chose to illustrate her with -that- next to her head," he says, pointing at the heart.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde glances between Thaarin and the drawing a few times, unsure of how to answer that. Perhaps, it had just been to tease him since he was the one who had drawn only the heart to begin with. But also, she kissed him once. And that wasn't a complaint. Anyway, she's just generally a very affectionate person, right?
He picks up another blank piece and draws the heart on that one and then puts it next to the one with Navi on it. [It fits her] he signs. He notices there is already a piece with a lipstick print icon on it, and he glances at it momentarily but doesn't move it.
- Athena (159) has posed:
But both Thaarin and Vons are too observant to not catch Cayde's gaze flicking to the tile with the lipstick print on it. Vons visibly stiffens, but Thaarin's eyes just glitter with amusement and fascination.
"Alright," he says, "let's put this prototype to the test, shall we? I want you to use the tiles to tell me how you feel about Navi."
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
[Okay] Cayde signs, and looks over the squares. He finds the one that has a question mark on it and just picks that one to place next to hers. Yes, that was the most accurate way to explain it.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"I see," Thaarin says, smiling faintly at the young padawan.
"Now why do you feel like that about her? Use the tiles..."
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
What? What did he mean 'why'? A brow goes up at Thaarin, and he just shrugs. How would he know why, if he doesn't even know to begin with? He just looks back down at the question mark, and looks back up at Thaarin.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"Hm," Thaarin says. "Let me ask a clarifying question. Have you always not known how you felt about her? Or did something happen at some point, that changed how you felt about her?" He smiles faintly at the young padawan.
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Well....she'd always been a very affectionate person, but there -was- that one time...
Cayde flushes, looking reluctant but he eventually puts a finger on the lipstick print icon, pulling over toward himself slightly. [Do not tell master...] he signs, looking somewhat sheepish.
- Athena (159) has posed:
Thaarin's scarlet eyes light up, and he seems pleased when Cayde points at the lipstick print tile. "Don't worry, I won't," he says, chuckling softly, "You can tell me anything with confidence that it will stay a secret, Cayde."
Vons suddenly sits up, looking offended. "Wait, aren't you bound by some chastity protocol? Aren't -all- Jedi?" he says sourly. "Like, aren't you not supposed to be messing around??"
Thaarin shakes his head, still smiling. "Ease up, my friend. If it becomes an issue later, I'm sure his Master will take responsibility for disciplining him. But not to worry," he assures Cayde, "If Master Rykard ever hears about it, it certainly will not be from me." He stands, but leaves the tiles on the low table. "Feel free to fiddle with them as you please," he says, "for now, I think I'd best take some time to get properly settled in. It's been a long day."
- Cayde Alexis has posed:
Cayde flushes even more when Vons points out that wasn't supposed to happen. But then he moves the kissing symbol over toward Navi's image. [She started it] he signs. Well it was true.
Then he shrugs and gets up as well, then starts taking his few belongings over to the smaller room so that he can get settled in.
- Athena (159) has posed:
"What?!" Vons sputters angrily. But he doesn't further comment as Cayde gets up to take his own belongings to the other smaller room in the triple hab suite.
